I wouldn't wish this on anyone but it's also comforting to know others have the same issues. My eyes are so beyond irritated right now (eyes, eyelids, everything eye related) and I'm tomato red. I appreciate you making this video and I'll try out these suggestions tomorrow.

I keep coming back to this video after a year. I still have dry sensitive skin. I noticed that what really helps me keep my dry skin moist it’s Korean toners.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video.

Oh I've heard a bit about Korean toners. What kind of ones do you use for dry/sensitive skin? Or is there certain ingredients to look for? ❤

I suffer from redness and blotchy skin pigment things and am very very thankful that she has given me a point of reference of the base she has to work with and how I can make what she does work for me. Luminous and healthy looking. This was full of helpful reminders as I know that when I have excessive redness or problem spots, sometimes my first instinct is to grab something really thick to cover it.... but that is definitely not always the answer 😂
Your tips work with the skin, rather than against it. Awesome!

I struggle with VERY similar face eczema, especially on my eyelids like you & recently found out I have an allergy to mica (shimmer) & my eczema actually is considered contact dermatitis. Wanted to share just in case it helps you, since it took me a LONG time to figure out what is causing it. Hope yours heals quickly & you are able to wear your favorite products with ease. Much love from a fellow makeup artist. Xoxo!

    Beautiful application!
Its good to note that fragrances/essential oils and denatured alcohol, in products like skin care and makeup are terrible for people with sensitive, irritable and auto-immune illnesses often causing issues to worsen. Knowing this and changing my products made a world if difference for me

I have alot of the same issues and found the Dr.Jart Cicapair color correct cream to be the biggest help. Foundation really looks n feels ick on my skin latley. But with all my redness and old acne scars I love that the Dr.Jart is basically skincare treating redness but with coverage that looks completely like skin when used correctly. So much so even my husband uses it. The key is to press it into the skin with fingers. It's not meant to be used as a built up foundation tho. I think ppl use excess everything now.

I have uber dry mature skin, I tried the Tatcha products, but it seemed to just sit on top of my skin. Lately I’ve been using Tarte’s Drink of H2O hydrating boost moisturizer. I loovvvveeeee it! It’s a gel cream, very light, and absorbs quickly. I use it after my oil, and it’s made a huge difference in the way my makeup looks. I’ll have to try the NARS product, all the Smashbox primers make my skin look even more dry.

I just bought a whole bunch of Daniel Sandler samples and they shipped so quickly. I wasn’t sure about which shades I would like. Now I’m in a bind because I love ALL of them! Absolutely stunning! Even the bright orange shades, which I was a bit leary of, are magic. I also got a sample of the anti-redness primer, his foundation, bronzer, and highlighters. They are impeccable (and the samples aren’t too shabby size wise and are def multi-use. They come in these eensy weeny squeeze bottles that are pretty damn cute! I would recommend buying these to anyone who is looking to try this line out ❤️

    Hey Shelby,
I’m sure you get lots of “recommendations” for your skin issue. I too have a Genetic Autoimmune Disorder that is caused by extreme change in temp. So summer to winter and visa versa. I was told to use non-petroleum products only. I have found the original Weleda Skin Food (use the Light version during the day for a less greasy affect) to work wonders (it’s great under makeup too as a primer). It’s also a god send for my daughters eczema that is stress induced. Just some food for thought. 😉

Girl! I have rosacea and very dry/ sensitive skin. I only developed this condition since about 20 years ago. Nothing works that I get from my dermatologist and cosmetics make my condition worse. I’m going to ask my dermatologist to check me for lupus. I would hate that but I just to know what is going on. As far as makeup goes, only loose or compact powders are not irritating. Wishing you the best.

I suffered from red patches for years that I believe (hope) everyone thought was blush on my cheeks. It turns out I was allergic to sulfates in face cleanser ( cetaphil ). Now, I use dr. Hauschka milk cleanser, but probably any sulfate free cleanser would do. Also, replaced shampoo to sulfate free, etc. it was such a dramatic change to get rid of the redness. I’m also continually trying to remove redness from mask irritation. A few days with hydrocolloid patches to keep mask off skin has worked for me so far, but looks like this will be an ongoing battle. Enjoying your videos. Thank you.

Oh god I feel for you, I have that allergy with eczema too and it once upset my skin barrier to the point I got an infection. I don't think this will help much if you *live* with pets, but I found using a hand sanitiser (that doesn't sting or burn), each time after I pet a dog really helped. But god forbid, it's hard to avoid rubbing your eyes with all that dander. I don't think some people understand how annoying and horrible of an allergy this can be😭 hope you're doing better now❤️

I feel you, girl. I suffer from atopic dermatitis on my face all year round since childhood, especially in summer, moreover I live somewhere where the summer is extremely hot and humid. It sucks ‘cause it hurts and burns, there are days when I not only have to skip on makeup, but cannot even wear sunscreen just ‘cause on that days my skin can’t tolerate nothing except moisturizer. I just wanted to say thank you for this kind of video and all the information, products recommendations etc, you know, there not enough vids like this for people who struggle with similar problems.

OMG I feel your pain. I swear I think I have some autoimmune thing going on as well. The inside corner of my eyes are swollen and red/eyes so dry they feel like sandpaper. This has been going on constantly this summer and the center of my face can get red and swollen. Also, a chance that mine is hormone induced as I am finally smack dab in the middle of full blown menopause. I have used topical steroids as well but for soothing the red patches the best think I have tried is LaRoche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 - it's the bomb for soothing my skin and easing redness - I even use it on my eyelids! You may want to try it - used it on my son when he was small and it did wonders for his eczema!

I have very dry skin with texture, freckles, malasma. My go-to is the Chanel Water Fresh Tint. It blurs everything on my less than perfect skin.
I typically use the Chanel Baume Essentiel in Transparent as my under eye primer. Next, add a few drops of the Chanel Le Blanc Rosy Light Drops under the eyes and blend out toward the temples. So hydrated and glowy.

Def.check with Your doctor first! If they say it is ok, try la roche posay CICA balm (on top of it only powders can stay but better not to use any makeup bc removing it will irritate the skin). If You're in Europe, try getting A-derma Dermalibour+ Repairing Cream from the Pharmacy. This one is soothing, repairs skin barier through building the skin barrier with bacteria from Rhealba oat, purifies and soothes irritated skin.

Thanks for this, Shelbey! I have combo skin. I follow a dermatologist on UA-cam who recommends not patting dry your face after cleansing and applying moisturizer to damp/wet skin. When the water evaporates it steals moisture from your skin. It's weird, but does make a difference. I have extremely sensitive skin, and have stopped using un scented moisturizer. It's made a big difference.

Sorry you have to deal with the eczema. That does suck. I will say even with it you can still tell you are a beautiful woman 😚. Just saying.
Always here for looks, tips and tricks on what to do. You are so straight shooting and real. So I appreciate that. I always take something away even when it isn't something I think I need. Hope your flare ups get better. Fall is coming!!! 😉😍

Thank you for posting this! I suffer from eczema around my nose, jaw and eyes and flare ups just happen when I dont expect them. My holy grail products for flare up days are the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream, kosas tinted face oil and mac studio finish concealer! 😊

Whew, for a second or two I thought you were going to talk about using the new Becca "no color foundation". I cannot understand what is going on with some companies. I actually do like some of the Becca products, but cannot get into that one. Thank you. I too get eczema breakouts on my legs, but usually that is during the winter. You do look great in this video and thanks for the tips.

Catrice HD foundation is pretty thin, very long lasting, and one of my favorites, especially with all the redness. Does it work for you?

Hi shelbey! 😊 thank you for this! My skin is so dry and dehydrated that I only use tinted moisturiser. But some days I want more coverage, so I’ll definitely try this with extra cream and a damp sponge. I only use cream products (I’ve been using Daniel Sandler for years 👌) and once you start using cream eyeshadows.. you can’t go back 🙊 big hugs from the UK 💕

In the fall and winter I use Nivea Men Post Shave Balm as my faceprimer after moisturiser and spf sunscreen. It ads that little bit of moisture. Xxxx

If you are struggling with autoimmune problems, try googling an Autoimmune Protocol (AIP). It's a diet that might help. Nothing extreme, just healthy food and vitamins, but some aspects aren't obvious at all!

Very interested in the Daniel Sandler watercolor blushes now! Especially for my textured cheeks! I don’t like to use blushes because they always seem to emphasis that, no matter if it’s cream or powder.
I’ve never tried a liquid blush though. It looks like it gives you a very glow from within look instead of makeup. I wonder if it would wear well and look glowy on the eyes as well 😯 I’m leaning away from powder eyeshadows more and more also.

Thank you for these tips Shelbey. I am constantly red on my chin area, from past and current breakouts. I guess that's one nice thing about having to wear a mask often is it's all covered up! But I honestly think it's making it worse. Anyone else having more breakouts on their chin? Maybe it's just me! :D

My daughter had similar redness on her face and body. Basically it was mainly the topical steroids creams. Over the years they stop working and if she’d forget to put them on it would be worse. She had to taper off them and go on an elimination diet to see what would make her itchy. She still gets itchy when she eats certain this but she’s not red all over anymore.

This is the kind of coverage I go for because of melasma, but not wanting to use heavy foundations.
It cosmetics have released a new your skin but better foundation that allegedly does exactly what your describing( cover but thin ) I ordered it and waiting to see

The rash looks like Rosacea, which I have. It flares up when I eat foods I’m intolerant of, like dairy and carbs. Also, flares ups occur when I’m dehydrated or I get overheated, but also when I’m having hardcore anxiety. Best thing to do is drink a lot of water to help flush out what ever is causing them, stay in a cool space, and use whatever you use to control anxiety.
