If the listener wants just another generic rock voice who sings like every other rock singer, then yeah, Vessel probably isn't for them. It was funny that dynamics were brought up in the intro though, and wanting more of them, because Vessel has nothing but dynamics in his voice. Goes from harsh fry screams to breathy whispers to ultra sultry cleans to super high falsetto. Not sure how much more dynamic it can get, especially in a single song. But hey, we all have our preferences, I guess. Not getting the Breaking Benjamin comparisons either. I don't remember their lead singer ever hitting super high falsetto notes or using harsh fry screams. Their clean voice tones also don't sound that similar to my ear either. Vessel's voice sounds naturally deeper, has greater resonance, and he employs vibrato all the time, whereas BB's singer almost exclusively sings in a straight clean chest voice with no vibrato at all. Their individual vocal techniques couldn't be more dissimilar. Not everyone likes every band, though, which is fair enough.

Couldn't agree more with you! I don't know any other vocalist who is as versatile and dynamic. Noah Sebastian from Bad Omens is the only other one who comes to mind.
For me Vore is damn near perfection - you get a bit of everything with Vessel's range.

This. I can’t think of a single vocalist who employs so many different vocal deliveries in the same song, much less the same album. Their music is nothing if not dynamic

@@LFV_1 Which really confuses me when he consistently claims Vessel sounds just like Ben from BB, when they couldn't have more different vocal deliveries--Vessel being consistently dynamic in his delivery while Ben is a pretty standard rock vocalist who only sings in a straight clean chest voice. I don't get it.

thanks for checking this out! i do think vessel's voice is pretty polarizing, and don't blame you there. while i immediately fell in love with it, i totally get how it can take getting used to or perhaps just isn't what some people prefer. he elongates syllables, intentionally uses breath play, and does that weird vibrato thing i've seen others mention lol! he's also definitely veryyyy emotive, incredibly more-so live. part of why i love his voice is because of how he employs those different techniques in different songs for stylistic/artistic reasons, but appreciating that comes from delving pretty deep into the band and their art. totally think it's worthwhile to check out their albums in your spare time if you are interested (the album trilogy starting with sundowning - i wouldn't recommend you listen to their EPs first).

He does have a voice that some need time with, no doubt. Hes esentially an R&B singer in a ambient metal band. Once you get used to that and his voice it will open up a little more i think but hey, not every band is for everyone. Thanks for the reaction. If your doing an album, definitely do their most recent Take Me Back to Eden.
