Whenever I’m in the process of getting a new species I’ve never kept before. My first action is ALWAYS to come here to find your husbandry notes and rehousing videos. Your information is clear, easy to follow and always accurate and it’s a godsend to keepers both new and seasoned, we appreciate it Tom!
Thank you so much...that's the ultimate compliment! :)
Same! 🖤
That's a fast growing spider. I love giant spider but a giant spider with that interesting color is just a next level.
Hey, bud! Yeah, it's just such an awesome combination of size and color.
she's beautiful love her colors. i love pink n purple tarantulas too
Thank you, Ellie! Purples spiders are the coolest. :)
Tom, you deserve every Tarantula that God ever created.
Awwwww...thank you, Tina!
Absolutely as stunning a spider as any IMO.
I agree...thanks!
Purple is my favorite color. All gloved up. I'm still waiting for my suit from NASA. Who needs TV or Netflix when Tom and Billie Moran exist? Not me. So thankful for you guys and Thank you for keeping me company while I'm scared and in a lot of pain.
Oh no! I do hope that you are feeling better really soon! And I'm floored that our strange little spider videos are helping you get through this difficult time! You will be in our thoughts!!!!
I just bought my first Xenesthis, went with a 2" female Intermedia, thanks in part to this video.
That's awesome! Congrats! I love mine!
@@TomsBigSpiders she is the hungriest tarantula I've had. I had to offer some dubia close to her body length and she easily ate them. I would bet she would do this multiple times a week if I let her do so.😂
electric blue tanked when birupes came in, they just need to find a new hot cookie and maybe xenesthis will come down
Hey, Justin! Sadly, these guys have been REALLY high for about 10 years. They are apprently difficult to mate, so there aren't enough of them to go around. Still, we can hope!
Birupes over here in malaysia is like 30-40 usd for slings and 80-100 usd for confirm female juveniles. extremely cheap
I like the new intro music! 🎶
Thank you so much, Lynn!
What a beautiful tarantula. This is my favorite tarantula. I have 2 one male and one female..
That's awesome, Dorothy!
I ordered one of these a few weeks ago. Just waiting on delivery! Thanks for such a great video!
Congrats! I hope that it arrived safely!
Are they good for beginners
just got an adult female today! she is a beauty!!
Tom what a lovely spider love that carapace very colourful great video thanks
Thank you, Paul!
Hi Tom, what a stunner!! I really have to get some in my collection, I’M YOUR NO 1 FAN!!! Your vids are AWESOME!! Keep doing what your doing your a credit to the hobby 👍🏼🏴
Hello, Caron! First off, so sorry for the long dalay in responding! Thank you SO MUCH for the very kind words! I truly appreciate it!
Another great vid. Think I’m gonna pull the trigger on getting a few slings now.
That's awesome! Let me know if you do!
Beautiful Spider oneday I'll get one. They are very very rare where I am from. 🇿🇦
Yeah, they are a bit difficult to find around here, too (hence the high prices).
just got 3 slings in, soo excited!
Nice grab...congrats!
A stunner for sure ! Good that she barely kicked at all. No doubt she'll appreciate the extra space. Stay safe and thanks for sharing :)
Hey, Luc! She's been much more calm since I put her in here. Hope all is well, bud!
I have a male and female about 6 inches, I love these guys. Mine have cork hides but spend all of their time sitting out in plain sight.
Hey, Bill! I'm glad to hear that, as someone just commented that the females all stay hidden. haha. Thanks, bud!
Your videos are so useful Tom, I just love your presenting style too, thank you so much!
Thank you so much, Charlotte! I truly appreciate that as I know that I'm not for everyone. :)
Wow! They really have such great coloring with the carapace. Nice looking T!
Thank you, Drew!
I've been eyeing an Immanis for a while but haven't jumped yet. Great vid Tom.
Hey, bud! It took me YEARS to jump. Actually, Billie basically pushed me by buying some for me. haha
@@TomsBigSpiders just finished your podcast for this week too...quite telling that I legitimately have a T.albo that gives me more shit than my P.murinus and S.calceatum. I mean, none of them cause me any worry but it just goes to show how accurate your 'specimen to specimen/moult to moult' mantra is.
Gorgeous I think I will have to pick one up. I really love the big ones.
So do I, Michael!
Great video as always
Thanks so much, Chantal!
Absolutely brilliant Tom, and what an absolutely stunning species ,their definitely worth the price, anyway Tom thanks for another fantastic video. 😊.
Thank you so much, George! I was glad that I got to show her off!
AWESOME video Tom
Thank you, Michael!
@@TomsBigSpiders Your welcome Tom
Love the “Scary Stories To Read In The Dark” shirt!! I gotta get one!!!
I LOVE this shirt. Stephen Gammell (the illustrator) was a HUGE influence on me when I was illustrating. :)
She is absolutely gorgeous! 😍
Thank you, Ali!
Love it !
Thank you!
Wow Tom beautiful T! and want to let you know i got my first T a few days ago, a Avic avic pink toe! about 2 1/2 in. Very excited!!!
Congrats and welcome to the hobby, Ed! That's awesome!
@@TomsBigSpiders thanks Tom I really appreciate it!!
that bit about losing a $200+ spider hurts is true. I just lost my Cyriopagopus sp. Bach Ma to a bad molt. I didn't care much about the money part but she was one that I was excited to watch grow :(
Oh no...I'm so sorry to hear that. Yeah, it's not so much about the money.
Stunning 🕷💕💜
Thanks, Sis! :)
I love the colors of some spiders! GBB is my favorite.....I think..🕷❤🥰🕷
Hi, Lisa! GBBs are stunning.
Hey Tom great video loving the color.my pamphobeteus mascara not long molted and it's got that same colour on the crapace, and dark legs looks amazing.i will be looking out for one at the bts this year, because they just look stunning.
I have to get some more Pamphos eventually...I only have three at the moment, and mascara is not one of them. Thanks, bud!
Now you're talking Tom, one of my favourite species. I have two adult females, blue and bright, never kicked hairs but definitely skittish. Awesome looking and as you say a spider large and with presence👍great vid!
Hi, Gary! Man, I can't wait until mine are adults! They are just so stunning. Thank you!
They are kinda pricey here in the USA as well. But they are very beautiful. Great video Tom I hope you are doing well. Take care. Ibnsarachnids aka rob
Hey, Rob! Yeah, they are definitely quite pricey. Hope all is well!
I finally just bought one today because Fearnot has a sale going on... I swear they know when I have a paycheck...
Oh man, Sergei...I hear that. hahaha Congrats!
Gorgeous . Unfortunately these are way out of my price range . Thanks for another good one . Gonna be doing a few rehousings of my own in the next week .
I TOTALLY get it, Dan. If Billie hadn't bought them for me, I'd probably still not have any. And I hope that the rehousings went well!
Great vid!
Thank you!
BTW, Simply Limeaide is the best flavor of the Simply line of juice. I knew you guys had great taste! :P
It's sooooo good. hahaha Thanks, Liz!
Great video Tom
Thank you!
Beutiful!
Thank you, bud!
Tom, your videos are brilliant. Your podcast is brilliant. I'm finding myself frustrated because I always seem to find something I desperately want to respond to on your podcast. Not so much on your videos (though it happens and it certainly isn't indicative of any shortcoming on your part). Not really a question here, just voicing a frustration. Keep doing what you're doing. You're a credit to your species. :D
Thank you so much, Brian! I have a website that will allow folks to rate and comment on podcasts that I have to finish up soon!
Your handling of tarantulas reminds me of a 2319 in Monsters Inc.
White Sock? Okay then! haha
Great video buddy my intermedia passed away, still have the immanis both stunning spiders, been looking forward to a new video awesome as always
Robbie! So sorry for the delay in replying, bud! I've been struggling to keep up with everything lately. I can't WAIT until my summer vaction. I hope that all is well! I've got some Phormictopus that just molted... :)
It always hurts to lose a T, but man I feel for ya.
@@TomsBigSpiders hey Tom I never got the notification that you replied, youtube must be having issues. I messaged you on patreon too, but no rush take your time. Hope you enjoy your vacation you and the family have earned it
@@bflo1000 I know it was a tragic loss, I'll get another one eventually just need to get over the last one. It still hits hard
@@robbiestalkingts Yeah, I've lost $100 plus spiders before, but they were adult females that were much cheaper when I've bought them as slings.
Hiya Tom absolutely stunning species xenesthis are they are absolutely gorgeous but very expensive here in the UK 🇬🇧 there still very expensive so I can't imagine how much its cost you for all your xenesthis species all your female xenesthis species as well they must of cost you an absolute fortune the cheapest xenesthis species here in the UK is the immanis and there's an online dealer that's got them in now for £40 each 3 to 4cm slings which is a brilliant price look forward to seeing your next video mate stay safe buddy. 😊 👍
Hey, Wayne! Yeah, they are super pricey here, too. Honestly, if Billie didn't buy these for me, I probably would have been too cheap to. haha $40 each? WOW...mine was about three times that! haha I'm jealous! Thank you so much, and I hope that you and yours are well, bud!
@@TomsBigSpiders hiya Tom yeah the online dealer that had them in was selling 3 To 4cm xenesthis immanis sling's for £40 pounds each not dollars I dnt no what that would equate to in dollars probably 55 too 60 dollars 💵 but I'm just waiting for some males to mature so can get rid of them cause I've ran out of space it's cause I like to show of my nice big female Ts of in exo terra's they take up a lot of space but look really smart on the racking side by side look forward to your next video buddy stay say. 😊 👍
I have 3 Xenethis spiders a sp.blue female and a pair of sp.tenebris they are stunning but the females are always in their burrows the male is always out. They are pricey but I keep a small collection and only get wish list species.
Oh dear...most of mine are out in the open, so I'm hoping that I don't have all males! :) Thanks for chiming in!
The timing on this video is pretty great because my Xenesthis Immanis JUST molted on Thursday and went from brown to solid black legs and the pink is starting to come in on the legs and a bit brighter on her carapace. I'm waiting for her fangs to harden before I move her cause she definitely needs a bigger enclosure.
That's awesome! There is nothing like that pink carapace and black legs! :) Good luck with the rehousing!
What a beauty! I do hope she's a girl
Thank you, Toni! Fingers crossed!
It's so beautiful 😍 I paid $200.00 for my stirmi so I would buy one of those.
Thank you so much, Edward!
@@TomsBigSpiders welcome. This sucks my T. Stirmi was in premolt for a while. I checked on him and he passed. Not sure why because everything was perfect with the humidity. Yeah this sucks bad he died three weeks after my mom died. I found him dead last night 😭 life is real crappy right now
👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿❤
Thank you, Cooper!
Gorgeous! How are they’re temperaments in general? Obviously yours looks well behaved 😊
Hey, Anthony! Mine are a bit skittish and will kick some hairs if disturbed. They haven't been crazy, though!
make more of these babies
I'll try!
I can't seem to find any information about lifespan. Would the Intermedias fast growth rate be any indicaiton that its not expected to live as long as others?
Although they grow very quickly at first, that growth seems to slow down once they hit the 5" mark or so. Considering that they can hit 8", that still leaves a lot of time for a female to continue to grow. I would guess that females could hit 15 years or more.
Nice new intro song that other one lacked spice lol
Thanks so much! I like it, too.
Ive noticed that they always seem to destroy their moults when you're dying to find out the sex! It's as if they know & do it on purpose lol
It's so true, Helen! hahaha
Hey Tom
Wondering if you could give me a suggestion on an enclosure size for displaying my Adult Female Xenesthis intermedia. She’s about I would say 7”. Thanks
For my really big girls. I like the Lorex plastic 10 gallons. They are pricey, however. www.ebay.com/itm/134050840667?hash=item1f360d805b:g:k6IAAOSw7z1aBbgQ
I have a juvenile it is in premolt I HOPE that it gets its adult colors
Mine got them pretty early on! They get large quite quickly.
@@TomsBigSpiders Oh yes they do and that's what makes them great
the intro song reminds me of a blink 182 song lol.
I can totally hear that, Jacob. haha
Wow an Amazon Blue Bloom! Is there anything Amazon doesn't have??? Ha Ha. I bet you get as far away from the school as possible when you vacation. Who doesn't like blue T's? She is going to live about 30 years.
They have EVERYTHING, Joyce. Hahahaha And I totally do! I don't want to even travel in that direction. haha I hope all is well with you and yours!
Blu baboon cause of the legs?
Yes, I believe so.
one of my favorites in my collection sex the molt last month confirmed female
Congrats on the lady!
Tom, Beautiful T and Wonderful video. I'm having an emergency non-spider related. Can you please check your FB messages? Love y'all very much.
I want to see what a male looks like...any difference?
I believe that the males are quite purpley.
Are they sexually dimorphic ? I have one that's kind of drab.
I think that once they reach adulthood, the males are more colorful than the females. Not sure if they are early on.
@@TomsBigSpiders i own intermedias, during juvi stage to adult they all have the same colours, but towartds maturity male will start to have pink even on their femurs showing slowly. A 100% confirm female will only have pink on their CARAPACE. none on the legs
Is this female of this species is more beautiful?
Although the females are gorgeous, the males tend to have more of the purple on their legs.
So... Is it safe to say you like your girls with hairy booties? ... Bootys? ... WTF is the plural form of "booty"?!?!? Damnit, now my brain is gonna break. Crap.
I sure do! Bahahahaha I would write "booties" myself. haha Thanks!
I'm hoping they eventually come down in price a little, kinda like the H pulchripes did after it became more available. That carapace is just wow
Hey, Doug! They've been pretty steady in price for the past 10 years aor so. They are apparently difficult to breed, so there aren't as many out there. The H. pulchripes is quite easy to breed, luckily.
