It's important to acknowledge Robert G. LeBlanc who in 1970 did the research and drew the original map of the deportations that are depicted in this monument. His work made all the difference in understanding the scale of Le Grand Dérangement. It shaped subsequent research and has inspired an even deeper attachment to our identity. Sadly Robert G LeBlanc who was a Geography professor at the University of New Hampshire died on 9/11 on his way to a geography conference in Los Angeles aboard United Flight 175. It's time to remember him.
