Just took delivery of my fourth GLS63 since 2015. This is a special vehicle. Does it all: Out on the beach, towing, pulling up to the valet stand, and yeah I've had it on track at VIR and it's phenomenal (with Castrol SRF brake fluid).

That engine sound 🤔 . Sounds to me like a small engine that is being overworked

Engine is powerfull and big enough, car is just heavy and not aerodynamic at all. So the load is insane. You can hear the huge cooling systems working

However , let me tell you a story and you decide for yourself the conclusion:
6.3 320k km when sold( replaced spark plugs, coils, oil, and sensors)
5.5 100k when sold( replaced spark plugs, coils , sensors, actuators, engine block, valves and other minor stuff)
4.0 80k when sold ( replaced engine completely under warranty )
You are right about the cooling system, it is worked more on these small engines and they develop additional cooling pump error and when you go to the shop they reset the error because they think it is additional pump and not important so it eventually not cools when engine is stopped and leads to complete engine failure.
