I previously owned a 2018 GLS 550. The suspension was too soft in comfort mode felt too mushy but too stiff (for me) in the sport setting. I've had this 2021 GLS 63 since January. In my opinion AMG got it perfect for me in the comfort mode. This is the best vehicle I've owned ever! Comfort, Luxury, Performance. One thing I don.t get is the fuel mileage claimed. I personally get 18 city and 21.5 hwy. My GLS 550 got 2 mpg less driving the same routes.
I forgot to mention that I ordered the vehicle with the 22 inch wheels. Not the 23's because I saw many reviews that said the 23's had too harsh of a ride.
We are all amazed by your power duo presentation. With that said I wish I had listened to my MB sales person and bought this last year. I live in the States. The GLS 63 AMG has been discontinued. What’s can I say ? Good things don’t last for ever.
Great review as usual. As much as what the consumers want in a high-performance upper luxury SUVs, it still doesn't replace the ultimate status symbol of a Mercedes S-Class. S-Class has always been the trendsetter, when it comes to forward thinking technologies. But GLS is more of a marketing-driven luxury SUVs.
Amazing review of the GLS - awesome exterior design and amazing interior. My neighbor just bought his 4th or 5th GL(S) - He enjoy driving it. Only con is the price - even the non-AMG is expensive! Great review Andrea and Zack!

@@kevinn1158 I don’t think you’ve done adequate homework. Base price of the GLS Maybach-$161,550. They are two different vehicles. One is to be driven in the other is to be the driver. Nearly equal mechanics with a little firmer suspension setup on the AMG version. The Maybach has cosmetic upgrades.
This is a powerful, luxury SUV! It's definitely on our future vehicle purchase list! I agree on the wheels. Don't care for them. They're so many other options. Can't help but smile when I get my notifications! Oh, Canada! 🇺🇲❤🇨🇦

Excellent review as always! We have an S580 and GLS…the S is still the flagship in both interior design and ride quality, but the GLS is a tremendous SUV. We replaced a Lexus LX and see the GLS as distinct upgrade. Would be interested in comparison to new LX…would be a close call. Have had only one S63 AMG and felt like the AMG treatment was a little out of sync with luxury aspect of the vehicle. Thanks for all the information!
I have new S580 and want to change to SUV and am considered this. Wish I could have them both but can’t. Been a S driver 10+ years a little scared for the change. Just love this car and it’s height and size.
It could be nitpicking but I don't like a/c vents placed at the back of the center bin of the front row seats. The vents should be located on the headliner for both second and third row seats. I find it much faster to bring the temperature down this way.
I've own several Mercedes. My last one was a ML. My last service was $6000.00. The estimate to repair the sun roof was $12K......yeah, $12K. So, we purchased two Toyota 4 runners. Reliability, safety, low maintenance and great resale. We can afford just about anything we want but, I don't like throwing money away. If you go German.........after your warranty is over..........get out your checkbook.
Where are you from? Mercedes use seat controllers in doors for over 30 years... Traditional shifter in center console? What for? Maybe you mean manual gearbox?? Otherwise this is waste of space..

one of the most classy Mercedesses next to an S. Mercedes is very good quality, you'll never hear people complain. That is different with Audi and BMW.

The GLS inherently has a soft, rounded look but the black exterior trim and retro AMG hammer wheels help this thing look a bit more aggressive. Also I'm not impressed with the dash being lifted straight from the lesser GLE. My pick in this space would be the Alpina X7.
These are the best wheels in a very long time. The OG Monoblocks are classic and just badass. The current 5-star AMG wheels are so dated and boring...it's time for something new. Put these on a E-class wagon and i'm sold!
Ugg, all those colored LED interior lights? On film looks so tacky - Las Vegas on wheels. Hoping it's a little more subtle in person. Not that I am looking into buying one any time soon. But at this price a reliability rating of 71/100? Overall 76/100? Please! More money than brains to buy one. But I guess to each his own.
Bought a ‘25 GLS 63 yesterday. $180k out the door, including 7yr/100k OEM extended warranty, 4 yr OEM prepaid maintenance and 7 yr MB branded “First Class” wheel & tire protection backed by Safeguard. It was a gift for my wife. She likes MB, wants to have a 3 row SUV, and doesn’t like any of American Big 3 SUVs. Comment below if you think I’m crazy.
That depreciation though, ouch. When shopping for a new car we drove audi Mercedes and BMW. But ended up lexus for that reason. The Mercedes does have interiors mastered though.
One time I walked into a Brooks Brothers store and I saw a really nice shirt and a sales associate walked over to me and asked if I'd like to try it out or if I already knew my size measurements. Of course I told her that I knew my exact size and asked the price because there was no price tag on the clothing nor the table it was laid out on. She said' "$299.99". I asked her; 'seriously, what's the price'? She calmly walked behind the sales counter and came back with a catalog with the pricing. So I asked, if I get a free suit with this shirt or something... She politely stated that maybe I should check out other stores for prices within my 'range'. That was my first lesson in goods of ostentation. This Benz SUV is a good of ostentation and if you have to ask the price, you probably can't afford it. Starts @ $132K???!!!
I saw one in a parking lot. It’s massive!! I think those wheels are hideous. LOL. I’d rather have a GLE 63s with classic Benz multispoke wheels. :) Nice review!
I gotta say those night life photos look great because it's presented with a nice environment and in vignettes. But when I look at the entire MB interior at the same time, it's really not for me because it's too much disco look. It's like a person with waaaaaay too much make up on.
It no way this is only 16Liters/100km in the city this is easy 20liters+ /100km, I had the previous gle 63 amg 5.5L B/Turbo and driving really really gently I got 18-20 l/100 the pends of traffic and when you driving normal or a little faster and have fun you go easy 25-30 L/100km in the city, the nr what they show is from paper dealer
My neighbor across the street has the previous gen one of these, two other AMGs and a couple other gas guzzlers, he just put a bunch of solar panels all over his roof but he doesn't own a single electric car. I'm not sure how that works? 🤔
Andrea, when you stand in front of the GLS you look almost Daenerys Targaryen in front of one of her dragons. Make of it what you want. Zack, door mounted visible seat controls are the epitome of user friendliness. The same applies to you (the ‘make of it what you want’ part). By the way, great review as always. 👍

There is also one in the B pillar to plow in the passenger, third row also has dual vents. The pano roof prevents roof vents
