Thank you! I am a 73 yr old woman who has a 2012 Chevy Sonic. Wanting to change the cabin air filter myself I went to the manual. Absolutely no help-in fact, it told me to unscrew the two screws on the filter cover. What screws?!!! So I found your video and in a few minutes I was done. Thank you so much!
Holy cow!!! I seriously didn't know this was a thing. AFAIK my cabin air filter has never been replaced... Guess I'll check it ASAP! Thanks! Mine is a 2017 Sonic and it has two glove boxes. One is small just for the car manual on top, and then the big one on bottom. I imagine it comes out the same way.
I mentioned in the video that the previous aftermarket filter was installed incorrectly (i.e., the previous shop installed it upside down). I showed the correct way for it to be installed, and using genuine OEM parts as well.
If the freshener is rated for automotive use (to be safe for the plastics involved) sure. But a better option might be one of the activated carbon impregnated filters listed in the description, which are designed to remove odors.

Nice that you knew the air flow is downward even though the old filter was in upside down.
Thumbs up.
I noticed that too lol...
Same
whoops too late for me..
Thank you so much, had installed it wrong

I've put this off for way too long 😅 so my old one had a large weight difference thank you for the video
Thank you. Mine was 10 years old 😮 and you would not believe how filthy it was. Easy to follow instructions.
Great video, very clear instructions. Huge help!
Very helpful. Was confused by the Up Arrow on the old filter. Thanks @njsongwriter for clarifying.
Thanks for this video
Great video. I bought a new filter, installed it, but I cannot get the glove box reattached. Can you help?
I show the Sonic reattachment at 2:30 and at 3:06 , the hardest part is getting those half hinges on the bottom aligned up.
I'm confused the old filter the arrows was pointing up and u put the arrow down

Can I spray any type of air freshener on it?

Where can I buy the filter
