  • I recently cut my locs and decided to share the experience with you! I had a lot of build up in my locs and they simply were not as healthy as they could be due to me bleaching and coloring my locs so often. In addition, we're prepping for changes on the channel.

    Girl…i thought I was the only one in the loc world that does not care about length lol. I will be 3 yrs loc’d in Oct and I have cut my locs back to the same length you have. I just feel shorter locs with an actual cut/style looks better on me than just hanging long locs with no shape. Your locs look nice and healthy.

      haha! I can't be bothered about length! the hair will grow when it wants to :) You are closer to four years locd by now! are your locs still cut short? I restarted my journey to get microlocs but agree that a shorter length gives a fuller effect :) we can't be looking like we have 4 pieces of hair on our heads. Thanks so much for watching!

    You look beautiful either way. I like the even look. I trimmed my ends recently after being loc’d 3 years as well. I had some skimpy ends that were getting on my nerves, so I clipped them, losing a little length. I know a few women who have had locs for over 15 years, and they keep their hair at shoulder length, so we do what’s best for us.
    And yes, faith is everything!

      Thank you so much, sis. YES for trimming your locs, lol when they ends don't look good, they're so bothersome! It's worth it once everything is even. So good to hear that keeping locs at shoulder length is a thing! It's something I may certainly consider. Thanks os much for watching :)

      The oils people are using is attracting debris/lint which get embedded into the locs. Tweezing only thins out the loc. My question is why have so many loc folks started using all these oils. We used to just grease our scalp and that’s what I do. Oils also cause dryness, itchy scalp etc. Dye and bleaching thins the hair. However, you should use a neutralizing shampoo if you do any chemical process. Anyways, that length is nice on you. I would just grow it out and cut small bits at a time if you have to.

    Not using oil, helps tremendously with not attracting lint. I don’t even have scalp issues anymore since eliminating all oils. My scalp’s natural oil production has been very sufficient. No gunkiness either. I love your cut! 😍😍😍

      Thank you so much! I'll definitely try reducing my use of oil to see. I just started a new loc journey, it'll be interesting to see if lint makes a comeback again :)

    Love the Bob. Consider hair steaming at least once a week moving forward

      Yessss, I need to get a hair steamer. Do you have any recommendations?

      @@laurakasuvu Wellll... since you asked I have an amazon referral link you can use lol. Current price for the one I have is still the same at $139. For me hair steaming has replaced putting conditioner on my hair.
      Love the Bob again! you did a really good 🖤🩶

    I can see cutting your hair. Color changes the texture and requires much more care. Your hair is cute. Bobs are timeless. I know must people with locs want the length but that has never been it for me. Matter if fact, I didn't not see myself with micrilocs until I saw a woman with sisterlocs who had cut her hair above the shoulders. The long sisterlocs didn't work for me. I love the ability to wear your hair in a cut style with the ease of locs. 👍🏾👍🏾

      Great point that color changes the texture of the hair. This is something that I initially did not keep in mind. Thank you for your kind words. The bob was bobbing (lol!). I currently have microlocs (restarted the journey) and would not mind my hair remaining at shoulder length. I'm loving the short length I currently have. Wishing you a health hair journey! Appreciate you watching :)

    Have you tried aphogee on your locs? I have microlocs and my hair felt good after using it so you can try that to strengthen your locs. So basically bleach only damages our locs :-(

    • @laurakasuvu
      @laurakasuvu  4 місяці тому +1

      I haven't tried apogee on my locs but did when I was a loose natural. Wow! haven't heard of it but I should look into it because I currently have microlocs and the ends are a bit weak. I'm definitely done with the bleach.. wasn't worth it for my strands. Thank you so much for watching and for the suggestion .

    I think I might have build up in some of my back locs if I were to cut into them. You did great tho. How long did it take to cut all your locs?

    • @laurakasuvu
      @laurakasuvu  Рік тому

      hahaha! Thank you so much sis. it took me less than 10 minutes! (easier and shorter than I originally expected).
