I also bought an ST-15B. For testing purposes I put it on a dummy load. I still had range good enough to get around the house. I used it maybe five times. I got an honest 15 watts out of it.. I have a zero SWR with the dummy load. About ten hours total, when I turned it on again, I had the same response that you had. No power output but I could switch from high to low power. No output and no frequency indicated. I tried everything. The company I bought if from said look at the four capacitors for leakage or damage. They looked good. I was impressed with how nicely the transmitter is laid out but taking a dump after ten hours isn't good. I'm using it as a corner to a book shelf now. It was in the box for over a year before I tested it, so I didn't expect any warranty.
Has anyone ever bought one of these and got some longevity out of it?

The L ^& H you get on the display means Low & High Power setting

It’s not a power supply issue. You have to press the two frequency buttons for a few seconds after you’ve selected low or high (L or H). After that it should display the operating frequency.

okay here is the complete instructions on how to set your programming for your frequency. Number one turn off and unplug it transmitter. Number two hold the power button down and at the same time plug the Jack back into the power supply while the power supply is plugged into the wall. Let go of the power button. you should see an L or an H L is for low-power H is for high-power. If you want high power could get on it then you will click the power button fast one time. Next it will ask for the high frequency that you want to have it set for. Since I use 87.7 megahertz I set the high frequency for 87.7 and click power. Next I take the low frequency and set it to 87.7 as well. This will make it so that you can not change your frequency on the transmitter until you go through the programming steps. This is great for when you have kids at your house because they will not be able to change the frequency on your transmitter. Next click the power button again until you see the word off. After the transmitter shuts completely down hit the power button like normal and the power should come on in the transmitter should be on the frequency that you set it for and if you have music plugged into it it should begin playing the music or whatever it is you have transmitting into it. Be sure that you don't turn your volume too high because it will distort and it will cause over deviation and interference to frequencies near yours. That should do it your transmitter should be working the same as the five watt transmitter or the seven watt transmitter. The only difference with the 15 watt transmitter is you have 15 watts instead of the lower power.

Here is what you need to do. Press the up arrow to change to high power. Tap power. It will display the high frequency. What I do to avoid someone bumping the frequency is simply set the high frequency and the low frequency to the same. For example High 87.7 Mhz. tap power. Now set the low frequency to 87.7 Mhz and tap power. The transmitter will turn off. Now just turn it back on and your're on 87.7 Mhz a frequency clear on the USA.

Hold the power button in when you plug it in. Then select L or H, then press the power button again to get to the frequency set, select the frequency you want, then press in the power button to turn it on, then it will be up and running and it will remember your settings. To turn it off after use, just pull the plug. Next time you plug it in it will auto run.

NEVER use the GPY antenna recommended with this or the 1/7 watt models . I tried 3 antennas on 5 transmitters and they all blew the finals. I ran a badly mismatched vhf marine antenna for 7 years with no trouble, unlike the "correct" 1/4 wave piece of junk China recommends. Comet 5/8 wave for the Jpole that are both tuned or tune-able are the only antennas I have any good luck with .

I live in Australia, and I recently bought an ST-15B FM transmitter on ebay, but I have one problem: It didn't come with the antenna nor with the power adapter. Is there a way that I can get those two things separately? Please let me know.

Hi. You can use *any* adaptor which has *12V DC and can give min. 5A* on its output... Check on Radio Shack or Ebay or so...
      *Cheers!*

If the unit requires 5A and your only supplhing 4A, it might not be enough power.

If you turn the device on (and the antenna is not connected) it will destroy the radio.

Hi i think the problem is because you are using a powersupply with a maximum of 4A with a 5A FM transmitter. So it's not getting enough power. If you use a 5A or more powersupply i think it would solve your problem

El transmisor en realidad solo consume 3 amperios. Tal vez la fuente de poder que utiliza no es de 4 amperios, sino menor a ese valor.

A 5 watt power output will drain 500 miliamps or half an amp.

    • @Dazzwidd
      @Dazzwidd 4 роки тому

@@thra5herxb12s I just received one that I bought on eBay about a week ago.
I have a 3-15V power supply capable of delivering 60 amps.
The power supply has dual meters for amps and volts.
These things do indeed draw 4 amps, however I think that's one of their flaws.
The RD15HVF1 used in the final amplifier stage is biased too heavily and this is why it draws so much current.
It should only draw 2.5A at the very most.
