  • The Le Mans 24 Hours is tough. It is a true test of man and machine. Sometimes Le Mans chooses you and sometimes it doesn’t. Inside the Ford Chip Ganassi Racing garage at Le Mans and inside the cockpits of the four Ford GTs, a fantastic group of people fought for every inch of race track.They fought until the end, despite overwhelming tiredness and scored a podium finish for the #68 Ford GT.

    Always the same story for Fords , all the competitors cripple them and still want to call it a race. Ford always gets it done with smaller motors and more restrictions.

    • @stefanpetrov8
      @stefanpetrov8 6 років тому +12

      i don't think there were any irregularities this year.. both the GT and the 911 got a penalty either in the form of a restrictor or weight.. the GTs were just unlucky this year (broken suspension, safety car, etc.). As for smaller motors, yes it's smaller but it's got two turbos, the Porsche is N/A... you're comparing apples to oranges. Tbh i'm a Porsche fan but I wouldn't mind seeing Ford win if that means exciting races for all of us.

    • @kylevantassel7259
      @kylevantassel7259 6 років тому +21

      Stefan you do realize you are comparing a Porsche engine to a F150 engine ? Yes I know I know its got a little help but these engines are not so far off from what you can find under the hood of any F150 on the roads in the US.
      As far as Fords getting the short end of the stick I am not just talking Le Mans . It seems in every form of motor sport Ford shows up with a smaller power plant and still ends up getting the penalties .
      I won championships two years in a row with the smallest LEGAL engine in a field of big cubic inch highly illegal engines and they still cried about mine.

    • @stefanpetrov8
      @stefanpetrov8 6 років тому +8

      Kyle Van Tassel im not comparing Porsche engines to an F-150 engine, i'm comparing N/A with FI. That has nothing to do with who built the engine. It's common sense that a turbo engine is always going to be smaller capacity than an NA one. And credit where credit's due, Ford did one hell of a job with the 3.5 EcoBoost. The very fact that the same engine found in a pickup (altghough relatively heavily modified for what it is) can compete in top GT racing is a testament to the engineering gone into it. I won't get into BOP any further since in my opinion they're doing a good job, but the fact of the matter is that the racing is close as is. If they give a bigger penalty to the 911 and Ford starts winning races, we'd all whine about them preferring Ford and we'd wind up at the same place.

    • @kylevantassel7259
      @kylevantassel7259 6 років тому +15

      Well in my opinion the penalties are all BS , it killed NASCAR here in the US . Racing is about being better , not equal . I get that safety becomes an issue but if you are scared stay home and bake cakes . Injuries happen in motor sports . Fact is if the cars get faster and safer we all benefit from the technology. If you limit them it becomes stale.
      Races like Le Mans should be about bringing the best you have and you know what ? If Ford couldnt cut it thats fine with me , then we chase it until we win.
      Having your marque compete (I dont mean ride around the track) in Le Mans means alot to us small poor folks that support the oval and it should mean that you have climbed Everest and beat it to win.
      Look at the Daytona 500 now , Yawwwnnnnnnnnn .
      The winner of this race should hands down have the fastest platform in the world... Period...

      Not true. The reason why Ford didn't win is because they didn't have their LeMans aero package on any of the Fords. Not enough testing so they went with a conservative package. They should be faster next year as they'll have more time to test.

      They got a bit more fuel but got a weight penalty and boost cut across the rev range. GT had no guts coming out of the corners so it was always playing catch up. Thats why the RSR seemed to pull away only for the GT to reel it in at the end of the straights. Safety car screwed the lead GT's and the race director letting the porsches play rough sealed the deal.

    IMSA tries to level the playing field to make things "fair". This is a fallacy. They may be making things more competitive for entertainment purposes, but altering the playing field by favoring some competitors over others is never fair. It undermines fairness and de-legitimizes race results.

      Whoever wins is favored. That is the result of their strategic rule-burdens placed on teams. That's the litmus test. It doesn't matter how much logic, how much reason, how many facts are involved. It was manipulated, and therefore not open and honest.

    • @YouGotsTheRabies

    Don't like BOP rules. Build a car according to the rules and may the best car wins. The GT is a 650 HP car not a 500 HP by FIA BOP rules car.

    • @stefanpetrov8
      @stefanpetrov8 6 років тому +6

      we'd never get to see interesting racing though.. it would be races only dominated by a certain model all the time, and if it's not the Ford this year it'll be someone else with a new car.. BOP is there to keep manufacturers interested in racing so that we get to see as many different manufacturers and car shapes on the grid as possible

    • @davidgonzalez4665
      @davidgonzalez4665 6 років тому +2

      BoP is communism but on a race track. Slow down fast cars to “level the playing field” instead of having disparities between slow and fast cars. The GT, 488 and C7 are full on sports cars, while the M8 I feel is a true GT car that gets a lot of help to compete. The GT and Vette are slowed way down to make it fair.

    • @lpforever1854
      @lpforever1854 6 років тому +2

      David Gonzalez The C7 is far to old and slow to up at the front since a couple of years. And most of the manufacturers want a BoP to get guaranteed wins.

    • @davidgonzalez4665
      @davidgonzalez4665 6 років тому +2

      LP for ever like I said, communism. The C7 is the oldest car in the field sure but BoP is the the only way to get more cars in the field. GTE was ballin this year, I’m disappointed the GT lost but I think had the M8 not had damper issues, they could have won. Although it does seem they like to give wins on anniversaries, Ford on its 50th Porsche on its 70th. Go figure...

    • @blkngwinn
      @blkngwinn 6 років тому +2

      BoP will make manufacturers and fans leave the sport. Ford is smart by leaving the GTE class by 2020 because the FIA has been penalizing this car every since it won the race in 2016. Doesn`t make any sense at all. Build a superior car and then make it slower so it`ll be like the others in the class. This is so backward thinking.
