- I struggle with phone addiction and find it hard to focus. I tried using willpower alone and switching to a dumb phone, but neither worked. Now, I've implemented a system using two phones: a work phone and a personal phone (an iPhone mini or iPhone SE). I made changes to the phone's settings to reduce distractions and it's helped me reduce my phone addiction and focus on what's important. In this video I run through my though process and what i've learned along the way.

From one IT guy to another who is always on the prowl for a better way to do things. I think it is the inquisitive nature of people who work in Engineering/Technology fields.
Focus Modes also help if you are unable to do the 2 phone scenario - they can be set to exclude notifications from certain apps at certain times of the day…
I’ve failed at this. Trying something new at the moment. Keep an eye out for a follow up video.
@@MarcusCreates Hey Marcus! Did you ever settle on something that worked? Absolutely love the channel btw, have been binge watching nearly all of it.
The day I put my dog down, I turned off every single notfication on my phone. I was with my wife, so in an emergency, she was reachable. I haven't turned most of them back on, and the incessant pop ups when I open an app to enable the notifications just reinforces that I don't ever want them back.

@@MarcusCreates Amazing to hear from you. 💎 So I tried digging out my Motorola Razr flip phone from 2006. Honest to God, its lovely to carry, slim, sleek, great aesthetics, light as a feather, battery for days, it made me very nostalgic, and it freed me from WhatsApp that I used to adore and that I now hate with a passion. I could breathe again but there are 3 functionalities I still need or miss - 1. parking apps (its no longer possible to drive and not have these) 2. maps, 3. podcasts - so after seeing your video, the cheapest iPhone I see I can get is a reconditioned 6S for about £80 smackers and at the end of each working day, I'll be swapping the sim out of the brain munching work monster into what I'm already calling my ShyPhone. Honestly don't know why I didn't think of it sooner. Good thinking, Mr O'Brien. 🙌

I love what dumb phones are meant to do in theory but you highlight a very important point here about how the dumb phones are extremely hard to use and integrate practically with modern society.

Marcus, I have the SE2, how did you change the settings on your mini? Secondly, how do you share the same phone number? I was looking to use a flip phone for travel and an iPhone on wifi

Hi there, could you please tell me how do you install this black & white theme on your iPhone ?
I watched a video on UA-cam to be honest. Essentially what you do is move all the applications from your home screen you want to have on your and then create custom shortcuts to each app. When you create a shortcut you can assign an icon. So I created my own icons.

If you want to spend less time on your phone.....buy a Blackberry Key2....You will want to use it only for text messaging, emails, map, and NOTHING else as it sucks for anything else.
Hahaha. That’s kind of how I felt about the Nokia. Has to have a great camera too in my books to be viable. I’m enjoying the iPhone mini. Thanks for the heads up. 👍🏻
