Best mechanic youtuber ever. Instead of close ups on places you cant tell what your looking at, he zooms out and makes an entire CAD drawing for each step to follow along with. Legendary.
I just wanted to say thank you for your jeep patriot videos. They have saved me over $2,000 in the last month. I have used your videos to change my front brakes and rotors, the serpentine belt, and alternator. I am the least mechanically inclined person I know, but your videos have given me the confidence to attempt projects that I never expected to be able to compete. Thank you for making these videos and keep up the good work.
Thank you so much! I had the squeaky noise, changed the belt following this video, and it was easy to do. It was my first time too so I was nervous. My car has been running great ever since
I watched this video earlier today and this afternoon went out and changed my belt in less than 45 minutes. Great diagrams! Very thorough explanations, too. Thanks for posting!
New friend here watching from Canada 🇨🇦 orig from Bohol Philippines 🇵🇭 thanks for sharing your knowledge I'm one of your beneficiary I love fixing everything and most of all I maintain my family car
I swapped out my niece's belt yesterday on her Jeep Patriot using the info in this video, it was still a ordeal getting the belt around the proper pulleys but I pulled it off...Many thanks for posting this video, it really helped....
I will be doing this job in a couple days. Knew it was easy but was just making sure I was right. Thanks for the quick video and getting straight to the point.
My jeep's belt broke, just before I could sell it. I thought this was going to cost me a bit of money, in terms of towing it and repairing it at a mechanic shop. Then I came across your video. The amount of detail, schematics and step by step information was THE BEST I have seen from any DIY car repair videos. Just wow, thank you so much!
Thanks this helped, all I had was a short 5/8 wrench and could not pull the tensioner back with one hand with it, but after some thinking and hunting I cut a short piece of pipe that would fit over the other end of the wrench to make it longer and give more leverage, that made it possible.
Thank you so much for you're Video. It was very helpful and I was and I was able to install my belt easily with you're help. I watched other videos and non if them were helpful . Awsome job thank you again.😊
Thank you for the information , safety tips and blueprints. It was great to fix my Jeep after a day of over priced help.. Me and my husband got done with no extra cost..We thank you for the knowledge that helped us fix our Jeep. Many blessings to you
Very easy to follow, informative and to the point. Your blueprints make it a breeze. Thank you for the upload. I’ll be doing this to my patriot soon. Cheers Update: I followed your video step by step and it was very simple to do. Thanks again. Keep posting videos!!!
Hello Mr. MTLCARGUY I love your professional videos. Can you please send a video of how to 2012 jeep patriot 2.4 engine belt tensioner removal ?? Much appreciated. Thanks Mack
I don’t plan on replacing a drive belt tensioner or a belt tensioner pulley any soon. Often the tensioner pulley's bearing is the problem. Tensioner's pulleys are also sold separately.
Hi MTL I just changed the tensioner and idler pulleys as well as the serpentine belt, there is a problem the belt does not track on the idler pulleys one drifts to the right the other to the left, what I found is that on of the pulleys is bigger in diameter than the other , after the original installation it was very bad , so I switched the upper for the lower it is a bit better but less chance of the belt touching the engine , is there a reason for the different size and which one should be the upper and the other the lower. If you can help thank you
I think the upper pulley is 65mm outer diameter and the lower pulley is 70mm outer diameter. The difference in size was probably decided by the mechanical engineers to obtain a specific adjustment.
No!... I find it easy to release the tensioner from underneath and I never tried to do it from the top of the engine bay. Maybe some comments in Jeep Patriot forums could help you to do it from the top. Good luck with your search.
A bit late to check my messages but I had no electricity for about 3 days because of the ice storm in the Montreal area. I did not keep any record of the part number or the size of it, but it was longer than an other version because of the air conditioning pulley. Your local auto parts service person should know about it.
I would like to ask if there is a problem in turning individual pulleys once the old belt is out in order to inspect any play or worn out bushes or bearings. Is there any timing that may be affected?
Only the harmonic balancer crankshaft pulley (no:6) is related to the timing chain but it cannot be checked simply by hand. The 3 small pulleys (no:5, 8 and 9) are only mounted on a bearing. The alternator pulley (no:3) has a a clutch system and is mounted with a press fit bearing. The alternator rotor shaft is also held with 2 other bearings. The alternator shaft can be rotated by hand without danger. The pulley for the power steering (no:1) and the one for the water pump (no:7) can be rotated to evaluate the bearings inside the assemblies . The A/C compressor clutch pulley (no:4) can also be spun to check the bearing when the A/C compressor clutch magnet is not engaged.

Great informative video, my niece has a 2014 Patriot with the 2.4l motor, would it be the same belt routing???
Yes, the 2.4L World Engine was used from 2007 to 2017 with only minor changes.
Hello Mr. MTLCARGUY I love your professional videos. Can you please send a video of how to 2012 jeep patriot 2.4 engine belt tensioner removal ?? Much appreciated. Thanks Mack

You sounding good but what kind belt is it man putting this belt together is like the devils puzzle it always got a catch
Hi , excellent intruction. could you tell me if the 09 patriot is the same as the 08?
Yes basically the same, Jeep (FCA) used this 2.4L World Engine in most of the Jeep Patriot from 2007.
Hi ,like the Vid but what size box wrench are you using here ?
16mm or 5/8 in. When I show the tools @ 2:07 it is shown on the lower left side.

@@mtlcarguy Thank you so much.
Haw much longer must be the belt for this kind of engine 2.4 jeep patriot 2012 in (mm) please ?
I don't know, I have never measured the belt. Ask your local supplier.
@@mtlcarguy 2580mm and the code was 6pk 2580mm for those who dont know
The tensioner would not turn from the top of the engine bay. All the pulleys are rotating when the engine is on. Any ideas to make easier?
No!... I find it easy to release the tensioner from underneath and I never tried to do it from the top of the engine bay. Maybe some comments in Jeep Patriot forums could help you to do it from the top. Good luck with your search.
This should be the same on a 2012 patriot 2.4 right?
Yes
Can you tell me the size of the belt please mine broke and I don't know the size

Hi, sorry to bother you but what size box wrench did you use
My belt i got for my jeep was too small what do i do
@@blessedindarkskinned9250 your small belt might be for your vehicle type with no A/C. Just try to exchange for a belt for type with A/C
My Jeep Patriot 07 belt is so tight it takes mechanic help to installation... it’s not that simple
