Some well known faces and places of days gone by. Castleblayney known as the Nashville of Ireland and for very good reason. Top Rank Entertainment managed many of Ireland's musical acts
from its headquarters in the town and
also had a recording studio, recording many of
Irelands top country stars and international stars too.
Castleblayney is steeped in a strong tradition of music,
with people like Big Tom and The Mainliners, Paddy Cole and
Anna Mc Goldrick having enjoyed acclaim over the years.
Similarly, Castleblayney amassed a wealth of
showbands who enjoyed success on
the musical circuits in Ireland and abroad.
These bands included the Maurice Lynch Showband, Paddy Cole All Stars,
The Regal Showband, Everglades, The Travellers,
The Mainliners, The Outlaws, Emmet Ceili Band,
Gerry Black and the Seasons,
Ginger Morgan Band and the McGuigan Accordion Band. Check out Top Rank on Facebook, jam packed with photos and more videos from that golden age of country music / toprankentertainment

My boyfriend lives in Monaghan. We are a long distance relationship, but as soon I'll be an adult (in Poland for 18 years, and I'm 16 now), I would settle with him in Monaghan. It's really a beautiful city, I don't know why he's always complaining :D (sorry 4 my english, I'm from Poland. ;) )

Does any one know of or remember the family who both owned & ran the post office in Castle blaney , Culloville , keenerboys . I remember visiting this place often as the family used to play with both my brother & myself back in 1967. Some of the surroundings certainly brought back memories of a pleasant childhood spent with our Late grandparents who owned a wee farm.In Monaghan.
Does anyone remember Maie O'Donnell. She was my grand aunt, and was also the local castleblaney court clerk. She lived on Main street.
