On a very brisk, windy January morning, a friend of mine from Illinois and I documented a Wabash Central storage car train between Warren, IN and Bluffton, IN. Storage is this railroad's No.1 business, and it's not very easy to catch them bringing in or taking out cars that will eventually come in or out of storage. Today's train consisted of 16 2-Bay Frac Sand Hoppers that will be put back into service once returned to NS rails in Bluffton, IN. These cars had been sitting in storage west of Van Buren for well over a year, but now it is time for them to see the light of main line rail again. This is the longest train I have documented on the WBCR to this date. Despite being crazy windy most of the day and all the in and out cloud action, the weather did cooperate for the most part, and it was a very fun chase as always. Join us on our journey as we document this ex-IC veteran still earning it's keep on the former Clover Leaf in Northeast Indiana.
    Enjoy!

I remember the days when this was a busy line extending way past Van Buren and connecting to many points west. Nice to see at least this section hasn't been abandoned and has found life as a storage line.
