Since 2011 I have been drawn into this video literally dozens of times. There is something special about the mix of film material, road trip story character and the music. A big thank you for your dedication that inspires other people (not just to skate) like me!
I woke up this morning. Wanted to shave, but first wanted to check out yt for some cool videos. I love the music in this video. Watched it 3 times. I now own a 41' drop trough longboard. Moral of my story: Don't shave, buy a longboard.
I've been skating for a long time now. I was a street skater in the nineties. Never thought twice about longboarding, saw your videos, bought a longboard, now I'm in love. I'm a thrasher for life. Stay up dogs.
yo its crazy these videos that you guys are making completely changed peoples lives. If it wasn't for you guys me and a lot of other people would've never started longboard. This shit is inspirational odee
Sounds good to me! Always wanted to do a little more exploring in South America. I left high school a little... early... to go snowboarding in Chile and Argentina. Haven't been back since. Columbia sounds great.
Depends on what type of terrain you want to ride. The Maven and Diamond Drop Apex 40 are two of our top end boards. Maven for downhill and fast freeride, Apex 40 for freeride and freestyle. - Joel
Tigher trucks, stiffer higher duro bushings, smaller wheels or a different deck can help. At Original we spend a lot of time testing different truck / wheel combos on our boards and making sure our designs take those combos into account to minimize wheelbite (board touching the wheel). While this isn't always the case else where, and sometimes wheelbite is unavoidable (depending on setup), we take pride in keeping our rider's options open.
Enjoy that SM man, EW makes killer boards and support great riders, and we support that sort of business : ) Of course we also appreciate your support and love the Freeride 38 right along side you. There is good news though, you can have more than one board ; )
Thank you for the inspiration, I live in the small city of federal way, Washington were there isn't much to do besides drugs and schooling. But then I found longboarding, its only been 5 days since Ive started and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon :) I feel so passionate about the sport I created an extreme sports group so I can my a difference in my community. Love the video motivates me to keep trying no matter how hard it gets. Thank you (:
For sure. The thing to remember is that the real unique strength of the Apex is in it's ability to take an absolute beating. With the nose guards it is incredibly hard to kill and way harder than anything else we have tried. That said, you don't really need that same durability in Freeride (though it never killed anyone to have it). For that reason a lot of riders who are looking for a pure freeride / sliding board will go with a full maple deck (like the Drop Freeride 41 or Arbiter 36).
i love these videos! you guys inspire me so much to keep skating. i live in newfoundland and its super hard to keep with it because theres only a handfull of longboarders on the whole island and the weather only permits skating like 3 months out of the year exept for a skatter few nice days
The quality is so dope! & it's still up to date! I can't imagine how long this must have taken to upload to youtube in '10. We've come a long way. Big ups to you guys for being so stellar.
Kate DeDo Thanks for the good word. As you can imagine, it took a long time. Luckily, things have progressed, so we're able to share more videos of the things we love with people who are also passionate about it.
@TheManWithOutGlasses the Pintail 43 would be a good board for you! It's lower to the ground so it's easy to push and learn on. It's also a pretty stable board and is meant for cruising, carving, and some smaller hills.
Aw man you guys are so lucky!! I'm just coming to grips with my longboard and the weather out here in the NW of England compared to this video is just depressing!! Haha. Truly great vids and work so thanks, you guys are inspirational keep it coming.
For learning how to slide I used Orangatang Stimulus 83a wheels. They have a rounded lip to them and they're pre-broken in for you.. this makes sliding easy! Also, get yourself some slide gloves! -Lindsay
Let Go, by Kyle Chin is what first got me into longboarding, everything else after that was just fuel to the fire. And since then I've aquired a Tan Tien, a Dervish, a Landyachtz 12-2-5 top-mount and a Sector 9 I've turned into Frankenstein himself. Its long since been a passion, not just a hobby. Awesome video and even better skating tho in this vid.
Dude thats a killer quiver, just gotta add an Original in there some place. Seems like you are missing something like the Arbiter KT to fill in the shorter wheelbase stuff and give you a kick to play around with. Thanks for the reminder, going to go watch Let Go again haha
Really depends on the shop. The Apex 37s are available for ordering and have been for a little while, you could give a call to our rider support number and ask, alternately you could give a call to your favorite shop and do a special order (we will ship to them and you can pick it up!).
The boards in original skateboards are really awesome it got my eyes and now i have a longboard i got gloves helmets a hill to ride. LONGBOARDING IS JUST AWESOME these videos i watch i learn from them especially the video i just watched.
BRANDON BURGESS sounds like a good combo. I actually just built up a Drop Freeride setup for a customer yesterday, super sick setup with some of the new green Calibers and a set of RAD advantages. Suuuuuper pretty. I'm sort of jealous actually haha
Wheel hardness I always like to see beginners on something between 78a and 83a. Harder than that gets a little hard to control / understand at the beginner level, judging from what I have seen teaching various people. Board lenght; depends on what board and the board style. But mostly on the type of riding you want to do. More info and we can help more : )
We ship worldwide for $60usd with UPS. Your country will likely charge you taxes (20% or so in the EU) and duties when it arrives, but this is outside of our control. We keep the super fast (2 to 5 day delivery) shipping cheap to try to help out with that!
Aaaaah this is the video I was looking for. Watched it some months ago, lost it when I re-installed Windows, but thankfully I found it :D. I hope I can learn freelines soon -.-
Check out our Pintail 40! It's great for cruising, carving, and can handle some hill riding as well. You can put red medium tension springs inside the s8 trucks more more stability down a steeper hill.
alright you guys are blowing my mind on the the longboarding i longboard and where im from im the only main longboarder in my town i so apprectiate what you just showed me on this video no im going out to try those things. ALSO i like how you guys have "this is longboarding dont quit til your broke dont stop til you die"
Haha well, this is a tricky one. The thing is that everyone is entitled to their opinion, and everyone has their favorite brand. Which is as it should be. That said, we make our boards in the United States using seriously quality wood and glue. We also do our share of innovation. For a long time we were focused on things like carving and technical freeriding (smaller hills by us). Now that we ride DH, we are producing boards like the Arbiter 36 which are well received in that community.
Short answer is, yes. Any longboard can slide. Real answer is that any GOOD rider can slide any longboard. There are boards that are easier to slide for beginners, and boards that give advanced riders more control of their slides BUT might be harder for a beginner to learn on. There are different kinds of boards and different kinds of slides and different kinds of wheels that work best on the different kinds of pavement that different kinds of people ride. More info and we can help : )
Hmm, you have a few options. I would say the best board from us here at Original (if you are doing freestyle and tricks) would be the Apex 40 (depending on your height / weight). While it is not exactly a beginners board, it is setup to handle the abuse you will lay on a board while you are trying to get handle on your tricks. If no tricks then the Freeride 38 Rocker Concave would be a great option.
Hard to say. Even at speeds of 50 to 60km/h you have a chance of getting pretty banged up during a bad fall. Keep in mind that its going to be the time your not expecting it that you get really banged up. If you are expecting a fall or slide out you can be ready and get your pads to the road. If its something completely unexpected then having the extra protection can be a good thing. -Joel
Hey, I would suggest looking into something with a larger wheelbase to cruise around on, with a bit of flex to feel comfortable with. I'd look into a Pintail board as a first board for many, or possibly a Freeride for those wanting to learn how to powerslide or freeride. But for cruising and carving, check out one of our Pintail boards, they're great to learn on and super fun. Hope this helps! - Bish
If you have a board the other important parts are Helmet and slide gloves, knee pads and elbow pads help when learning too! A go pro on a stick is usually what kids get next. _Sean
This video been super influential for me. I'm about to go snowboarding soon and I'm getting hyped with the song and vibes! Btw. My sons local mountain is called Black mountain, we go there snowboarding some times.
im riding the loaded tan tien which is made specifically for free style and cruising. I absolutely love my board and its only flaw is that loaded is pretty pricy. but its made of bamboo and comes in three different flexes according to your weight great for pumpng. im in WV but my family is in FL so i bring it down when I visit and it's great on flat. but I don't know how'd u feel for it as a starter board. it was for me and i have absolutely no complaints I def agree with originalskateboards too
13 years later im still thinking about these scenes and this song man, what a masterpiece
Same. It's so gorgeous.
Since 2011 I have been drawn into this video literally dozens of times. There is something special about the mix of film material, road trip story character and the music. A big thank you for your dedication that inspires other people (not just to skate) like me!
Yes same. This video but also pt 2 as well.
and here i am in 2024, again.
I woke up this morning. Wanted to shave, but first wanted to check out yt for some cool videos. I love the music in this video. Watched it 3 times. I now own a 41' drop trough longboard.
Moral of my story: Don't shave, buy a longboard.
I wish things turned out that good every time I went to shave lol
Thanks for the stoke Norano.
It's exactly what I did (and didn't) do today :)
norano13 send me some dollars too.... i don't have it..

norano13 I'm buying a 35' drop through
The quality of this video is astonishing...

ShizZDaw Thanks so much!
I agree !
That exact video made me start longboarding.
I've been skating for a long time now. I was a street skater in the nineties. Never thought twice about longboarding, saw your videos, bought a longboard, now I'm in love. I'm a thrasher for life. Stay up dogs.

The damn intro was like half the video and that first song was annoying as fuck bro
Haha yeah, but the crazy thing is that its only one song haha
these videos are awesome. Love how they always have a fall portion where they show things going badly. Almost gives the video a story arc
This just turned up in my recomended again, I had forgotten how good these videos was!
One of these days I will be able to do those awesome tricks too. Watch videos like these makes me want to ride my board even more!
Amazing! The series are my favourite Longboarding video guys! Stoked and well inspired man!
yo its crazy these videos that you guys are making completely changed peoples lives. If it wasn't for you guys me and a lot of other people would've never started longboard. This shit is inspirational odee

This clip got me in to long boarding and i still love it, from the first day on.

Thank you for the inspiration, I live in the small city of federal way, Washington were there isn't much to do besides drugs and schooling. This video is Sick!! The second half is intense. Great Job. Keep them coming, please.
After you choose your trucks, there is a section for additional springs. Click on the drop down menu and you'll see the red and white springs listed.
Look at those landscapes, bro... What a video, man, what a video! Skate4life

My god you guys go hard! The bails are frightening. Had a bad one myself recently leading to two weeks of barely walking. Awesome stuff.
The quality is so dope! & it's still up to date! I can't imagine how long this must have taken to upload to youtube in '10. We've come a long way. Big ups to you guys for being so stellar.

@Therealscootaloo the Freeride 38 with rocker concave is meant for controlled slides at higher speeds and freeriding.
@TheManWithOutGlasses the Pintail 43 would be a good board for you! It's lower to the ground so it's easy to push and learn on. It's also a pretty stable board and is meant for cruising, carving, and some smaller hills.

BRANDON BURGESS sounds like a good combo.
I actually just built up a Drop Freeride setup for a customer yesterday, super sick setup with some of the new green Calibers and a set of RAD advantages. Suuuuuper pretty. I'm sort of jealous actually haha

I'm 22, and just bought my first board. One of the older model Original apex 37s :)
@XxGirikxX our longest board is the Pintail 46, which would be a great board for transportation and cruising around.
@Kuehlschraenk the Apex 40 rocker concave is a great all around performance board that can handle the types of riding you are looking to do!
longboarding isn't just meant for hills! Check out our warehouse video! You can use the board for transportation, and freestyle!

Not really a mountain 🤣🤣 but black mountain anyway 😂😂🤣🤙🤙🤙
im riding the loaded tan tien which is made specifically for free style and cruising. I absolutely love my board and its only flaw is that loaded is pretty pricy. but its made of bamboo and comes in three different flexes according to your weight great for pumpng. im in WV but my family is in FL so i bring it down when I visit and it's great on flat. but I don't know how'd u feel for it as a starter board. it was for me and i have absolutely no complaints I def agree with originalskateboards too
Hawaii has to be one of the sickest places to longboard. I'm so jealous right now.
