I remember A10 when it was first released. I think I got it like a month after the release for $60. The 9L were cracked back then. If you launch one rear aspect within 2 km, it's sure kill. They can try to flares all day long, and it would track (pre nerf by fov). It was carrying my aim. I could get 1 kill or 2 sometimes from 9L even though my aim was total turd. Grinded basically the whole US tree on that thing
I had quit WT for 2 weeks because I had just gotten fed up with it all. The repair costs, the low rewards, the playerbase, the AI. I was sick of being punished for just trying to play the game. So I decide to test the waters and come back. My very first match back in the A-10, VERY FIRST MATCH. Had an F5C try to crash me into the ground. I always fly off to the side away from everyone to take the long way around to ground targets. He came all the way over and just parked his plane literally inside mine. I struggled to get free and not eat the dirt, and eventually succeeded. He tried flying off back to the group of teammates like all was well. So I put one round, a SINGLE round into him from over 1 mile away just to say "that shit is not okay and don't do it anymore" basically a warning like if you are gonna try to ruin the game for others, there will be consequences. We were also still pretty close to the airfield. Instead of taking the L and going RTB to repair, he decided to come ALL the way back over and gun me down. Such a great game...
Ballistics computer for the cannon has helped me significantly. I'll run rockets sometimes but not too many. My go to is 2 AIM9L, and a extra cannon. Using the rudder has gotten me out of some sticky situations as well in a turn fight, as the turn time is a full business day.

However, I would like to say that it would be awesome if you could describe the strategy in such an A-10 game, how do you go about doing all this? You are halfway there when all bases are destroyed, lots of fighters are hungting specifically for the A-10s and by the time bases are respawned you are most probably dead.
It is rare now to get games like that, ESPECIALLY during an event, since everyone is ruthlessly trying to get score for their tasks. A year ago, I’d get a game like that once every 3 games or so, but not so much now. I’ve recently taken out my a10 and I haven’t had much fun to be honest. The few games that have been good often end before I can do too much.
The A10 is pain. However when it works, it works sooooooo damn well its worth dragging your face across glass for 5 hours. Now if i could get any match other than operation thatd be amazing cuz ive git the new A10C to spade
My A-10 tactic: load the bombs and mavericks, take a ~70° turn after takeoff; head to the edge of the map while still somewhat heading to the center line; wait till the closer bases respawn to u (u usually get beaten to the bases by everything that carry bombs/napalms, so u unlikely left with any base to bomb anyway), than start to head back for a bombing run. By that time most players are dead, low on ammo and fuel, or about to RTB, and you are less likely get jumped by an actual fighter, and u can farm 2 bases and AI units. After that its up to your game style what u do. Yes; the are 2 fail options: -- all enemies are dead by the time the bases respawn and the game ends without u done anything. -- U are the last player alive in your team by that time, and u can jettison everything and run back to base before the find u (this is what I usually do, and even crash if they use an "order" to find me, just to annoy the enemy); OR if 3 or less players left of the enemy u can try to fight them depending what jets (or BR) they flying (I refuse to fly this "traktor" above 10.7 anyway).
But to be honest I rarely use any of my US premium jets do to I wasn't satisfied with any of them (just like the British, and French ones): F-5C has too weak engines and only gets 9Es (+ it needs a maxed out pilot) AV-8 lacks the bombload of the British Harriers and can't farm bases, A-10 is "too late for the war"; F-4S gets a useless gunpod and only 9Hs as IR AAMs and it a F-4 on 11.3 in 2023. And they even took away the large maps from us, so it sucks. I just unlocked rank 6 and 7 with the tech-tree jets, at least there are some decent ones there.

In air RB I take the 4 500kg bombs (outer pilons, enough for 1 base, but with bombs only it can drop 2)+ 2 gunpods (inner pilons, good for head-ons) + and the S-8 rockets (middle, for ground targets) with the 2 R-60Ms, as the multirole set. The same tactic can work like with the A-10 but do to the higher speed a more aggressive gamestyle is an option too, like to play like a vulture and jump on enemy attackers/bombers; or even play as a fighter with just the R-60s and the extra gunpods, just careful, the wings rip around 1030km/h and the plane can easily reach that in a leveled flight even with a full load. It can take a hit (or 2). Very good roll rate, combat flaps won't rip before the wings (can do a few nice turns with those), decent acceleration among non afterburning jets, but the elevator feels a bit heavy, but does not lock up that much at top end speed like most other jets. Expert crew recommended. Easy to land. The AGMs are all laser guided, no auto-tracking, so u have guide them all the way to the target, but has the best unguided rockets (if u play mixed battles i recommend those).

That’s how I felt at first. The a10 early does have a slightly better match maker, but not really. It’s the few games that let you get to the map to destroy bases and ground targets that are worth it. I’ve gotten almost 200k SL games with the A10 but those are rare.

Its such a cool aircraft to fly. The rocktes sometimes hit teammates if they get I the way bit at 3 Kilometers they should destroy any target and the minigun just does it.
Didnt help, every match i go in im immediately targeted and killed using the a-10. I dont reccomend buying this to grind unless you somehow get a good match
It’s definitely something that takes getting used to. Usually it’s Mig21s that hunt me when I play the a10 so I just start looking for them after about 3 or 4 minutes. They don’t expect you to be aware so ironically I often catch them off guard.
The f4e is one of my favorite jets and I used it in part to grind for my f15 I think. It’s a great plane, the premium bonuses just make it a bit faster. Also lower repair costs.

During the event for sure. I bet it will be more fun after the event ends or during a ground event since the players that hunt a10s will be busy.

A10s need airspawns because even then they would get there after the afterburner jets

Yes; the are 2 fail options:
