    we Irish don't confront because we are all aware of there is a spectrum of mistake, if it goes into the deliberate, it we be confronted . its a live and let live way of life .

      Dara O'Briain put it well when he was talking about the Irish approach to legality/illegality, as opposed to Britain..
      He said;
      "You think things are all legal or illegal in this country. In Ireland, that’s not the way we do it. We’ve got a greater appreciation of the greyness of the human condition, between the white and the black. There are three states of legality in Irish law: there’s all this stuff which comes under “That’s grand” and then moves into “Ah now, don’t push it” and finally comes under “Right, you’re taking the piss” and that’s when the police come in."

    I get your point about sunsets and long evenings.
    I got quite a shock when I started living in Turkey, because the sun went down, it basically went very dark almost instantaneously....

    Hi Ishmael, great video. Funnily enough myself and my mum were talking about the clocks changing recently. This may be of interest to you. In 1968, they didn't change and stayed at standard time the whole year. She said it was an experiment in the run up to Ireland joining the EEC. She thinks it was in 1971 that it was abolished and reverted back to the clocks changing for summer and winter time. If you think our hours of brightness are long, a friend once showed me a photo he took of the midnight sun in Iceland. They have no hours of darkness during the summer and 4/5 hours of brightness during winter :)

    Wonderful points on life in Ireland. Very surprising that some of the Irish people do not like confrontation, the ones I came across in South Africa are very outspoken people, so I always held a view that they are combative. I guess they are just tired of complaining...

      Thanks for watching Sebake. Yeah it surprised me as well, but they are slowly getting over it and learning to stand up for themselves. Could also be due to the whole history with the British as well. They are very sweet and kind people generally though.

    The Irish people have been held down by our British overlord never allowed to stand up for ourselves and that's still ingrained in most of the people. We finally are starting to stand up for ourselves again. It took long enough but we're getting there.

    • @IshmaelMothibi
      @IshmaelMothibi  3 роки тому +1

      That actually makes sense man. Thanks for that. You are right, it took long enough but some Irish people are definitely getting used to standing up for themselves. Looking forward to this growth in Ireland. Otherwise Irish people are the most kind people ever.

      @@IshmaelMothibi But the Irish themselves descent in large numbers from the British, as in those that migrated there, like you.

      @@robert6106 Can you supply evidence - from reputable sources, please - to support your claim that the Irish 'descend ...from the British'? And while you're at it, let us all know where the British descend from? Germany?!

    You gain or lose the hour only on the night it changes not every night. Comes from WW1 and is due to cease soon. Ireland/Britain despite the climate are quite far North. Dark in the Summer between 10:30pm and 4:30am.

    At least you had a choice in the matter. Imagine the culture shock that the Irish population has undergone via their govt forced initiatives where small towns and villages are outnumbered with migrants from all over the world descending. And best of all, in the latest scam are brown-skinned arrivals who have been declared Ukrainian citizens so they can travel under that scheme all looking young and sprightly but recorded as 60+ thus making their progress smoother still. A bit like when they’ve had wrinkled, mustachiod men sitting in a Maths class with 15 year olds.
