Coming through arrivals in Toronto in 1979 to visit, and I was delighted to hear the security guard's Irish accent. Until I said so, and he told me he was from Newfoundland.

The Irish diaspora is wide and in certain areas very deep. There are more that claim Irish heritage than people in Ireland.
In areas of Canada that are remote enough, this makes perfect sense. Ireland spread her children across that area and down the Eastern US seaboard.

We are all mongrels in these islands 6 million British 🇬🇧 have at least one Irish ☘️ grandparent and many more are from Irish descent. My four Grandparents heritage was x 2 Irish x1 Scottish and x 1 English. Our blood is well and truly mixed in the UK 🇬🇧 and Ireland 🇮🇪
    That’s a cracking Canadian accent though 👏👏👏👏🇮🇪 🇨🇦
