Scorsese only has so many films left in his career considering they are all 2 or 3 years apart. Hopefully his best is yet to come!

As a film lover and a person with a religious background absolutely cannot wait to see this film. I'm expecting something both intelligent and moving.

I find his accent or voice quick-witted. Always gets his hook onto me.

Silence is one of my favorite religious movies(2nd to The Apostle). I tried to recommend it to someone at my church but she refused to see a movie where people would be tortured and renounce their Christian faith.
This is also probably why the box office was pretty poor on this movie. The people who SHOULD see this movie are most likely the ones who would rather see God's Not Dead. It's of ironic that those who believe that there is so much persecution here(I was guilty of that admittedly) don't want to see a movie where REAL persecution occurs.
I wish Scorsese made more Christian movies aside from this and The Last Temptation of Christ, they are my top 2 favorite movies of his. :)
Note: In his 2nd review of Temptation, Roger Ebert mentions that he met with Martin after one of his divorces and he said that he is living in sin and will go to Hell for it. I hope he doesn't think that anymore. He seems to have more faith and dedication to Jesus more than most people in Hollywood.
PS: A Christian speaker that I admire, Skye Jethani, has said that this is the best Christian movie, period.

the way martin weathered the entire christianity to compassion and love is incredible. that's the essence and the truth of christianity. all other politics, sects, traditions pertaining to christianity are irrelevant.
like john the evangelist said, love one another. that's the core of christianity and that's the true message of jesus. i consider martin scorsese to be the purest christian i have ever known.

Who is the film theorist who is named at the beginning of the video? The autogenerated subtitles says Mikkel Xian but I think it's not that.

I appreciate the sincerity with which he speaks, but as a dedicated believer I don’t buy the notion that you can relinquish your faith to gain it. Could you not liken this with the temptation of Christ in the wilderness? Where Christ is offered the entire world should He relinquish His own soul, and Christ rebukes Satan for it? I’ve always taken that to mean that the value of one soul is worth more than every vessel on earth.

My take of this movie is that, would you hold on to your belief while seeing people dying because of your belief. What would you do? My personal answer to that is, I will do whatever God said. In the movie, there was a voice seems like Jesus asking the protagonist to step on His image/renouncing his faith verbally or in writing. Is that voice from Jesus? Only that person knows and Jesus knows. After all, I believe in grace and compassion of our God, He will always provide us a way, may that be forgiveness, hope, other door or "a place where we(Peter) don't want to go".
