  • Are you looking for a preschool curriculum? If you've followed Susie from Busy Toddler on Instagram, you know she's the toddler activity genius. What many don't know is that she has a preschool program called Playing Preschool and it's an activity based, worksheet free way to do preschool each day and tells you exactly what to do.
I used this for my 2nd and 3rd kids, and loved having a plan that told me what to do each day, a poem and song to do, themed units with coloring and crafts, plus counting and letter sounds covered. It was such a special one on one time with my preschooler to gently ease them into the idea of school and also to give them hands on activities that were easy to throw together.
In this video I'll explain how Busy Toddler's Playing Preschool works, why we loved it, how it can be flexible to use with two kids, and why there are two books/if you can skip one.
Yes, you can definitely make your own preschool and not use a curriculum. Kids naturally learn so much through play! However, if you're like me and want something that intentionally comes up with activities without you having to pull from Pinterest...you'll love this.

What an amazing review of Playing PreSchool! ❤ I barely see it on UA-cam. I’ve been using it with my 4 year old and it’s been so fantastic. Truly open and go and so easy to swap common items if we don’t have something on hand. I homeschool two older children (5th and 2nd) and have a baby so getting to the library just wasn’t in the books for me. We did all of our books with the UA-cam read aloud. That’s always an option if you can’t find a particular book or like me and can’t get that part. 😊

Thanks for the suggestion of UA-cam read aloud! Great idea. That would actually make this much more open and go for parents! So glad you’ve enjoyed this and also that you’ve found it doable with older kids and a baby.

I’m currently using the first year with my 3.5 year old and she loves it! We are to the Five Senses Unit. ❤️

I have the first one. I have done some of about 4 units with my soon to be 3 year old when he was starting at 2.5. He loves it and now he asks to do school with me often. He also really enjoys the activities. My much older 8 year old son likes doing the activities too. 😂. One thing we do not do yet is the writing or attempting to write or even play dough write yet because my son isn’t quite ready to write yet.

Awesome! It’s such a neat program. I love that your 8 year old even has fun with it, how cute! Ya, the writing that early wouldn’t make sense. Good call. Lots of time to learn that later!

Great review! I'm considering using this for my 3 year old next year. I will also have one in kinder and grade 2 all homeschooled. I was hoping maybe my second grader could help facilitate some activities for the youngest, she doesn't want to be left out and wants her own 'school time'. How much prep time did you find you needed to set up the activities? I don't have a ton, we use several one on one curriculums here.

I don’t think you’ll spend a ton of time setting up activities so long as you have purchased the most commonly used things like butcher paper, tape, rice, a big bin, dot stickers and some paints, etc. I’d say 10 min max for you t set up the activities. There were TONS of days I’d just swap an activity out for something else from a future day because it’s what I had on hand or it was easier to set up for that day. We also slipped many activities and repeated ones they really liked on other days. And yea your 2nd grader could help you set this up anytime!

Thank you so much for this in depth review and all the info along with it. I wanted to get Year One but I see your affiliate link is for both years, is there another link you have that I can use so you can get credit? Thanks again!

Did you print and bind the content yourself?

I printed these through the homeschool printing company. It’s the company Busy Toddler recommends in the book!
