    I, like a few others, also think it’s a tie between Knee and Arslan. They are both great, but for each of their respective eras. Knee has been under tournament pressure for a long time and been through multiple Tekken games, yet still stood up as “the best”. Knee has been read by his opponents more. And there’s also Arslan, who (in only a few years) broke numerous records and catapulted Pakistan into the scene with his sheer skill. They’re both great for their own eras, like how some argue that Bobby Fischer and Magnus Carlsen are great chess players for their respective eras. At the end of the day this is what makes competition a never ending delight to watch.

    • @estoylaroca
      @estoylaroca 10 місяців тому +24

      The only real argument that makes it a "tie" between Knee and Arslan is, is that Arslan is just "new", while Knee has been under the limelight for a long time.
      At that point, it's just a matter of gatekeeping. Like, how long will Knee's previous reputation continuously come up?
      How many times does Arslan need to beat Knee until people acknowledge that he's the better player?
      Knee's career was a slower burn over a long duration.
      While Arslan's career was literally a bomb over the Tekken scene, opening up an entire new region which also revealed absolute top tier players.

      That's old news. This guy Arslan now surpassed to be known as the one who beat knee.
      He's beyond all that. His achievements are out of this world, never before seen. He achieved in a short time what other supposed goats couldn't in longest of times. I mean knee doesn't have this many evo titles.
      As for beating knee is concerned, that he's still doing with ease, check their combo breaker 2023 finals and grand finals.

    As an oldhead and a pakistani I see it a bit differently.
    Knee is the the last of the "old" legends in tekken that still performs to this day. The fact hes stood the test of time throughout all metas and games and enviroments, from arcade to console to online while still keeping up peak performance is worthy of GOAT status in my book.
    He also tends to use characters that rely on fundementals moreso than arslan who IMO uses more gimmicky characters.
    Having said that arslans record shows that no doubt hes the best tekken 7 player in the mainstream. His consistency coupled with performance makes this undeniable.
    But I know from experience that not only are pakistanis better at the old games than the new ones due to having practisied them more and the arcade culture in Pakistan which Tekken was designed for but arslan isnt even the best in lahore let alone pakistan.
    Tekken 8 will be the first game since pakistan came onto the scene so it will be intresting to see how they adapt to it because a ps5 is simply not affordable for the common man in pakistan especially with recent events. Hopefully the prize money can help with that and maybe bandai namco can help the scene themselves and maybe recognise it the way they do korea. Theyve certainly earned that much. Maybe one day theyll be a pakistani technique coined like the korean backdash
    I hope the old heads from the korean scene stay relevant in the future as they represent the history of tekken and at the same time underground scenes like pakistan and different locals such as africa and europe make their mark too for the overall enrichment of the competitive scene. Whos to say who the champion of tekken 8 will be as that game has a very different philosophy. But as for 7 its very clear that at least at large arslan is the undisputed champion
    The all time GOAT of tekken maybe still be Knee for his legacy of the game but I can guarrantee there are tons of pakistanis better than him at even the old tekken games we'll never hear of so the true GOAT is someone none of us know

Take a look at SF4, where a lot of epic names from that prime era were not able to make the transition to SF5 and perform at that same top level. Now, Tekken is much more of a "legacy" game that changes less with each iteration (I've been playing since T3), but T8 is still going to be a new game.
