Rocking horses and some kids' game like Cowboys and crooks with little 10 gallon hats! That would've been so cute. They should add 1 or 2 of the most iconic items from past sims games. They're already recycling ideas, they might as well give us that.
I mean they have some stuff for kids and toddlers and it’s cute, but toddlers can’t really ride the horses or make nectar or anything. It’s a horse ranch pack, not a kids clothes pack lol
@@Jellybeansatduskstill as $40 pack we should be getting a variety of stuff especially if there is nothing for toddlers to do in gameplay at least give us cute cas..
Could've thrown in some ponies or something lol plus kids can ride on horses, provided an adult is there with them! Could be cute to have a guardian Sim slowly trot with their toddler saddled in front, I have baby photo just like that!
@@AstarionWifey that is literally the most interesting part here. With other packs we at LEAST got early access videos a week before release, sometimes even up to a month early. But this time just ~24 hours before release?? Really strange. EA probably didn't allow them to upload content earlier. The question is just... why.
I wonder why they've never had a system for curtains like they do with counters, where you can select what style you want to place (corner piece, end counter etc.) It would be awesome to pick the color curtain and then select what width, length, and how open we want them to be.
It just occurred to me that a super easy, minimal effort thing they could have done was have horse riding as an after school club for kids and teenagers similar to scouts. Give them some riding skill or athletic skill while building relationship with a household horse if they had one. Even as a rabbit hole it would have be such cute game play. They could have even had a hobby horse for kids to play with instead of another doll house, though I do think it’s very cute and very complimentary to Cottage Living which didn’t have one.
Yeah I like the doll house, it's pretty but yeah we don't have nearly enough afterschool activities- especially after they broke Kawaiistacie's excellent afterschool activities. Even the new ones added for teens with high school years aren't good bc they just stress out your Sim who barely has any fun even if it's totally their thing and doesn't meet people etc. Whereas Kawaiistacie's had you meet other kids and build parenthood traits along with having a reasonable amount of fun
@@merchantfan I love the scouting activity. Having to earn badges is really enjoyable to me but it doesn’t have any counterpart so ALL of my kids are scouts even if doesn’t suit them. It feels like something EA just forgot about so they didn’t add to it. I definitely prefer it to high school clubs which are so time consuming for so little gain. Having it on weekends instead of after school when their needs are low doesn’t help. They could have had a horse riding based club easily that used the same badge system as scouting. Do x amount of jumps, ride for x amount of time, have 3 horse friends, care for a horse/interact with a horse. Just using normal interactions that exist in the game already.
It was the same in Sims 2, but personally I think they should’ve had a separate household count for pets like Sims 2 and Sims 3 if they were gonna do us like that
@seanprice7645 they didn't mean that kind of controllable, they meant horses being playable characters and not just living objects like pets are in this game too. Hope this helped :) Edit: oops misread that, my bad. I get your point on the defiance of the horse, but I still think that horses should be able to have actions that don't involve humans. Horses should be able to entertain themselves and even cause mischief that your sims will need to look out for. In my opinion, horses in this pack were way too tame. They were really treated like tools rather than a member of your family, which there was a huge emphasis on with cats and dogs. Tldr; I just think it's entirely possible for horses to be playable AND be defiant towards Sims. It would've happened if EA didn't drop the ball with every new dlc
I think if they'd released this as a Game Pack it would have actually been very well received. The issue we have is that we perceive that there is not enough value in the pack to constitute the price of an expansion pack and the information we've seen thus far only enforces this perception.
Yeah, it feels like they just added in random stuff (like the goats and nectar making) to justify it being an EP. I do like the idea of these things in game, but they just don’t feel as cohesive as say, the things in cottage living were.
If this had been developed as a game pack, they wouldn't have been able to fit half the features that are in it without sacrificing massive amounts of horse functionality
even if it had been released as a game pack, it would still feel like a cash grab since it feels very scammy to purposely exclude ranches from cottage living.
@@kiwipops agree with this while also agreeing with the original comment. I think this pack was meant to be a full fledged expansion pack, but it’s missing some things so it’s hard for us to accept it as an expansion rather than a game pack. I think this was hard to develop, and took lots of time and research. It has some signature aspects of being an expansion pack. However, there are key things missing that we expect from expansions - also quality details missing in general that most expansions are lacking. As a company they’ve let down the fans exponentially. I won’t be partaking in Sims 5 as a result, but I’m happy to watch the UA-cam’s play. So I think yes this should be an expansion pack, but it’s difficult to justify spending the money on a pack that feels like it’s missing something or your left feeling like you wasted your money. This is how I have felt for years spending money on ANY content they put out. It’s always missing something, just like this pack. It’s always missing the details, and it’s always buggy (even years later). So I think we have reasonably high expectations because of course this is a huge franchise, but they fail to deliver consistently leaving a bad taste in our mouths.
They stopped making them years ago because no one ever knew they existed XD People complain so much about how little the sims 4 has and yet constantly say they "didn't know that was there" in the same breath
@@AlinaMauMauI agree 100% but I was just talking about this last night, all this “secret” stuff, why not have pop up hints or something in the game that teaches you this stuff. If I never got into watching UA-camrs/tik tok I’d never know anything. It just seems like they should add that into the game
I had honestly thought that that was what Jesse was going to bring up when she mentioned the cave. That would have been the perfect opportunity to have wild horses
@@AlinaMauMauI don't know if you realise, but most of the secret places are.... Nothing. There is one thing to do there, maybe two if your lucky, so it's really easy to just forget their existence because it's just another place to pick plants or meet a single NPC that doesn't really do much
for me whats upsetting was their "focus" on Indigenous people in this pack.... but what is there more than just 2 families that just mention it in their bios... no items, no fleshed out clothes or hair in CAS, not even a skill for weaving or traditional cooking maybe? Interesting how one of their main points EA pointed out was that this pack will show diversity, how? by putting the 2 indigenous families on the outskirts of yet another americanized town? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Literally. So many beautiful things could have been added, not to mention that EA could have worked directly with Indigenous people to give them a spotlight. All they really gave as far as “representation” were three base game hairstyles in CAS with the update yesterday. It just feels like they thought of Southwest and tried to slap a diversity label on it to deflect criticism. I’m so mad at this pack lmao.
I figured that it was going to be very minimal compared to how they were building it up to be (like It being just a bunch CAS stuff, and not any actual gameplay mechanics,) but it’s even less then I had Imagined. A cynical part of me is starting to think the only reason The Sims Team brought it up at all was to shield/deflect early criticism and concerns about the pack (especially with how dismal the effort to incorporate Indigenous culture actually was)
This is another reason I cannot stand companies and corporations. People always get so happy to see inclusion and diversity in games or shows, but more often than not it’s like they add the bare minimum to get their applause for doing the right thing. OR even better, they do a good job at adding the inclusion then they decide to take it away in other countries where it’s not as popular or supported. Such a good show of support… right? It’s just not genuine, so I’m never going to respect anything they do. Maybe I’m being negative, sure someone could argue that. I’ve just seen alot of this and I’m tired of virtue signaling and fake compassion. It’s all about the money, and always has been. All they have to do is say, “we’ve taken heavy inspiration from the indigenous ect…” and everyone claps. In reality, it’s like barely there… but hey they did it so we should be satisfied… right?
in terms of CAS, something that would’ve been a cool edition (but they dropped the ball on) wouldve been some mexican vaquero clothes and ranchera music! especially since the male clothes are so lacking that really could’ve filled that section out quite a bit
@@augusto7681 Firstly, it really helped that you could have 8 sims and 8 pets (if I remember correctly), and you could control your horse, which meant that you could have nice interactions with other animals and sims. And of course, unicorns. You could find them by chance in the world and you have to befriend them before they could join your household. I can't remember if they had special abilities but they were cool lol. I do feel like it says a lot about Sims 4 horses, that it looks the same as Sims 3 horses which came out in 2011 and they came in a pack with two other pets... Sims 3 pets costs the same as Sims 4 horse ranch, and if you want cats and dogs too, it'll cost you double of Sims 3 pets
@Game_Erica Don't forget Sims 3 Pets also included small pets so to have all the features of Sims 3 Pets in Sims 4 you will need to buy Cats & Dogs, Horse Ranch, AND My First Pet Stuff. Altogether, at full price you're looking at $90 for pets. 🙃
I honestly still don't understand why they made "cat lover" and other types of animal lover as a personality trait instead of just a bonus trait that appears as an add on. It's not good enough to be that big of a trait
@@gaymiensI think the option for your sim to "earn" traits in game shouldve been in base game instead of locked behind a paywall in growing together because it is so useful. 😢
I just miss how much gameplay the older Sims expansion packs gave you, there were so many new items, so many new clothes, such cool and unique items with gameplay and now everything just feels shallow and glitchy, and they break all the expansion packs up into four different packs.
It would have been cool to introduce new collectable toys and books for kids. Have a horse themed book series, kids tv show, and some collectable toys or cards. Would have been cool to get kids into horses that way
i think that for an EXPANSION pack it really is a crime they didn't flesh out the indigenous side. There could have been community classes on indigenous jewelry making and wood-carving, there could have been a rabbit hole jewelrymaking career, they could have added new instruments such as indigenous flutes, drums, and rattles, carving flutes and rattles could be part of the wood-carving skill, (not necessarily indigenous but a Gulch tourguide would have made a great rabbit hole career). And the fact that nectar-making is a different take on juicemaking, or that big crop farming in cottage living is a different take on base game gardening, i think that indigenous woodcarving could be a different take on base game wood working. And similar to sulani have a trait for indigenous peoples that gave them specific moodlets or interactions. And if you had the indigenous trait that could unlock "teach indigenous history class". Perhaps a indigenous culture skill however I am very on the fence about then since Seladorado. But a skill that lets your sims learn and appreciate the area more, maybe having "tell indigenous fact of the gulch" or appreciating indigenous objects would grant moodlets if you had the skill.
Maybe they're difficult to implement considering Sims 4's closed world? In Sims 3 it was easily possible for wild animals to exist because of the open world, you could literally create an entire forest if you'd want to, so the open world gave opportunity for a wild aspect to it. But in Sims 4 the world is closed and limited to a single lot and the area around it where sims just walk on sidewalks, would be weird for wild horses or unicorns to just walk among the sims on sidewalks.
I'm actually super relieved that sheep and goats are not in the household, so you can have a whole bunch of them. Only having one or two really would be weird on a ranch/farm.
@@karmica7591 True, but now it's still better than getting stuck with a family of 4 Sims, 2 horses, 1 goat and 1 sheep or sth. Hopefully you can at least have like 5 goats/sheep without the game breaking down. Also, they'll hopefully fix it sooner rather than later. Then again, it's EA...
I would have prefered if they weren't miniature and cutesy and stuff (the milking animation on those tiny things has me kinda disturbed) and I'm pretty annoyed they give milk and wool when we... already have an expansion with animals that give you milk and wool, smh it should've been a single expansion, don't even care if they'd made 2 worlds
It’s an American game made by American developers in an American company based in America. I’m not sure what the obsession is with them making worlds based on Africa, a continent that millions of people leave to go to America.
Agreed! I'm more of a builder, but when i do play with my Sims, I almost always create a house in Mt. Komorebi, the island world (whose name I'm forgetting rn) or Henford on Bagley because they're just so different, and the Sims even have unique interactions there. What I'd personally love to see is a world or pack based on rural southern Japan. I know we have Mt. Komorebi, but I'd be thrilled to have something more traditional. If I knew how to mod, I would add loom weaving to TS4 and have my own family run textile mill in Mt. Komorebi... mainly because my special interest is weaving, but anyway-
@@jaybee4288and many people leave America to go to other places, including countries in Africa, South America, Asia, Europe, etc. the American stuff is fine, but it’s limiting. What’s the problem with adding new and interesting places from all over the world?
As someone who has worked with and competed with horses for 10 yrs, I think the only way this pack could genuinely be enjoyed is once modders and CC creators get ahold of it
okay sorry but, i have worked with horses for long too... and ur just using this as an excuse for whining ab the game. there are barely any good horse games out there. and i def feel like the sims went into DEPTH with this one... shame on u weirdo
Horses being part of the household is so upsetting. Going to be really hard to actually have a family and horses for the ranch if the horses take up a slot
Unrelated to this pack but I AGREE the sims 4 needs a trait / aspiration rehaul. That’s my biggest gripe with the game, and thats a major thing that keeps it back from deeper gameplay imo. I wasn’t too excited about this pack but it seems “fine” for the games standard. Seeing how my horse was doing in the competition in TS3 was so awesome though, and made me so much more invested. I wish they added that.
r you... stupid. There are so many reasons to why this isnt a game pack. first off horses r super hard to make ingame. plus the world is so open, so much different things to do. SO MUCH detail.. like woah especially training ur horse, baby foals and selling them, they even have their own skill levels.. cats and dogs didnt have that.. the entire world is so big too. a new aspiration, nectar jobs. there is NO WAY that this couldve been a game pack
Thank you for this honest review! The thing about this pack that upsets me is that if it was a GP it would've been a really good GP. But since it is an EP, there should be more. I know horse animations take a lot, but they came in TS3 PETS which had so many other animals too, so thats not an excuse to me. Little gameplay objects would've made all the diff 🥲 Rocking horse for kids, mechanical bull, pool table, maybe even a "juice stand" for kids to make and sell diff fruit juices similar to the lemonade stand from TS2/3. New objects make all the diff in EPs.
Yes this comment sums up exactly my thoughts. It’s the little things and they really skimped out on the little things. And since horses are their own expansion I would have thought they would have gone much deeper with horses. The fact the equestrian center competitions are a boring rabbit hole just hurts.
You forgot to mention that the new base game hairstyles are supposed to represent the indigenous peoples of North and parts of South America. Many people are complaining because they’re too “feminine” without realizing that in indigenous cultures, long hair isn’t gendered. Especially the single braid that goes down the middle of the back, that one specifically is usually worn by men depending on the tribe or community.
@niassuh4031 It is in western countries though, always has been. There’s the occasional trend and some men who can pull it off but generally male hairstyles are short and long hair is feminine. Perhaps it’s different in other cultures and parts of the world but it’s hard for people to undo years of social conditioning.
@@jaybee4288Western countries? The indigenous people we are specifically talking about come from these same countries. I agree it takes a while to let go of these social conditionings but we cant say its "western countries" its European beauty standards that bleed into global standards.
The fact that there's pretty much nothing for kids is actually so shocking to me like... kids truly go feral for horses, there should have been so many clothes and gameplay just for kids.
I really appreciate the pure honesty. I was so excited when this was announced but now that I’m seeing it I’m so disappointed by what we got. I love horses and honestly their existence is the only reason why I will even consider maybe buying this pack. They could have done so much more with this. It just feels kinda empty.
I'm exactly on the same page, I used to be a horse girl as a teen and was very excited to get back into it digitally hahah but seeing this pack... there just isn't any gameplay. If I buy it, I'll definitely wait for it to go on sale.
And unfortunately this is exactly why the price is so high. The sims community has been so desperate to have horses they will pay a ridiculous price for it. I say hold off until it's on sale cuz this is just robbery. EA will make every pack going forward with less and less stuff for more money if we don't stop giving in.
I’ve already preordered it 🥲 I’ll probably end up playing it until I get bored. meanwhile I have an actual horse irl so I’m like kinda disappointed there’s no rugs, blanket fleeces, interactive trailers, head collars and lead ropes ect it could’ve been cool… they could’ve added feed buckets too! it’s missing a lot of stuff that’s horse related if I’m honest.
I honestly don't know what will become of the franchise with the release of the sims 5. I'm not putting any expectations on it and for me, it will bury the franchise for good, unfortunately. As an avid fan of the sims this makes me really sad but at least we still get access to the old games that are so much better than 4
Imagine your horse having this beautiful purple hair while the sims only get a light and a dark pink 🤣 They could’ve included the new haircolors for Sims in the base game update. I don’t know anything about coding but I feel like they could’ve just used the same coding they used for horses.
@@Animeyani991 yess!! I love sims 2 too, can't even decide which one is my favorite, 2 or 3. But since sims 2 doesn't have horses, I was making a comparison with only sims 3 and 4
The fact that EA is lifting the early access embargo right before this EP launches tomorrow and when it’s too late to cancel pre orders feels very scammy. I like your channel, just calling this out.
Most platforms don’t let you cancel preorders at any time. And most games don’t have early access. If you preordered something and it turns out not to be good, that’s your mistake and no one else’s.
By now idk why anyone would still continue to pre-order any Sims 4 content unless they know nothing about how EA has been handling the Sims franchise for the past decade. It does suck tho.
This should have all been part of the farming pack that came out last year imo. I am kind of sick of packs that feel like cut content from another seperate pack. Like how tiny living should have just been part of eco lifestyle. Idk. Maybe I am just getting demistified with the Sims lately.
@@Lina-so7xz the Sims 4 has been lacking since the start in my opinion. In terms of gameplay it is a shell compared to sims 2 &3. The only point sims 4 gets for me is build mode is a lot more dynamic and fun. But everytime I actually play with a sim I get bored so quickly. It's so disappointing. I feel like the Sims team has fumbled from the start with Sims 4.
@@Sarah_Sparkles the Sims franchise has lost so much of what made it fun in the beginning. The over the top, humorous elements have slowly been chiseled away to make a more "realistic" life sim, yet somehow it feels more hollow than ever. There was so much more to do in the Sims 2 & 3, and things would happen around your Sims all of the that made the gameplay unpredictable and exciting. The most my unplayed Sims do in the Sims 4 is go sit on the computer or stand in a corner for 6 hours 😭 it's so lame.
Exactly! It’s safe to assume that the glitches will still be there upon release, based on what’s happened with previous packs. Some glitches don’t ever get fixed and are still there years later.
My mom can’t speak English doesn’t understand either but she loves your voice and your accent she always recognizes you and tells me to turn the volume up 🥰 she just said it again 💜
I do see a place for the simpler aspirations but I think they should be their own thing. I think if our sims could have two aspirations for example, these ones wouldn’t take up the space of a larger aspiration while still being doable. Or maybe splitting aspirations into lifelong ones and hobby ones, and then we could have one of each? I don’t know, I just feel like this mechanic could use some workshopping or a refresh to make our sims more well rounded and more fun to play.
I really hope that cave is a hint about medieval or fantasy packs in the future. I want medieval fairs and I'm really hoping they go in that direction if the rumours about fairies coming soon are true.
Listening to this, I literally was just thinking “a modder will change this, a modder will make the onesie for older kids too, etc” 😂 So sad, the Modding community carries this game.
the sims team desperately needs more people. In my opinion every life stage and animal should have a seperate developement team, so every team can focus on adding something to the specific stage and we could get more cross-play cas etc items for animals. Because I swear it's sad how every pack gets completely forgoten after a while by the team
Absolutely agree! I get the feeling that the sims team is smaller than it was in the sims 3 era and it upsets me. I think it'd be such a good decision and it'd help with meeting demands so much!
im actually kinda happy theres a real legit grocery store in this world. like i felt so ... cheated in sims 4 for a long time idk why its so important to me 🤣🤣🤣 like ordering groceries on your phone or going to a kiosk just pissed me off and i feel appeased somewhat now. going to buy groceries is so normal and part of life i guess
I wish they would have grocery stores in the base game, even a rabbithole one. Not having grocery stores feels dystopian in a way. And I just want to shop in a virtual grocery store honestly. I like grocery stores, I just don't like the social anxiety
Let me check my notes. Sims 3 pets: cats + dogs + horses + unicorns + small pets Sims 4: cats + dogs AND THE PACK THAT IS ONLY HORSES CAN’T GIVE ME A UNICORN!?
@@CamperSau What’s my problem? 1) Sims 3 unicorns had special abilities to bless and curse sims, pets and plants. 2) they had super speed and made excellent racing horses. 3) they could start fires and put them out with a little rain cloud 4) they had special animations of rainbows when grazing. Thus concludes my presentation on why it’s not enough to just “look like a unicorn”.
@@bargainbinredhead okay I get that, but I can imagine the possibilities from ea are limited. We ps3 players dindt had horses in sims 3, ea can't do this with Ps4 players again so they prolly don't have the possibilities like for PC players
I think a rocking horse or a stick with a horse head would’ve been so cute to add to this! Heck even pin the tail on the donkey! They really dropped the ball with kids.
The fact that they split the sims 3 pets into 4+ separate packs is just… saying something. And the fact that none of the pets are better then the sims 3 versions… is also saying something. I won’t say what it’s saying, but it’s certainly something.
As a riding instructor I like a lot of it. It's more realistic then I was expecting but I wished they had two careers, Riding Instructor and Horse Trainer. Preferably playable but not the end of the world if it isn't.
The ultimate proof that modders are the backbone of the Sims 4 community is me watching this video and going "Oh, there's gonna be a cc pack/mod for that for sure" every time Jesse mentioned what's missing lol
The fact that there isn’t a sim equivalent to Breyer horse toys for kids absolutely INFURIATES ME as a former horse kid. You’re telling me they gave us a DOLLHOUSE AND NOT A TOY HORSE STABLE ARE YOU SHITTING ME RIGHT NOW-
Literally listening to this as I clean out my horses’ stalls lol. Fwiw: the one competition a day thing must be a glitch or something the devs thought of, because it certainly isn’t realistic. Once a day is true for eventing, and I can’t speak for western disciplines, nor can I speak for dressage because I’ve never done it competitively. But for jumpers (Hunter/jumpers) most horses definitely participate in anywhere from 2 to 6 “competitions” (classes) per show day. The only exception is that jumpers may choose to only do one “competition” (class), especially if they are jumping a very substantial height. But many young horses or low/mid amateur riders will do a “competition” (class) at lower height before doing a “competition” at their usual height as a warm up or for the extra experience. Whereas hunters will always participate in multiple “competitions” (classes) per show day. Lol sorry that’s more info than anyone needed and nobody asked for it.
I'm pretty sure western is similar. Since cowboys and girls travel for rodeos they may enter multiple competitions over the weekend some on the same day
They probably just did that so you couldnt speed run to become a champion horse. It forces you to take the time with the sim therefore "fleshing out the pack" 😒😂
Imagine them bringing back dragons and having a medieval theme. We could get fairies back as an occult character. 🧚♂️ 🧚♀️ Have Renaissance Fair events like axe throwing or archery, and build castles. I think I just want a fantasy simulation game. 😅
I miss going and catching wild exotic parrots in TS3 and just having a billion of them in my house. I know most people wouldn't want this, but I would LOVE to be able to have a collectable pet tarantula and/or scorpion, and be able to get it out and have it crawl all over my Sim. Possibly even a new death and/or tense moodlets if they bite or sting you. Idk all of my Sims are just the type of person who would have a pet tarantula and it makes me sad I can't just go grab one off the ground like I used to be able to. I wish the collectable frogs could be handled too, even though you shouldn't handle frogs irl 😂 it's nice not having to feed your fish, but I wish Sims could do more than view their fish and frogs.
They KNEW what they were doing when they made that rainbow over the Waterfall. I cannot believe they would be so manipulative with how mysterious and vague they were in the gameplay livestream at the Waterfall and then not give us unicorns. I'm honestly pissed 😤
There is so much more potential in horses. I wish there was like a "public" stable option where you could go riding when you can't have your own horse. Or you could run your own stable where people could put their horses and you have to care for them. Or having a career as a horsesmith and going around fixing horseshoes 😆.
The fact they waited this much to make the Game Changers upload their videos is really telling imo. Might be the first time I don’t get an expansion pack, they’re the ones I always get even if sometimes I wait a bit more. And I like horses too, so…
I am disappointed how they did the nectar making. In the Sims 3, you don't have a recipe to make a nectar, but you can add every fruit in the game to make them, AND if that fruit have special effect, it Will give you that special effect (life fruit+ flame fruit+ plasma fruit mean your vampire Will reduce their ages by 1, get a positive moodlet, and get their thirst filled) it is so much more customizable. And nectar aging so much faster in basement also exist in the Sims 3 so I expect them to do the same as well
Honestly they could have gone for a brazilian countryside aesthetic or something like the region of Minas Gerais. They are really famous for their cheese so like maybe cheese making skill??? Also colonial portuguese architectural style and the mountainous region idk it could have been cool hahah. This american desert aes just feels a little boring.
Absolutely! I'd love to see them delve into native styles and native cultures(especially from africa, but I'm biased bc I'm South African). They said they'd represent native american tribes in this pack, which is sad because they didn't really deliver. It'd be a wonderful way for people to learn more about other cultures and for the people from those cultures to just be able to see themselves represented as well. So much of the world is based on white America and the UK, and it just sucks that a game franchise that prides itself on being able to be diverse and to make yourself in the sims is just so lacking in terms of not being all about America and the UK.
I really miss the ability to play as your horse or other pets that sims 3 gave. Some of my favourite game play was playing as my unicorn. I ised to run around town setting random things on fire then watch the chaos 😂
I wish there was a breeding option at the equestrian center like in sims 3. That’s annoying that you have to have two horses in order to get a foal especially since they take up household slots.
Not me coming immediately over to your channel first bc I trust you to say exactly what you think…good, bad and in between 😂 You hit exactly where my disappointment kind of lies. It never goes far enough. There were little things, things that made other expansion packs amazing, that make this one seem thoughtless. Like household/lot sizes, lot traits, ranch hand career, heck they could have done something similar to Cottage Living’s golden chicken to make some rare craftable treat to turn your horse into a unicorn since they already have the CAS items but it never quite gets to the mark. It’s also getting to the point with these pets being a part of your household slots, that half your house is taken up by NPCs which is not exactly fun to play. I want to like what they put out so much but they need to make it feel like they are trying rather than grabbing dollars. I didn’t think that was a high bar to clear, tbh.
As a horse girl, I am so EXCITED to make MY horse in the sims 4. It’s literally been something I’ve felt has lacked my game for years and now I can finally do it. So exciting.
It’s wild to me that people preorder these packs at this point. I always wait for you guys to review them before I touch them at all, and then I still wait a while to see if there’s any major bugs affecting the community.
i'm really loving the new room and your new hair colour and style really suits you! everything seems so put together. best look you've had yet :) loved the video!
I feel like my expectations were *set so hard on what The Sims 3 horses* were like, with *being able to control them, seeing how I am progressing during the race, unicorns* etc. But I am getting the pack, I think I should take a deep breath and give the new TS4 version a chance. I hope I will be happy with the new version too
Yeah to be fair it gets hyped so much for stuff, and based on rather TS3 or nothing at all that when it comes out doesn't matter what they do their will always be, they missed this opportunity, this could be better, why don't we have this, so I'm basically like yep I'm getting it and I will enjoy it even if it could have more in it, they had always said horses would be an expansion as they are highly complex and hard to make so its not like anyone wasn't warned 😂
just pirate this shit instead of giving EA $40. Goddamn, then you guys complain about overall quality of the game and yet still shell out the $. Vote with your wallets, jesus.
if u're not happy with what u're getting why would u pay for it? They separated the sims 3 pets into 50 different expansions for the sims 4 and they are literally less detailed than in the sims 3 when they came together
@ember9361 Stealing it isn’t voting with your wallet. It just invalidates your voice altogether. They’re not going to care for the feedback of people who aren’t even customers. If you don’t like the game just don’t play it. If you do then support the devs and pay for it, even on sale.
So, like predicted, this pack will be fun but extremely disappointing for the horse girlies and anyone that wanted accuracy on the horses. I'm honestly unsure if this is "What Brindleton Bay Should've Had" or "What Henford-on-Bagley Should've Had", cuz it really reminds me of those packs, but not in a synergetic kind of way, just in a "the same just a little bit to the left" kind of way.
Considering Sims 3 World Adventures put in Egypt, France, and China, they could have easily just put in Brindleton Bay, Henford-on-Bagley, and this new place into the same pack. And focused on gameplay features including how interacting or living with pets/animals might be a bit different in each location. Also like, they could have made sure to include previous packs and maybe added wild horses to certain locations by default (with an option in settings to narrow or expand places where you could find wild horses). They could make sure that actual unicorns could be found in Granite Falls, Henford-on-Bagley, and occasionally that isle in Windenburg. For places without wild horses, an option to turn one of those set-dressing buildings into a ranch (and maybe even change the look of it). Would have been nice to have the option to turn one of those buildings into a rabbithole grocery store as well. Even if we can't choose the exact building it would have been nice if we could somehow pick which neighborhood to add which rabbithole buildings, but without a limit so that we can add them to as many neighborhoods we want and be able to access them without loading screens. They could have added more than barely a handful of things for Native American representation. They also could have fixed gardening and then maybe overhauled it, so that we could grow plants that use a system like the one known for corn, beans, squash. There are games that are that in-depth about agriculture if they needed examples. One example is Sakuna of Rice and Ruin where you end up learning a lot about rice. And also could have used it to add more magical plants (because why not).
Thank you so much for giving an unvarnished review. Hearing early access experiences with it, what aspects are broken and which are functional, is really useful to me for deciding whether to get a pack and when. It sounds like there are some huge empty niches for the CC creators to fill...
The horses having new hair colors and us not even having hair sliders just blasted my brain through my ears (it was already halfway from yet another pack with nothing for kids and toddlers).

The horses feel really uncanny valley, more than normal for a Sim. The neck seems held a bit low and feels a bit thin, which might be a factor, but I think it might be the size of the head itself??? Like it’s 95% scale instead of 100%. I know there are breeds with smaller heads, but if that’s the same for all of them…seems weird.

THAT COULDA BEEN SO GOOD DAMN
I wish there were more after school activities for kids tbh, I miss that little skill boost they could get in sims 3 😢
@@sabresisterif you’re on pc, there’s a few mods that add after school activities. Off the top of my head, I think adeepindigo has some
Yeah I like the doll house, it's pretty but yeah we don't have nearly enough afterschool activities- especially after they broke Kawaiistacie's excellent afterschool activities.
If we can't control the animal then it shouldn't take up a spot in houshold.
It's so restricting.
Hope this helped :)
Edit: oops misread that, my bad.
Especially since chickens and goats act essentially the same as normal pets but don't take up household space
"Kids go feral for horses" yes. Just yes. This is so true. Child me was feral for horses.

You would have less content and a smaller world if it were a game pack. The horses likely wouldn’t have their own personality and stuff either.
They had the perfect opportunity to bring secret lots back with the hidden cave and yet they failed
@@AlinaMauMauI think a lot of the time it’s them forgetting, bc the sims 4 has so many little shallow things.
The fact that there's no weaving or beading has me LIVID
I figured that it was going to be very minimal compared to how they were building it up to be (like It being just a bunch CAS stuff, and not any actual gameplay mechanics,) but it’s even less then I had Imagined.
A cynical part of me is starting to think the only reason The Sims Team brought it up at all was to shield/deflect early criticism and concerns about the pack (especially with how dismal the effort to incorporate Indigenous culture actually was)
The gave base game 3 hairs that were created with the guidance of a Native American consultant. I think the oack has some exclusive styles also.
THIS! Especially since the world is based on Arizona! I’m surprised they didn’t include some Mexican inspired items :(
I love how the argument for Sims 4 horses having their own pack is so they can be fleshed out more, yet they were still better in Sims 3 Pets 💀
This is EXACTLY the problem with this pack. Plus the lame cas
I didnt played the sims 3 horses, but in what aspect they were better ? from videos they look almost the same.

The animal traits do feel like something that should be earned upon befriending a particular sort of animal
or opposite of Hates children like "baby fever" or something. we have family oriented but that's it
It would’ve been good as a like/dislike so the different „likes …animal“ would take up the trait slots

i think that for an EXPANSION pack it really is a crime they didn't flesh out the indigenous side.
The fact that Unicorns and Wild HORSES didn't come with a HORSE RANCH expansion pack really got me questioning everything

You forgot to mention that the new base game hairstyles are supposed to represent the indigenous peoples of North and parts of South America. Many people are complaining because they’re too “feminine” without realizing that in indigenous cultures, long hair isn’t gendered.
Considering this it blows my mind that people keep giving them money
cotagee living is not on sims 3 tho.
I love how people say that when packs are split, they get more fleshed out even though EA does the bare minimum with each pack
@@gabrielandy9272the interactable wildlife from sims 3 can be seen in Cottage Living
This should have all been part of the farming pack that came out last year imo. I am kind of sick of packs that feel like cut content from another seperate pack. Like how tiny living should have just been part of eco lifestyle. Idk. Maybe I am just getting demistified with the Sims lately.
i feel like the gameplay is really lacking in sims 4 recently like sims 3 pets still tops all the animal based expansion packs imo.
No see i completely agree. Tis a reason im not interested in ts5 at all theyre half assing ts4 and have from the beginning
"The glitches might be fixed on release" *hysterical cackle* yeeeeeeh that's not how they do things 😂💔
If anything there will be hundreds more upon release
That's so cute 🥺 Thank you for sharing this with us!
There is a medieval furniture pack coming! Idk if it means we're getting fantasy stuff in the future, but fingers crossed!
I hope the devs see your idea!
@@morinomajou less of a pack since it's a kit, but definitely could be a step in the right direction
It's a rabbit hole, still...
I wish they would have grocery stores in the base game, even a rabbithole one. Not having grocery stores feels dystopian in a way. And I just want to shop in a virtual grocery store honestly. I like grocery stores, I just don't like the social anxiety
@@alexthetiger7806 exactly exactly my feelings lol. dystopian
Let me check my notes. Sims 3 pets: cats + dogs + horses + unicorns + small pets
Sims 4: cats + dogs
AND THE PACK THAT IS ONLY HORSES CAN’T GIVE ME A UNICORN!?
The horse looks like a unicorn, what's your problem?
@@CamperSau What’s my problem?
1) Sims 3 unicorns had special abilities to bless and curse sims, pets and plants.
2) they had super speed and made excellent racing horses.
3) they could start fires and put them out with a little rain cloud
4) they had special animations of rainbows when grazing.

How they are limited? Tf? Yeah sorry I was expecting more from a multi milionaire company

I've been so dettached from this pack and all because i trully genuinely believe this could have been either a game pack or added to Cottage Living
As a riding instructor I like a lot of it. It's more realistic then I was expecting but I wished they had two careers, Riding Instructor and Horse Trainer. Preferably playable but not the end of the world if it isn't.
If im not mistaken I recall seeing on Twitter a screenshot showing like "jobs" or something and one of them was helping to train a kid to ride horses.
Playable careers haven’t been a thing since Get To Work so I don’t think we’re getting new playable careers
The ultimate proof that modders are the backbone of the Sims 4 community is me watching this video and going "Oh, there's gonna be a cc pack/mod for that for sure" every time Jesse mentioned what's missing lol
exact same thought went through my head
Since cowboys and girls travel for rodeos they may enter multiple competitions over the weekend some on the same day
Yup! I rode English and western for 10+ years and can confirm western riders do multiple classes as well! I’ve always ridden 1-3 classes per day!
They probably just did that so you couldnt speed run to become a champion horse. It forces you to take the time with the sim therefore "fleshing out the pack" 😒😂

I really wish we had some exotic animals too in sims, or even magical animals
What i’d do to have dragons again, I really wish they added them with the magic pack
I'd give so much to have pet reptiles and birds
Parrots!
They KNEW what they were doing when they made that rainbow over the Waterfall. I cannot believe they would be so manipulative with how mysterious and vague they were in the gameplay livestream at the Waterfall and then not give us unicorns. I'm honestly pissed 😤
It does look likes the Sims team missed a big thing: shoe etiquette around horses. Hooves hurt and can easily break toes and feet!
Did they implement any farrier careers or something ? That would've been really cool
I just wish they made unicorns connected to the cave quest thingy. Like you need to find them in the cave which would add some challenge.
The muddy clothes are so cool for storytelling but all I can think about now is random townies showing up in san myshuno covered in mud
There is so much more potential in horses. I wish there was like a "public" stable option where you could go riding when you can't have your own horse. Or you could run your own stable where people could put their horses and you have to care for them. Or having a career as a horsesmith and going around fixing horseshoes 😆.
the pink and white horse gave me so much nostalgia i didnt even know i had for a childhood barbie horse toy
“Adding a horse…couldn’t hurt…we’re not Tesco’s” Jessie you kill me 😂
That's a blast from the past. I was 10/11 during the horsemeat scandal.
I literally only knew what the reference was because of duckdan talking about it during the horse mode episode of simers Among Us 😂
Every time I think a Sims pack couldn't be more low effort, EA goes "nah, I think we can give them even less content this time."
And nectar aging so much faster in basement also exist in the Sims 3 so I expect them to do the same as well
If packs focused on different countries than the US, I bet there would be less similar items from previous packs.
Omg imagine if they put a rocking horse in the game for the toddlers and kids!! It would have been so cute and so perfect for this pack!! 😭🐴
Me when Plumbella says "all of the glitches" in the intro: 😏🍿
These really should’ve just been part of the Cats and Dogs or Cottage Living expansion.

Ember, chill, lmao
@ember9361 Stealing it isn’t voting with your wallet. It just invalidates your voice altogether. They’re not going to care for the feedback of people who aren’t even customers. If you don’t like the game just don’t play it. If you do then support the devs and pay for it, even on sale.
Super disappointed that unicorns aren't a thing. That was my favorite part in sims 3
As a fellow horse girlie I am very excited for modders to do their thing
I feel like the bare minimum would be real unicorns.
I can't wait to find out if the Crinkletops are related to and/or feuding with the Crumplebottoms.
As a DnD fan I love the cave rabbit hole! It just pleases my geeky heart.
Personally I’ve been liking the bigger overarching aspirations it gives more to work towards I wish more were like the newer aspirations like I feel like the writing aspirations especially would benefit from a single tiered aspirations
