"I know if I was a parent I sure as hell wouldn't let my kids take out a pencil and paper to write down clues." 1.- Why do you say so? "It's a good thing they make them ask." 2.- Why?
I taped this on my VCR (I always taped Nick Rocks), and this is how I became a HUGE fan. Think they look young? I was a little girl! Now I'm an old lady! LOL
I love them and I'm 15. My mom played their kids albums for me when I was young and I remember thinking that's all they did lol. When I found out they were an actual band I was super happy and they are currently my favorite band. I'm totally showing them to my kids once I get married and start a family cause I want them to be known through many generations.
I'm so glad you guys preserved this great moment in Nick Rocks (Nick Rocks, Nick Rocks, Nick Rocks) history. Somewhere I have a 3/4" of the first show you guys did for us featuring a great live version of "Cowtown". Now if only I had a 3/4" deck...
I have played that exact chord progression he does at the beginning. Fmin7 Bdmaj7 Emin7 A7 Dmin7 G7 Cmaj7 He had to have played something along those lines.
It's close, what I got was (at least judging by piano keys) C: Fmaj7 Bdim7/F Em7 Am7/E Dm7 G7/D Cmaj7 It's pretty much a descending 5ths progression, if the bass notes from the second, fourth, and sixth chords of the progression weren't inverted.
Ah, yes- at my house is the same LP that both these songs were on, the 1986 debut album. It's funny, I had mostly just heard the '90s stuff when I was younger, though all this time we must have had more. At. Any rate, even if I don't absolutely love every TMBG song I've ever heard, ever since I got into playing records, I've started to find that there is a very important aspect in music with listening to the entire album. No skipping around. Just listen to the full Album.
I knew they had The Courage The Cowardly Dog song with a little music video on Cartoon Network when I was a kid (my introduction to this amazing band), they do The Hot Dog Dance song for Mickey’s Playhouse I know this because of my daughter, but I never knew they also did something with Nickelodeon. One of the few artists associated with the three big children’s channel I’m not surprised about this at all
*shrug* Because for some bizarre reason, it's like TMBG's big hidden shame that they refuse to discuss, despite the fact that it's just Flansburgh lip-syncing the song in his apartment and fans have been begging to see it for years.
So would a lot of us. Their original producer from the time even told me it's not offensive, objectionable, or anything - the Johns just don't like it. Thirty years of dodging the topic seems a bit strong for just not liking it, you know? :-P
they must have been a One Hit Wonder. because i .dont remember them. wow, thats ancient, no texting or emailing the show. Get your parents permission to call..lol We were in the stone ages@
Jerod B How you managed to miss that TMBG have spent the last thirty years winning Grammies, getting loads of acclaim, and selling out concerts to this day, I have no clue. XD
I get the parents permission to call when 900 numbers and hotlines were common.... but getting "parents permission" for taking notes was a bit much. lol
I feel like this was the thing that traumatized Neil Cicierega as a child
Traumatized? I think you mean enchanted. But not in like the whimsical way, in the "compelled and changed in some unknowable arcane way" way
*wheeze*
TMBG, Devo and Talking Heads all ganged up and beat the shit out of Neil lmao

did TMBG invent on demand music streaming with Dial-A-Song??

Same media company..... Nickelodeon was re-branded in 1984 when MTV Networks took over.
They both bounced off each other..I vividly remember watching Ren & Stimpy on MTV in the early 90s as a kid
