the obvious thing that seperates those american commedians that go into successful movies is they create a character and try and build a story around it. usually just a character from SNL too. british commedians still try and write story-based movies, like invention of lying/hot fuzz/shaun of the dead etc. Sacha baren cohens the only one who built stories around characters for el thicko americans who cant follow the story.
simon pegg my ass his two english films that i've seen were great shawn of the dead and hot fuzz but his hollywood film "run fatboy run" was shit and he's not fat anyway
Some of the opening words, "Ricky Gervais: One trick Pony, or comic genius?"... We know he's not a one trick Pony by the difference between Office, Extras, His Podcasts and his Stand Up.... This video is well shot and edited. But it's irritating to listen to these people talk about Ricky Gervais and other British comedians/comedy. Whatever the purpose, need to come from a totally different angle in how this is produced... this will will only annoy lots of people, not raise interesting points.
I can't wait to see Cemetry Junction, but yeah I agree, there was a distinct lack of British people in Funny People.
I liked Lee Evans in the couple of movies he did he could have done anything Jim Carey could.
