  • It's been the longest time I have been wanting to learn how to use Jackfruit (Vietnamese: mít) as meat substitute. Turns out it was really easy to do! Join me as I improvised this dish using what was available in the kitchen to flavor this "vegan meat".

About 4 years ago we bought a ripped one and loved it , I saved three seeds , went on you tube and research about Jack fruit as we just bought it out of curiosity , never had it before , and I found out that it is a good substitute for meat , we now have 3 trees growing in the backyard , plus a bread fruit which is from the same family .

You need to boil it or steamed it first before you use it in your cookings to tenderize the texture.

Busgeeth Asha , I have never made it but I have ate it. I saw it at the grocery store, and didn't know which one to pick. To make the white part into meat, should it be unripped then? I suppose the yellow colors indicates is more ripe? Also you said it can be frozen. I meal prep so I like to make large quantities and freeze. Does the texture changes if frozen and put in microwave? Thanks in advance

Treat it like meat, or faux meat. You can marinade, cook in sauce. Taste is so neutral it will take onto any flavor you add. Have fun!

vegans please stop the tofurky or the beyound meat. face it your food sucks , soy bean water isnt milk.
meat eaters love fruits and veggies but we call food what it is.
food= meat dairy eggs , fruits.
rat rodent animal food= veggies, gardens, weeds, grains. all food yes but food for animals of lower origin. survival time food.

Leviathan rising why not STFU and give us a break. Many eat no meat for the health benefit and because we don't want to eat dead animals. Who the FUCK cares what we call it except people like you and your negative toxic comments, If you don't live the life style then maybe you don't need to get any answers here and need to stay in your own lane and eat your dead mutilated animals. Why comment at all . JUST to stir the pot and show your ignorance I guess,

    • @TacosOfInjustice

If vegans want everything to "taste just like meat" then their body is obviously craving meat and they're likely deficient in a vitamin that meat has.
