When the faucet has a sound like that and leaks, it means it needs either replacing or if possible fixing the internal gums so it closes correctly. It happens from time to time from regular usage. I just had mine doing the same thing, and for a time I did the exact same thing, but the maintenance guy told me I needed to change the faucet because the one I had could not be fixed (there was no way to open it and replace things)

it's seriously one of my favorite things! I enjoy the large supermarkets, too, but only when they're not busy (which is rare). I don't care for shopping when it comes to clothes, accessories, etc. but I enjoy browsing up and down aisles at grocery stores and mercados.
I grew up in the south suburbs of Chicago and am wondering what you miss/don't miss about living there in comparison to traveling in and around Mexico. What was your life like in Chicago (owned your own house/rented an apartment, proximity to downtown, food choices, entertainment, etc) and how does your life now compare?
that's such a good question! When we lived in Chicago, technically we lived in the town of Cicero (75% of the town is bordered by Chicago) and we were about a 15-20 minute drive from downtown (route 66 aka Ogden ave was 2 blocks away from us). We rented a 2 bedroom apartment in a 2-flat house owned by Kevin's parents, so we paid below market rent (a blessing and a privilege). We'd have pizza and tacos often, shopped for our groceries at Aldi (we miss Aldi! lol) and go out for sushi, thai food, and greek food (miss good asian and greek food as well!). I guess the main things we miss are certain foods and family. Our parents and siblings and nieces and nephews, especially the little ones. On the other hand, we get to have lots of really amazing food in Mexico that we wouldn't have (or wouldn't be able to afford as often) in Chicago. Tacos in Chicago are around $4 now and everything is going up! and we do get to see our family a few times a year with our visits to Chicago or meeting them up in Mexico somewhere. So there are pros and cons but we've found ways to make up for some of those cons. Thanks for asking this question it might be a good video or livestream topic idea!
The plants look super healthy! I really enjoyed watching your vlog and I'm happy to see you guys are feeling comfortable. Tu ensalada se me antojó bastante 😍 Después de mucho patacón y carne, una ensalada como la que hiciste me vendría bastante bien.
You are both an inspiration to my mama and I and appreciate all of the work you put into your videos and content. We have a video idea that we think a lot of future retirees would like to check out. We were wondering if you could do a feature on the cost of having live-in assistance for those who are looking to retire in Mexico and/or the cost of a nursing home. As you know, assisted living facilities or nursing homes in the US are extremely expensive and often lack the spirit of care our elders deserve. I've heard that having full-time help in Mexico averages 500-700 a month. Once my mother and I turned vegan and started eating 90% raw a lot of our health problems cleared up, but it would be great for those looking at Mexico to see a video on the topic so they can see their options.
Hi Ana, thanks so much for appreciating our work, we appreciate you right back! 🙏🏽❤️ We don't much but about assisted living in Mexico tbh but we'll make note of this and keep our eye out for an opportunity to include this in a vlog 👍 and yes once we get some practice in eating more plant-based I'd love to talk more about this on the channel also. Thanks for your sweet comment, Dora 😊❤️ We feel super lucky to be best friends, travel partners, and life partners❤️ Here's the order I put everything in the bowl: Purple onion (diced) Lime juice White vinegar (lime juice and white vinegar enough to cover the onion but not too much, this'll help soften the strong onion taste) Cucumber Cherry tomatoes (or regular tomatoes with the seeds scooped out) Carrots (diced or shaved) Parsley (fresh) Olive oil Cooked lentils (when I cook them I boil them with chicken broth seasoning) Salt & Pepper to taste Top with avocado when you're ready to eat and complement with oven-baked tortillas (tostadas) or tortilla chips Enjoy 🤗
One thing I like (from a distance, from the comfort of my own home), is seeing how many of the "houses" in Qro are just right off the street, like, you can walk outside and into an actual street. But when you're inside, it looks like a "traditional" home (I say "traditional" in the sense of what I know in the US). I think it's so cool. NOW, that being said, I don't know how I would actually like it if I were to live there. It would seem like it could get noisy and there would would be very little privacy, since people and cars are driving literally right outside the front door. Anyone have experience with this and would like to discuss your thoughts?
yea this particular house is located in a small complex, but once you exit the complex you're right in the city center. There are also homes in residential communities where you have to drive out to go to the store and whatnot. It’s pretty hot during the day, and a little chilly at night. Definitely bring sweaters or light jackets. A jean jacket is enough for me at night. It’s been raining frequently, but it doesn’t last all day. Time of rain varies, but when it rains earlier in the day, the rain clouds tend to disappear as if they were never here at all! Sun comes right back out ☀️ if you don’t have an umbrella, you’re usually not waiting too long for it to stop raining. At least that’s been the case for the past month 🙂
Tips: bring an umbrella, not just for rain but it’s helpful for the hot sun too! And always have your face mask with you. Querétaro still wears them and most restaurants will ask for them to enter.
You guys should have way more subscribers. You’re both very relatable and produce great content. Im arriving to Querétaro tomorrow and I’m there for 24 hours. Where should I go?

Wow how exciting! What part of Chicago are you coming from? 🙂 And there’s lots going on on weekends during the day. The Querétaro Experimental International Festival has events on Saturdays in the summer. He lives in a suburb of Querétaro where its’ internet lines are newer and the technology is better. While we live in centro where it’s structure for internet is a little more complicated and frustrating.
Hey, it's Jordan from Tangerine Dreams lol. I'm actually using the same company that they are. I have fiber optic internet with them and have never had any outages.
@@TangerineTravels lol not a bad name actually. Yea, I think we just got unlucky and also, there's a theory that the competition is vandalizing random Telmex cables on purpose, but who knows 🤷🏻♀️
I have Telmex for my internet as well and it's really fast and reliable. However, I also have an awful customer service experience with them... After signing up for their internet online and clicking the order button once, it created 5 separate orders and I got 5 emails with different order numbers. I texted them on whatsapp to cancel the other 4 and they wouldn't do it. The service rep told me to sell the 4 extra to friends and family. I said "You must be joking! I'm not going to become a sales rep for Telmex because a bug in your system created extra orders." After some more back and forth, I finally said "if you don't have the authority to cancel these extra orders, please connect me with a supervisor." And finally, after saying that, they cancelled them right away. It's not like this is some small mom and pop company, Telmex is one of the biggest companies in the country. For their customer service to be THIS bad is kind of embarrassing.
Hey! Thanks for coming by to share your tips for dealing with Telmex. Looks like there's a pattern of little accountability on their part. We kind of feel like they abuse their power because THEY KNOW they're the biggest provider in the country (pretty f'd up if it's true). A Telmex technician FINALLY showed up to our place yesterday and we asked him when he received the assignment to come fix our connection. His answer: just this morning. We asked "then what's been going on the past 5 weeks? How come they didn't send someone sooner?" He had no clue. Nothing we can do. No one we can hold accountable for this awful service? They even continued to charge Karen for the service as normal. 🙄 About asking to speak to a supervisor, I tried that during one of my phone calls to them and they said "they couldn't do that". Did you speak to them in English? As terrible as this sounds, I wonder if I'd have gotten further if I was calling in English.
Hey Tanya! I recommend joining the Facebook groups if you haven’t already. “Querétaro Expats” and “International newcomers and expats of queretaro” and “young expats Querétaro”. And there’s also “Chicanos in Mexico”. Also if you like to dance there’s a social tonight at 8pm at La Cabaña
We got by with our phone hotspot, SIM cards from Oxxo, and going to cafes for internet, but it was pretty rough. Telmex is “king” as the monopoly for internet service but their customer service is infamous. To answer your question, the best internet provider will vary from block to block. TotalPlay may have the best connection on one block, but Megacable may be stronger on the next one. It’s worth asking around the neighbors for their input.
Hi Jenny & Kevin! Thank you for sharing such helpful information! I'm moving there in June. I have relatives there. I'm looking for affordable therapy. Could you share contact information about for affordable therapy? Thank you!
you'll get used to it! Cash is much more used than credit or digital payments. It helps that the bills are different colors so that's an easy way to start learning the amounts. My advice, always have a monedero (a change purse/pouch for all the coins!)😊
Great video. Nice to see beautiful celebrities doing every day stuff we all do. Sorry to see that you killed the grass and had to replace it with artificial.
Depends what you like to do but we recommend strolling around centro, checking out the jardines, eating churros at La fábrica de chocolate, and depends what you’d like to eat there’s a lot of spots we can recommend. Message us on Instagram for more recommendations
Slowly but surely we how our audience grows. Saludos
Hi Rafael, I appreciate your compliment ❤️ we also would love to see our channel grow exponentially, but maybe we haven't figured out how to appease the algorithm gods 😅🤷🏻♀️
wander around centro historico of course, grab a double-chocolate tamal from Fabrica de Chocolate, actually, have you seen our Queretaro Travel Guide vlog? everything we mention in that video you can do in 24 hours!
Can you share the recipe for the lentil salad?
Sure thing! 😊 it's my favorite. Here's the order I put everything in the bowl:
Purple onion (diced)
Lime juice
White vinegar (lime juice and white vinegar enough to cover the onion but not too much, this'll help soften the strong onion taste)
Cucumber
Cherry tomatoes (or regular tomatoes with the seeds scooped out)
Carrots (diced or shaved)
Parsley (fresh)
Olive oil
Cooked lentils (when I cook them I boil them with chicken broth seasoning)
Salt & Pepper to taste
Top with avocado when you're ready to eat and complement with oven-baked tortillas (tostadas) or tortilla chips
Enjoy 🤗
Good to see you guys are doing well! Saludos desde China!
Gracias por el saludo! 🤗 do you live in China?
De nada. Si. De hecho China a sido mi hogar por casi una década. 你好朋友们。
@@fg9650 que padre, tenemos muchas ganas de conocer por allá!
Ay, que TELMEX. Good luck, Buena suerte.
It’s horrible and it looks like @lakarencita is going to have to deal with it.
Glad to see you've found the good tortillería
Thanks to you guys for the recommendation! 😋
I am moving to Queretaro next month from Chicago as well! I was definitely influenced by your videos. Do you have any recommendations for activities to do during the day? Thanks!
Wow how exciting! What part of Chicago are you coming from? 🙂
And there’s lots going on on weekends during the day. The Querétaro Experimental International Festival has events on Saturdays in the summer. Other things, you can visit museums, wander the pedestrian streets in centro, visit Alameda for a relaxing stroll, catch a movie at Cinepolis (the popcorn lines are ridiculously long but worth it).
What day do you arrive? If we’re still here we’d be happy to invite you to some of our outings - we have a small group chat with other Mexican Americans in Querétaro
@@EatBailaTravel Sorry I had some internet issues! But Im currently here and from the Southwest side of Chicago! If you are still here I would love to join you!

What a cute place to live 😍
isn't it? we're so lucky Karen and Dave let us live in their home for the summer 😊
recipe for that salad? Yummy! Very cute place!
Isn’t the place awesome! It has everything we need except wifi! Lol
You should talk to Jordan of Tangerine Dreams. He has good internet service at his home.
Tangerine Travels
He lives in a suburb of Querétaro where its’ internet lines are newer and the technology is better. While we live in centro where it’s structure for internet is a little more complicated and frustrating.
Telmex FINALLY came through yesterday!
Which internet company was the one that gave you connectivity issues?
Telmex
About asking to speak to a supervisor, I tried that during one of my phone calls to them and they said "they couldn't do that". Did you speak to them in English? As terrible as this sounds, I wonder if I'd have gotten further if I was calling in English.
@@EatBailaTravel I was texting them on WhatsApp in Spanish
So does Telmex say "mañana" every time you call?
For four weeks they’ve been telling us the same exact thing and the worse thing is that they still charged for month. Can you believe that?
“Ahorita!”
How has it been meeting other expats in QRO? just got here and would love to meet other English speakers 🙂
@@EatBailaTravel Thanks so much! Just joined them all :)
WOW I don't how someone can go that long without internet if you depend on it to make a living. What's a good company there?
Thank you!

What if u just left the boiler on then u wouldn’t have to relight it
then we'd run out of gas real quick 😅 it's not connected to main lines or anything, they have to come refill the tank every couple of months or so

Welcome. I am always watching your video. I have also small channel . If you have time please..
I duno why but I'm nervous about using the money lol I know I'm going to look stupid tryn to pay stuff 😅
you'll get used to it! Cash is much more used than credit or digital payments. It helps that the bills are different colors so that's an easy way to start learning the amounts. My advice, always have a monedero (a change purse/pouch for all the coins!)😊
