most fish, and the Amora does not seem to be an exception. According to the lineage it is in, can breathe air to a certain extent through their swim bladders. some fish can survive a few hours, some fish, even days, while breathing air. Betta fish actually exclusively breathe air. The remora might be very stressed out of water, but it is fine for the most part. Toying with living creatures isn’t a very moral thing to do, but at least they’re not actually killing the fish.

The remora /ˈrɛmərə/, sometimes called suckerfish, is any of a family (Echeneidae) of ray-finned fish in the order Carangiformes. Depending on species, they grow to 30-110 cm (12-43 in) long. Their distinctive first dorsal fins take the form of a modified oval, sucker-like organ with slat-like structures that open and close to create suction and take a firm hold against the skin of larger marine animals.

Edit: fellas, I have returned. Went out to the ocean and found one of the lil guys, I tried putting him down my pants but he was a bit slimy and he slid down to my leg and now hes still stuck there, I've tried pulling him off but he complained so he just kind of chills with me. His name is John also. I don't complain because I enjoy the company, he also pays rent and has a job (that he coincidentally only goes to when I'm asleep) I go buy food for him and he'll pay me because apparently we don't use the same currency as fish, which I suppose makes sense.
John can be a bit annoying sometimes, I'll wake up in the middle of the night because he was blasting Ocean Man on the speakers, we've got into a few fights about it but for the most part we've sorted it out. I've also woken up to a whole bunch of his friends sucked onto my leg as well, having a party or smthin, them sonsovbiches stole my booze one night and never paid for it. Luckily John's a pretty nice fish and paid for it himself despite not drinking it. I'm not sure how they got there in the first place to be honest, John says not to worry about it but I don't know .
Anyways, he says hes not gonna stay forever because he has a wife and kids back home, and the only reason he stuck to me was so he could get away for awhile and then just say to them that he was kidnapped by some person grabbing fish in the ocean (which I suppose is the truth). I'm not gonna question it, I get family drama and all that. He said he'll be around for maybe another month and then go back home. so yeah, theres your update. Not sure I recommend the rest of you to go steal one of these lil guys out of the ocean but the one I got is a pretty swell friend.

@@duggeeo4147 they can die at any point out of the water like how any of us can drown in the 30 second to 2 minute time frame. Now, 20 seconds wouldn’t be the end of the world if they had just caught it and videoed then put it back in the water but when the fish’s skin isn’t shiny then it’s been out for way too long. Whenever I go fishing, I only take the fish out long enough to get a picture if it’s a good one, carefully unhook it, and then I put it back in the water which generally only takes 10-20 seconds and the fish’s skin never becomes dry like in the video. I also dunk the fish in a bucket of water to let it breathe and keep its skin dry while I remove the hook.

Fish: I don’t know how long I will survive this. I have been plucked from my home for nearly 2 minutes now and the oxygen is slowly depleting from my body. I believe I will die.
Apparently these fishes can hold their breath upto an hour

How creative... anyways there are some people who believe somebody stepped on this fish but they survived and have to live with a step mark on top of their head for the rest of their lives

They eat parasites on larger fish like sharks and whales in exchange for food protection and a free ride. They almost never get eaten because they are so useful and have almost no meat. *Almost* never get eaten...
