I absolutely adored this. Wynne had perfect posture, moved around the floor beautifully, and his frame, his attitude, the rotation, every bow, were totally in keeping with a classic Viennese waltz. What a joy to see this performed with no gimmicks.
I loved this dance so much!! I wish Strictly would employ classical music more, when it's used well it can be so powerful. Katya is an outstanding teacher and choreographer and Wynne is clearly a talent. He could be the dark horse this year...They certainly got my vote this week ❤
I totally agree about the music. That was a proper Viennese Waltz. Wynne is a born entertainer and throws himself into everything. I had a feeling he would be good at dancing. He is a lovely guy as well. Very funny on the radio.
In contrast to many who are paraded as Opera Singers nowadays, Wynne Evans is the real thing. I have heard him at Covent Garden, admittedly in a supporting role, but he sang the title role in a rarely performed Tchaikovsky opera there, and has sung a string of principal roles at The English National Opera, Welsh National Opera and at several houses in Mainland Europe. He has a natural sense of musical timing and excellent deportment. In addition , with his popularity as Caruso in Go Compare ads, I hope and believe he has the potential to advance well into the contest.
@@Horichdaslicht1858 His mother ran a youth theatre in Camarthan and he trained at the Guild Hall School of Music and you have to be the tops to get a place there. Bryn Terfel trained there among many other famous names. I saw them both perform together in a very wet outdoor concert at Aberglasney House. He comes from a long line of talented Welsh tenors. He has morphed into radio and has become the Welsh equivalent of Terry Wogan.
Loved this.Quite agree that the elegance, music was great. Personally I wish they would play more ‘ballroom/Latin’dance music , instead of modern music 😊
I have been waiting decades to see a Viennese Waltz danced to it's musical style of origin on Strictly. I wouldn't have even minded if the routine strictly featured only change steps, natural and reverse turns and perhaps a fleckerl to emphasis the essential rotational dynamic of the dance but Katya beautifully choreographed the piece as usual to showcase the modern development of the dance too.
I mean, Strictly's never been as ballroom as this. Wow! That was so beautiful! It's a shame this was performed so early. Wynne is defo gonna go far in this competition. Glad he got a good score, but he could have gotten higher if he had performed later.
True gentleman .. beautiful Katya always has this kind of magical way to bring the best of her students .. she always keeps her celebrity a couple of weeks more than anyone expects
YES! No wasted time at the beginning. No gimmicks or props. No crazy lighting effects. Yes, technique could've been better, but it was a "proper dance" - Len would've approved.
I am old and have back problems so I can never learn to dance. However, I do love ballroom dancing. I would love to be able to dance a Viennese Waltz as well and Wynne did. Bravo!
I was really nervous at the start of this dance because I thought the music playing will be Bjork quiet, so thankfully was very relieved when it turned into classical. It was a dream to watch ❤

Next is Wynne Evans and Katya Jones dancing the Viennese Waltz. I thought the style, the dance and the music all suited Wynne much better this week from last, last week he was acting the comedy guy and now he can take himself and dancing a little bit more seriously which I hope and think is what he wanted, the frame was a little wooden and at times Wynne bounced thought his steps but over all so much better than last week.
score - *7* I'm very impressed with Wynne so far, is he being overmarked? yes, is he better than I expected? YEH! alot of tricky rotation going from clockwise to anti clockwise, very strong hold, very elegant, that finish at the end was beautiful. This traditional routine just worked beautifully for the two of them and helped the partnership come together. Posture was a problem but otherwise not a bad job at all
Is it just me or was he overmarked slightly. His frame didn't look right his left arm looked droopy and the footwork wasn't brilliant. He still did really well though and the choreography was incredible. 6/10
Our scores: Me: 7 Diya: 7 Kelsey: 7 Owen: 6 27/40 He’s actually good, I don’t know why I’m surprised I mean obviously he’s going to have a good ear for music. This had difficult choreography and he coped very well with it. He could lift his elbows a bit, work on the frame, the footwork was good though and I loved the how traditional and classical the routine was.

It was so fantastic
I've even written to the BBC and asked them to play Viennese music but never had a reply.
This dance was wonderful.
Beautiful! Sheer perfection for me! Bravo for your bringing the beauty of the Viennese Waltz to life!

Yes please more classical music this was stunning ❤
that hand at the end is SO beautiful, amongst other very well done stuff like closing on natural turns and crossing on reverse turns!
This is so good. I love Strauss music. I hope Wynne and Katya win Strictly.
Me too
🤩 What a performance & how stunning does Katya look. Just beautiful. Loved it 👏👏🥰
Surprisingly graceful! I liked this.

I think you’re right about lovely Len. He would definitely have approved!
He’s pickling his walnuts in heaven.❤
@@macsmiffy2197I have to confess that I didn’t know what you were on about to start with, then I remembered lovely Len’s sayings!!
No faffin' abaht.
I think Len would have given it a solid 'sev-eeen!' ❤
My favourite dance of the evening,I think Wynne could be the dark horse this year😊
Absolutely THE dance of the night for me, what a fabulous pairing, I smiled all the way through.
Brilliant Katya, number 1 teacher by far.
Best dance of the night
Loved that Wynne and Katya - you start watching this dance and it just draws you in - hits the replay button 😊👍
10/10 Stunning Waltz
Well danced. Love the music.
Lovely! I wish Len Goodman was still here to see this. I have a feeling he would have loved it. 😢
I just thought the same! Proper dancing
"proper" dancing to "proper" music. So beautiful and elegant!!
Absolutely stunning
This was so beautifully presented. The best viennese waltz of 2024!
He has a great personality and Katya is off the scale! ❤🥰❤️

That was right up my alley, late nanna would have loved it to, well done Wynne and Katya.
What a heartfelt performance and the music perfecto ❤❤❤Wynne is a great ballroom dancer looking forward to next week 😀
Love watching Wynne, he is so supple and great lung capacity, he and Katya are a great team.
I thoroughly enjoyed that....Wynne is a bit of a dark horse and the pairing with Katya is excellent.
I am old and have back problems so I can never learn to dance. However, I do love ballroom dancing. I would love to be able to dance a Viennese Waltz as well and Wynne did. Bravo!
God this might have been my favourite of the night. Such an atmosphere!
Nice to hear a bit of classical music on Strictly
Katya is a dream
Beautiful! Actually my favourite dance last night
Congratulations Wynne. You're making everyone from Guildhall very proud! What a star! ⭐🌟🤩
That was so sweet
I thought this was a really great dance! One of my favourites of his! So enjoyable! Performed beautifully xx
Wow sir much improved. Beautiful swing elegance spot on
Love this!! It's time someone danced the Viennese waltz to classic music 🎵
My favourite of the night 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
That's class so beautiful more of this please ❤❤from Ireland
He did very well and I liked the traditional music for the dance
I was really nervous at the start of this dance because I thought the music playing will be Bjork quiet, so thankfully was very relieved when it turned into classical. It was a dream to watch ❤
Loved this 🥰👏🏻
Wonderful!
That was lovely and looked very much like the choregraphy the dance in The Sound Of Music was the base for this
That's because the vibe is very much a classical Viennese waltz, which is what they were also doing in that film!

Even hideous bows on a dress couldn't ruin the dance. Looks like dressmaking department is doing their best to spoil the show.
Wynn has been dancing for many years even as a young teenager he was acting on stage with the youth opera, so none of this is new to him.
So good ❤
