      @@pmaggia Have you ever used 3DS Max daily? Every DCC has it's downfalls, even Blender. No program is perfect. No need to hate on new features of a program you probably have never used . Any improvements to any of these tools is a good thing for all of us as artist. It really depends on what budget you have and what you are trying to do with type of work you do. They all have their strong points.

      @@Rampuniernix I have Slate open most of the day at work and I'm working in it constantly. Even a slight improvement will pay big dividends for me. As soon as the 2024 compatible version of V-Ray releases I look forward to finding out. I'm optimistic.

    • @Rampuniernix
      @Rampuniernix Рік тому

      at least I tested now 2024 myself today and - yes, I know why I said to avoid speaking in past tense too quick:
      Even on the 2024.1 release, Autodesk is offering a SME with following "production-no-go" Bugs:
      SME is NOW offering readability on the Nodes, that causes just eye cancer. in the old SME was much better. who needs this: antialiasing on and off? Once created a well-working UI on any zoom stage, its all fine. (like the old one maybe did)!
      SME is now DELETING/DISCONNECTING accidentally probably unseen connections of other nodes while using the compound feature on selected nodes wich are really beeing selected for compounding them. THIS is already a production NOGO and disqualifies 2024 for anything else.
      SME: reordering Nodes still leads to nodes being placed somewhere far away in SME´s space under some connection conditions. Old Childsickness is still healed.
      SME: SME: The navigator is now much more worsen better. The old one provided the red box to be moved by just 1click on a destination and you are there. Now it´s gone
      not not everything new is gloss and shiny. Let´s stay real. =)

    • @ChipMatthews
      @ChipMatthews Рік тому +1

      @@Rampuniernix It's a mixed bag for me. I prefer the new UI but hate the accidental docking. Trying to delete a connection usually deletes whatever is selected in the viewport instead (solved by pulling it off the node it's connected to instead of using the del key). That was a problem before but now it's worse. I also find that sometimes when I move or open slate it stays semi-transparent. I like the direction and overall consider it an improvement, but it needs more time in the oven.

    Some very nice & easy to use features - but a large proportion of them were already in Max. ProBooleans does almost everything the Mod does. The List Controller allows all the features of that new animation feature you showed. But the Materials stacking feature is nice. And having just spent months learning Plant Architecture for games artists the Array mod (which already did offer spiral arrays) having actual plant Phyllotaxy is incredible - very informed & insightful of the Dev Team!!!
    Im also loving the retopo' tool - its amazing!

I have an Nvidia 1060 GPU and am considering upgrading to an Nvidia 4080. Do you know what kinds of benefits I can expect from the more powerful GPU when it comes to general workflow in 3ds max with Corona 9? Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thank you.

    • @EbolaStew
      @EbolaStew Рік тому

      Well, Corona is the renderer that will benefit least from a GPU upgrade as it is a "proudly CPU-based renderer" as they put it. That's not to say that there are not some things that will be improved or unlocked for you. If you use Optix Denoising. Or if you use TyFlow and certain parts of that (like the PhysX stuff or the Cloth features, I think). There are other tools like the new free Nvidia app - "360" I think it's called - that allows you to create custom HDR backgrounds that wiill benefit.

      boolean is not just "turning what was there in to a modifier" The boolean algorithm has been totally updated to work in more complex situations. A lot of work in having a goo straight forward workflow working with multiple objects, how to deal with materials has been revamped. The inclusion of vdbs inside booleans,....

  • @HusniArsyah

    This is why 3DS Max is `mocked` badly by Blender users because 3DS Max doesn`t GIVE A DAMN about `View port`... 😬
    Why people always thinking used 3DS Max for render production only? Why not use `viewport` or `real-time render` as the final result? because they can`t... 😬
    If not because of Blender, 3Ds Max will remain stone-aged... 😬
    Even though I was a loyal 3Ds Max user, I have to admit, the future of animation production will be swift to real-time render or viewport.
    If the game engine can simulate `Ray Tracing` in the game, why 3Ds Max can`t do the same in the viewport?

    4-Why Autodesk doesn't buy Lwcad and insert as their own or in-house plugin?... Because for Archiz seems stucked or stopped for Long time... We use primitive concepts or tools to model....
    5- Get better hotkeys...( In 2023 Autodesk introduced hotkeys) and people gave applauses)...I ask why so at this time? They would do it earlier... And even like that needs updating in this case....

      I disagree on the interface. It has improved since I started using Max 5.0. I (personally) hate the flat buttons like they do with windows and all that stuff. It looks like an interface from the 90s! Maybe add an option to give users the choice to change it to their desire, but keep the current one too.
      For those of us older users the UI is ok, could be better organized but works.
      Cheers
