Hey everyone, after years of attempts it appears I finally have created a video that UA-cam struggles to play! Some viewers are experiencing issues with the video freezing, stuttering, buffering, etc. at certain parts in high resolutions, even with very fast internet connections, due to the video's unusually high bitrate. If this is you, you can check the description for links to download the video file directly - either the full quality 11.3GB file or a lightly-compressed 1.6GB file.
I have you to thank for coming up with and sketching out like, 90% of the imagery in this thing, it would never have existed without you. ANYONE READING THIS GO CHECK OUT AVA'S LINE RIDER CHANNEL IT RULES
oh my god i am absolutely blown away. the pacing, the art styles changing through different phases of the song, and character transition from being gently nudged by the lines to thrashed inside a surreal chaos and then back again, and the absolute mind-blowing technical feat of (i assume some speed+FPS trickery) to accomplish that stationary kaleidescope effect, the *story* of the whole piece. why am i feeling so many things
@@58209 The kaleidoscope sections were post-production with green-screen-like keying - Ava made a separate track and then used some mirror effects on the recording!
Damn, I wanna scream out your channel from the hilltops. Not because you deserve anything, but because I just think there are so many people that would genuinely think this is some of the best content youtube has to offer, and it’s a shame they are missing out on it.
I dont know what it is but ive drawn lines in this game for 15+ years. Never did i think something like this was possible. Thank you for making memories on a line drawing game. I cried a little when the lyrics started. Such a beautiful piece on a beautiful game.
This is one of the best things I've ever seen in my life, plus a killer track song as well. Congrats to everyone involved in this project, this is just something else ⭐
This is *incredible*, I've seen so many amazing tracks and thought my mind had been blown for the last time but this made my jaw drop several times. The scattered letters... the use of colour... the kaleidoscope animations culminating in the sudden transition from lava lamp chillout to psychedelic breakthrough... I get a feeling similar to watching those first truly pioneering tracks back in the day, realizing that the future holds things I'd previously thought impossible. This is the best thing I've seen this year. Thank you for this absolute masterpiece
4min mark literally made my jaw drop…incredible stuff honestly you can tell so much care and effort was put into this. Shoutout to the artist R00 as well, he makes such good music!!
I love the sense of depth developed throughout the piece. The automation of the gravity and the camera were so seamless and immersive. The use of colour, so creative. I'm just in awe
holy shit, that was amazing! actually, words dont do it justice. it blew my mind and left me speechless. it was like visual sex, except on a cosmic level. im going to show this to everyone i know. i will never get over this
A lots of different things haha. Some hacked-in command-line features and mods, some post-production, a lot of collaborative ideas, and a lot of time. Color specifically is possible if you go to lineriderDOTcom and add ?layers to the url, click the thing in the upper right in edit mode, and then create layers with a hex code (e.g. #0000FF for a dark blue) at the start of the name of the layer, which makes a color picker appear. (The layers functionality has been around since 2018, but the color feature was added in 2021)
Amazing Rabid! I haven't actually seen a color track before this. Talk about a good first impression. I wasn't sure what stuff was in game and what was done through editing which was fun too. Thanks for sharing extra details in the discord to expand on questions people had. One part I'm still not sure I understood was the "CollidaScope animating" section starting ~3:52. The game looks slowed down, is this just slowing down the footage of the game? Fantastic work by you, ava and andrew. What an experience.
That's a new feature where you can do variable slow motion via the console, actually! Well, a relatively new feature, it was added near the start of 2021. I used it in my last release, ASDFGHJKL, too.
The kaleidoscope stuff was created by recording a separate track and adding the kaleidoscope effect in post, and then using green-screen-like keying to replace a dark blue background of the track itself with that footage in post.
This is insane! So beautiful!! The section with the lyrics spelled out as scattered letters is so brilliant, especially since they are still readable even as they are scattered in with the scenery. ̶ ̶I̶ ̶c̶o̶u̶l̶d̶ ̶d̶o̶ ̶w̶h̶a̶t̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶ ̶d̶o̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶l̶i̶s̶t̶ ̶a̶l̶l̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶m̶o̶m̶e̶n̶t̶s̶ ̶m̶y̶ ̶m̶o̶u̶t̶h̶ ̶d̶r̶o̶p̶p̶e̶d̶ ̶o̶p̶e̶n̶ ̶w̶a̶t̶c̶h̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶t̶h̶i̶s̶ ̶t̶r̶a̶c̶k̶,̶ ̶b̶u̶t̶ ̶I̶ ̶d̶o̶n̶'̶t̶ ̶r̶e̶a̶l̶l̶y̶ ̶w̶a̶n̶t̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶s̶o̶ ̶I̶ ̶w̶o̶n̶'̶t̶.̶ ̶ Nevermind, I did anyway. 1:48 OH MY GOD THIS IS INCREDIBLE 1:58 THE COLORS 2:42 oooooohhhhh (idk how you got things to go in front of bosh, but it is pretty cool) 3:00 THE COLORS AND THE VISUALIZATION 3:25 this is the moment where I kind of started to lose my mind. the CIRCULAR CAMERA! SO COOL! that is so cool 3:53 WOW. 4:20 I really was blown away here. I would have screamed if I was in a space where I could have. I can't open my mouth wide enough. Amazing work, everyone. this track gave me the most visceral reaction I've had to a line rider track since My Boy. I just started watching it again and it blew my mind a second time. That circular camera is crazy! feels so good!!
I got things to go in front of Bosh by making a second recording with the rider invisible and only those layers and a background on, and then layered it on top of the rest of the recording with a blend mode that made the background invisible :) There are various instances of this throughout the first half of the track!
i went to check out the "my boy" video you mentioned, and oh my heart. how are these LR tracks so emotionally intense? it's almost to much to handle. also now i know about Ava too. that's two awesome LR creators for me to follow. today is a good day.
Thankfully these days Line Rider has features that make music syncing much easier, such as playback scrubbing and music linking! I only had to crunch numbers to make some of the post-production effects haha
Jesus, you 3 absolutely KILLED IT!!!! This track is a joy to watch, delightfully trippy, amazing colors, wonderful scenes, great movement, there are a lot of good technical parts, just... Wow. Holy crap.
@@krissyboo6148 I answered this on the discord but I can answer it here too for others! Yes, most of the track is in 60fps, but 1:41-2:08 is 30fps (downscaled from 60 so it doesn't match physics) (because the rainbows got too blurry at 60fps), and then 5:30 to the end is 40fps (physics) (because layer automation code uses physics timestamps)
UA-cam compression goes hard on this one Wow, it's hard to believe this was made in Line Rider... SO trippy, I start to doubt which way is down half way through the track.
fun fact I upscaled the video to 4K so the compression wouldn't be so terrible and it looks pretty good now! But that created a side effect where now the video keeps buffering for lots of people at 4:30 haha

Credit to my collaborator Ava Hofmann for that idea! Check out her Line Rider videos, she's made some really amazing stuff of her own!

Color layers were added in late 2021! It's a weird hidden feature, you have to add ?layers to the url and then make the start of the layer name a hex code. The visuals for the animated backgrounds were made in a separate Line Rider track and greenscreened in with post production (kaleidoscope effect was also post-production)
