    Some of you may have already seen this when Super Flu uploaded it to their channel, but some of you haven't so I'm uploading it on my channel too! (Now that it's been 4 weeks and I'm allowed to)
    P.S. If you're disappointed because you thought this was new but had already seen it, I'm already working on my next project and it will be uploaded here and only here :)

      and right after that, how he made it seem like the lines wern't moving. That takes some serious precision man, has to be lined up perfectly with the frame rate, and that has to be done with a calculation of the distance between the lines and the projected speed of the "Rider" at that point in a free fall. Idk how there ppl do these things, but there's clearly some automatic calculator involved.

    • @Dextrius
      @Dextrius 5 років тому +4

      @@nickmagrick7702 I feel there would be a bit of that, but a lot of trial and error too. It may be a case of determining an adequate line set, calculating that set, and cloning it to fill the screen for a frame, and use that framework for the rest. Lots of manual work, lots of trial and error, and many hours were clearly sunk into this project.

    Well, I'm going to dive into the science of optical illusions, and its interrelation with video. There are a few key principles that apply to this that provide the effect of animation, but the main one in FPS. First of all, videos are basically just many images that play one after another in quick succession, so that the brain has a hard time seeing the choppiness between pictures, or frames. The higher FPS something is running at, the smoother the video will seem. But this principle comes with some interesting side effects. Lets say your filming a helicopter, and the rotor is spinning 40 times every second. If your camera is filming at 40 FPS, the rotor will have made a full 360 degrees or a full rotation in the time space in one frame, so that when you look at the footage, It looks as if the rotor is completely still. And if the FPS is slightly faster or slower than the rotation speed of the rotor, the rotor on video may look as if its rotating backwards or slow (effect seen at 0:14). In the video, we are just basically seeing a mural go past our eyes, but the speed and FPS the video was matched with the shapes so that with every frame, a shape goes off its original position being replaced by another, identical shape, making it seem like the picture hadn't moved. Now add small variations to each frame and you've got yourselves an animation! This is also why these shapes were generated with math and code," because getting an effect like that with luck and no post production is a million times less likely than winning the lottery.

    This is an eye popper of a video. Never seen something this detailed in line Rider, it's actually sorta hard to watch because of how trippy everything moves and how animated it is

    Where's that sample from? It sounds like the soundtrack for crash bandicoot 1.

    I can only image how hard it would be to sync up the rider, the frames, and the recording frame rate so it looked like he stays in the boxes at times without moving through them.
    And you know he is moving quickly both by his scarf, and his size over all.
    At times like this, i wonder if a secondary layer can be added take moves with the player, yet i know that is now how line rider works.
    still as amazing as it was the first time i saw it.
