I accidently took belt off when not at TDC and now both crank and Cam have moved and i dont know how to re align ass i left it for 1 year ? Can anyone help ?
Insert a screwdriver on the sparkplug hole on cylinder number 1 aka passenger side first cylinder , start rotating the crank until the piston pushes the screwdriver out of the sparkplug hole, than you rotate valve camshaft at OT mark , after that check both of the mark's should be just in place.

I'm planning on attempting this for an A4 B5 1.6 (ALZ engine code). Thanks for showing me the way. How many miles has the Bora 1.6 done? One main difference between the Bora and A4 is yours is transversely mounted, whereas mine is longitudinally mounted. But I'm fairly sure much of what you have shown here will apply to the A4 too
I think it hade done 180.000km, yes I probably will. I think you can put the front end in a service position (bumper and radiators etc.) just like on the 3bg passats. To give you more space.

When you are replacing the water pump, you always have to let the coolant drain? So a coolant replacement is always needed then too?
Yes you will loose a couple of liters of coolant when the WP is removed, so you need to ad coolant at least.
Hej! Håller just på och arbetar. När jag försöker ta loss den nedre bältskivan så roterar motorn och skivan. Det är alltså frågan om de fyra hex-bultarna som skivan sitter fast med. Bilen är automat. Hjälper det om jag lägger in D-växeln och provar? Har inte en sk impact gun, endast en elektrisk Ryobi. Tack på förhand.
Bultarna kommer väl loss normalt, alltså motsols?

Is the timing belt tensioner not reusable? What were the challenges one is to expect while doing this. what led to you changing ur pump? Thanks.
It probably is reusable how ever I would not use it again, imagine you swap the belt and after a while the tensioner pulley baring seizes. The same goes for the water pump.
Neither are expensive, but a timing belt failure due to a seized baring will be :)
@@mackanistheshit so I did mine, but the timing marks doesn't align all the time, it aligns 2 out of 5 times when I turn the engine. The misalignment is by two teeth, about 3 degrees. Any effect on my engine by this?
It should align every second turn on the crank
