The SLX MGL has gotten a refresh with some new technology

Shimano's baitcasting reel designs are divided into two types. Japanese model and global model. The global model has a large spool and thumb rest space as requested by Americans. I don't really like this design.

I like slx and have one but i just realllly dont like the blue

I dig it, I get bored during winter so I tricked out 1 of my dcs with that shimano blue gomexus star drag and a 100mm black handle.

Old one has a 150 frame with 70 spool.
New one is a 70 frame with 70 spool.

It would be great to get a full on the water test of this new reel. How it casts, how the distance and ease of both. How it feels catching fish small and bigger fish and how it handles both. Ease or not ease of set up for each lure size and what's the best range in this reel lure weight. Specs tell you only so much it when you use the real to fish that does the talking.

For the same price I would just get the Daiwa Salamandura SV TW 70. Its U.S. market counterpart, the Tatula SV TW 70 is a great reel. I like the way it casts and palms better than my Shimano Metanium DC.

Jp DeRose put out a nice video on the new SLX, unfortunately he made the false claim that the reel now has a 70 size frame.

So a mistake is a false claim…. Maybe be nice and give him a break. He is twice the fisherman most of us are 😊

@@fishinfool63 Your right. Maybe it was an honest mistake or he received bad information, but he should make a comment saying that it still has the 150 size frame. There could be some people that order this reel that think they are getting a physically smaller reel.
