Probably a little late for a answer to do any good. But the slx dc is the best and worst first baitcaster to get. Its very forgiving and works beautifully. But at the same time you dont get to learn how to adjust a baitcaster like you should. Everyone needs to learn on a non dc reel so they get to know and understand a baitcaster.
you'll have to do this test again, Shimano has an actual size 70 curado mgl now. I own both slx and curado 70 and both are amazing. if course slx is on my most expensive rod but the curado is on my worm rod for flipping. lol
I think its a more special reel and handle tolerance is a little better than the Curado. Im sure the Curado MGL 150 would be a more special reel in Japan since they arent sold there
If you could only choose one reel to use for the res of your life to do everything what would it be or at least one reel brand to choose, for me it would be the Shimano scorpion dc
MAN!! You have just proven again why your channel is handsdown the best when testing reels. Awesome video! Can i ask if you would buy these reels over something like the Piscifun carbon xcs? I know they are in different leagues, but is Shimano and other mainstream brands worth the extra money over reels such as Piscifun or Kastking, etc.? I own 2 Piscifun reels based on your assessment of them(phantom and carbon xcs) and i LOVE both, even more than my Shimano calisto, which i really still enjoy even though it is nearly 20 years old. Also, do you think it is worth spending the extra money on a dc reel or save the money and buy a more expensive rod? Thanks again for the best fishing channel in my opinion.
Thanks brother! DC brakes are a luxury for most and completely not necessary. However, an extremely sensitive rod for bottom contact will definitely help you catch more fish.
Some might like this comparison but, comparing a 150 spool to a 70 spool reels, the comparison isn't equal. The Curado holds 100 more feet of 12lb line and doesn't have DC technology, two large differences. The 70 holds 100M of 12lb, while the 150 holds 130M of 12lb. I hope others got something out of this, i'm only 1 person in fishing world. I prefer the Curado's finish, not as much of a fingerprint magnet.
Can someone please explain this to me? Im confused because based on my research for example tackewarehouse has them listed both as 150 size and same line capacity 12/110
Ok whatever can someone advise me which reel to use for 2 to 5 ounce swimbaits ? The anda DC MD , Daiwa steez hlc or the daiwa morethan 1000 or Daiwa 1000 zillion hd ? Or Shim conquest 200 hg?
Most 200 size Shimano Baitcasters will throw 1-4oz perfectly. My Curado 200k,ConquestDc200, Antares DC MD, Tranx 200. Anything over 4oz I use a 300/400 size reel
I’ve had two SLX DC XT’s since their release and it never fails to blow my mind no matter which setup I put it on. Launches any lure even down to borderline bfs territory on the lighter rods.
lol, that’s why they’re there. Casting well with a robot helping you doesn’t take skill. Casting well without a dc assist is possible.. and it takes skill… and that’s how you know who actually has casting skills.
@@seangoff9578 what a thought provoking and well constructed reply, thank you for opening up my eyes. I agree with your statement, sometimes when I’m tired of launching sub gram lures with my dozen bfs reels using braid thinner than your pecker I like the slx dc because reeeeeeeeee

If you’re gonna make a 30 minute video explaining why one is technically better than the other, you should also explain why you chose to ignore your own research by stating that you would still choose the SLX DC XT over the Curado 150 MGL that won based on your own testing.
I agree. But tbh I’ve just about given up on even watching the stuff this guy posts. He calls all the daiwa jargon ( such as sv boost t wing etc.- marketing terms basically ) propaganda and marketing bs. Yet swears shimanos marketing jargon is all an accurate term and not marketing hype. He just isn’t unbiased in any way. Even when he tried to be. Which is why I am trying to not watch his stuff these days. But I get bored occasionally lol
This definitely not an Apple to Apple comparison at all not sure what the point of this video, regardless how cost the price are. the JDM SLX DC XT is much more superior or more high-end than Curado 150MGL, plust the spool size is not even the same size in terms of depths too. Imagine the SLX DC XT were to be sold in American the price will be bit more expensive as well, IMHO this is just pointless. sound like your just bore and you just want to create something for people to talk about on social media that's all; right? 🤣😂
I'll stick my 30 Daiwa's vs buying more Metanium's or my other 25 Shimano's, Shimano's quality has gone down on anything other than 400 and up reels but Daiwa has been packing reels with tech from 150 and up!!! After over 25 years of using Shimano, I've moved onto Daiwa 100% the 8 years of swearing by Shimano spinning reels is now GONE!!! Now you tell us all you're not a fan boy yourself but all your comments and hearted comments on different videos revolve around Shimano comments lol Actions Speak louder than words!!
Durability and tolerances on the tatulas are trash. Have a Tatula 200 and a Tatula Elite and they are both going up for sale after a couple years of use. Not impressed.
Watch these 2 reels in a cast battle vs 4 other competitors here ua-cam.com/video/eaLH12TNroU/v-deo.html
I bought both of them last weekend . Because of your videos
Looking for my first baitcaster. Is the SLX DC a decent choice? Found a used one that looks great for $140

use a thinner line of good JDM quality that these reels are intended for. Try SIGLON PE ADV 12lb(#1) and you'll have enough line to fill a 70 spool.
Thank you for another amazing review, but I am curious to what lb braid you used. If you could let me know that would be great!

Gotta review the new metanium !!
Qual carretilha você prefere , curado 150 mgl ou curado m 200?
Gotta know why you would buy the slx over the curado? I would pick the slx due to the DC and jdm. 😁

Berkley Lightning?
After watching this. I gonna try skipping with my Curado 150 MGL. I didn’t think to try.

@@THEREELTESTwhich model?
What happened to the curado M mgl 200 the curado old one is it the old slx dc is that the newer one I like the curado better
I can cast so much easier (on 2 or 3) compared to my MGL. Using it for a year now and the mgl 3 years. Here in Europe there’s a 60$ difference btw
do they charge a tariff for importing reels?
What manufacturer and model of PE are you using?
With the casting test it didnt make much sense because the dc and the curado have completely different braking so how could you make them equal?
