- A lovely gift delivered to me this morning. A standard tree rose champagne moment aka lions rose or lions fairytale rose (dependent on where in the world you live.)
A kordes rose , floribunda that I know flowers very well. They say light fragrance.
Many thanks to my cute rose garden and the dog. You will see this again come flowering season.
Thank you very much, JJ and really appreciate you shared that story ❤️ I am now even happier that you have this rose and she will bring more joy and beauty to your wonderful garden 🌹❤️
Thank you once again Dilly. You will see her later this year ;) .
Thank you for sharing your story, that's a tough thing you and your family all went through. Well, what a great and unexpected opportunity to give tree roses another go. Hopefully you'll create some new (happier) memories with this one. I can't wait to 'see' your rose garden this year!
Hi and thank you. Yes 2 or 3 months away and the roses will be in bloom so a little wait just yet but they will get there. Thank you once again
What a great gift. Time to create happier memories, Jay Jay 😊
Hi there and thank you. Yes I’m pretty sure this standard will do very well in my garden. Thanks
What a lovely gift. This is the first for you to move forward. Enjoy!!
Indeed. Thanks Laura
Ty for sharing that story
Your welcome :)
Goes to show what a nice person you are JayJay and inspired so many of us. I’m a subscriber to her as well.
Hi Ken hope your well. And thank you. When are we gonna be seeing your garden again, anything planned or waiting until roses are out? Oh and your sister she’s only gone and got married :) 😂😂
@@Jay_Jay lol 😂 I know and she dragged me all the way to Thailand to attend her beach wedding… I’m very well Jay, I’ve certainly have gone a bit mad this year with another 18 more roses, all the parfuma collection and many more special roses which I have always wanted ( some which you already have) plus a few more DA’s . I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew. My sis has been pestering me to make a winter scene video, I would if I had the time. Peter from eastcroft would be so grateful for you visiting his nursery because I went a bought loads from him after your visit
Looks very robust, will make a nice addition to your collection.
Hi naffy sorry I’m not getting any notifications for this video. Thank you yes I think it will go very well. :)
What a great gift for a rose enthusiast, Jay Jay. Very nice of her. I follow her channel too. Surely this rose will bring back your memories. Good luck.
Hi sorry raj I only just see this message I must have missed it. Thanks mate

So nice of your friend....
❤
What a lovely gesture, I like it when you tell a story mate :D
Indeed Jason. And stories I have many. I’ve mentioned before I’d like to tell more stories in my videos but that Gav character, he poo poo’d the idea :) 💩 😂😂
@@Jay_Jay Please crack on with the stories, I think it make's for a better video mate :D
❤❤❤ I love what u do and I enjoy your..
Morning lovely gardener
Copy right that.
❤❤❤
what a fantastic specimen - big strong stock stem and so many grafted branches that are thick and strong
gosh what a story, families can be challenging at times; it certainly had my moments...maybe this standard is going to be the start of a whole new exciting era 🌺
Hi pottager yeah I think this rose will go very well in my garden. Rabbits will be doing well to climb that :)
Hi, dear Jay Jay! My congradulations, what a wonderful rose! Terrific condition! 😊
Indeed. And thank you
What a kind gesture. The lady who gifted it to you has got me thinking about doing the David Austin course but the one this year is fully booked. Your new rose looks so healthy Jay Jay.
Hi lovely Wendy. If you can get on the course go for it. I would definitely recommend it. I went on the one in sissinghurst castle last year and thought it was good. A lot of people stress over pruning but one of the takeaways I recall is it’s actually quite hard to get it completely wrong as roses are pretty damn resilient. Even if you hack it right back and leave just 3 or 4 inches of stem from the ground the rose will still bloom and quiet possibly grow back even stronger. (I’m not suggesting you do this of course). My point being it’s the fear of pruning that gets to many people when it’s not always valid.
Hello jay
Such a beautiful gift for you…. Looking forward to seeing the new update on this standard ❤️
Thanks ronnie yes I will update of course. Hope both you and Ray are well.
@@Jay_Jay we are fine thank you.
❤️ xx
I’ve got a new phone, as you know I’m useless at these things.
Cut a long story short the old phone didn’t save some of my passwords so I had to make a new instagram account. I’ve sent you a pm on there .
I hope you & Donna are well xx
Nice video jay
Thank you
Hello jay
Such a beautiful gift for you .
❤️
Yay Ronni. Hope your well. I did say hi on my last video. I did see an Instagram message from you but I’m just so useless on that platform. By the time I read the messages there already so old sorry about that. Hope your well and yes a lovely gift. X
That is so nice of her Jay Jay it looks amazing. I am going to find her channel I haven't seen it yet but rose gardens and dogs I'm in !
Indeed Linda. :) very nice of her. She has some great roses in her garden some of which ordered from abroad that we can’t get here.
@@Jay_Jay I've just subscribed to her channel, looks really good. I ordered from that company in the Netherlands at the end of Dec last year, my order arrived Jan 8th very quick ! I am very impressed and they were all a decent size too, I'll definitely do that again, well I will if I can make more room ! 🤣
Great roots and healthy growth on top - if only all the roses that we actually fork out money for looked as good as that!
Yes mate I agree 100 percent.
Nice gift! Good luck with it.
Indeed and thank you
What a great gift! I must tell you that after watching the video in which you showed you neighbour's rose Heidetraum, I decided to buy a standard rose Heidetraum Plus. I'm going to have it delivered in March, together with a Lark Ascending and a Desdemona. I don't need them, really :-) I'm not a great fun of standard roses but planting just one, as an experiment, why not :-) I filmed dozens of standard roses in the Volkspark in Vienna last summer.
Hi English, I’ve seen heidetraum as a standard and it is amazing. Lark ascending it’s difficult to find a rose that has prettier flowers even if they are short lived. I look forward to seeing these on your channel. Each of your videos I see new roses that you’ve had all along :) best of luck with your new ones :)
@@Jay_Jay Thank you! I'm desperately looking for a place to plant them, my garden is small and rather shady. Keep your fingers crossed ;-)
What a lovely gift 🎁 and a beautiful rose 🌹. Now this standard rose has given you a new memory. Looking forward to seeing the blooms.
Hi Lin yes me too. My mum has this rose now in her garden and seeing her grow as a standard I’m looking forward to also. Thanks
Very loving of her to gift you such a fine rose, truly, "From Russia with Love." Here is the Kordes link to learn about it. David Austin roses ar very fine indeed, but inmy opinion Kordes goes above and beyond what Austin does. It appears to me that Austin stays safely inside the parameters of what will please the rose buying public, but Kordes goes outside that "comfort zone" and ventures into the roses that can be challenging to grow with pure horticultural rose art as the goal. One specific example of that is the Pompon Veranda, aka Paschmina rose. Three years I attempted to acquire that rose and finally got one. Pashmina, in prolonged wet weather, is applicted with mummies or balling, Austin shies away from such roses.
I also have no standards, the standard raises the rose up closer to eye and nose level. The way that I accomplish that is to raise my large pots up on 100 year old hewn stones.
Maybe you can cut the sucker off, root it and graft onto it next year? Likely a rosa multiflora which is a rank growing weed.
2:31 Apparently I am quite naive, I have my entire life had the opinion that English people were quite reserved/restrained with their passions, what your sister did is sad and more of the hot Latin personality.
I myself spend many hundreds of dollars per year on gardening, and still, the money does not reach far enough to only get perhaps 70% of what I want to do, get done, I suppose that is many gardener's situation, with that in mind, your Russian friend really did a wonderful think, I wish you much success with it!💓💓
The flower color is what I would call an old heirloom color.
hello jay jay greetings from pakistan
Hi there greetings from the U.K.. :)
@@Jay_Jay God Bless you and use you for his Glory
just ordered several laxa rootstocks, the plan is to grow my own standards by budding in august. should be fun, but my problem here is coastal wind 😡, so I’ll have to be canny to keep them out of the wind.
Wow,
ladies and gentlemen someone has gone hardcore :) yes roontunes best of luck with them and keep us updated with how they go.
❤
Hi Seniye I hope your well ♥️
I am doing well! Thank you, how are you Jay?
That’s good to hear it’s lovely to hear from you. Yes I’m all good thanks
Oh congrats, the rose looks great! I'm really keen on Harlow car standard as it looks just sick drooping down from above with masses of small flowers! But I've got no space for it as the standard tends to grow really wide. Sad story, glad it didn't affect your relationships with roses! PS A suspicious number of Russians incl myself are on this channel LOL
If i recall Dilly (my cute rose garden and the dog) was selling a standard Harlow car. Just saying. Yes this rose is in great shape and I know champagne moment flowers very well.
can you give a link to the channel of this Russian lady?)
Hi I will try and add it here, this is her latest video.

Cool! A wonderful gift for a rose enthusiast! I‘ve got a Lions rose, very elegant beautiful form white rose with hint of light pink or light red on the petals edge. You get that shade on late summer or early fall. It has a lovely scent too!
Hi Gemma. Yes my mum has this rose in her garden now. It done very well last year. Didn’t grow so big compared to the roses next to it but flowered very well. You know my nose I don’t get fragrance from it but still a lovely rose and my mums last year very healthy. :)
