Excellent and inspiring! It’s funny that I have exactly the same car as you… A 2008 white Honda Odyssey! I’ve been thinking about getting into trucking or van expediting as well but this really sounds like a nice business to be in!
Thank you very much Herbert for the very informative videos! I"m studying for certification class next week and converting my van to a pilot escort vehicle. I"ll check out ATS after the class
I just got the insurance and completed retrofitting my van with equipment. I got signed up with Daily Express and ATS Friday.. Waiting to get my first load out now 😃 thank you
@@herbertschwarzgruber7013 thanks Herbert I hope there's going to be a lot of freight moving around Oklahoma, Texas, and Kansas this year (home area).. Have you been keeping busy?
I don't think you have to move your business to Texas to make a lot of money as a pilot car driver. I spend only 20-30% of my driving in Texas. The rest of the time I am outside of Texas mostly the rest of the mid west and east. Did you see my video where I explain how I run this?
Boy, I'd love to do this but I don't think I am set up for this yet. Are you going to have your own cars? Why don't you send me an email then we can go over the details. My email is info@highroadtruckers.com.
Well, it largely depends on what type of pilot car driving you engage in. A pilot car driver should start as a chase driver first (see my video on the chase car). It is the least challenging position and paid the least. You get between $1.35 to $1.50 per mile. A Lead Car often receives the same, and sometimes they get paid a little more ($1.35 to $1.60). The high pole gets $1.75 on average. Steerman receives between $1.75 and $2.00. So as a new guy, you make most likely between $300 and $350 a day. But you can work up to $450 to $500 a day pretty quickly.
In most cases you’ll have a 5 day week. If you take longer trips they may take you through the weekend depending on the State permits. The longer the trip the more money you’ll make. I once had a chase trip with a lousy rate that took 4 days and I got $2100 (incl. hotel money).
I didn't know this. There are also states that do not allow you to drive a pilot car under 21. I am not sure which ones these are but they do exist. How old are you?

I’m out of Dallas Texas. Maybe we can run together soon

Herbert Schwarzgruber thanks
Where do I find jobs?
Sorry for the late answer Najib. Watch my video "How to get Business for your Pilot Car Company right away?" this will answer your question.
hotels will NOT rent to those under 21. most will turn you away. liability issue

Where do I sign up for a class to get a permit? I'm in Wisconsin
