Why so much light to the sides?
Wouldn't a Reflective over Size sign be better?

All the lights on the side is so that people will see me when I have to sit across a road to block it so the drivers I escort make a turn or what else they need to do. We are not required my law to have a reflective roof sign. Beside, I do not use it much. Only in the states that require me to run a roof mount sign.

I only see all amber lights when I see pilot cars. Is it illegal to run the dual color amber/white which would make you more visible?

Depends on State. My state you can have amber / white.

My state is legal to run amber/clear but the state right by me (and I'm 15 minutes from it) is amber only.

Yeap it depends on the state; in Texas you’re allowed to flash amber & blue.
