I'm Paul Kerton, a former Personal Trainer and Vegan Nutritionist, I am now a full-time Social Media Influencer. Not so long ago, in a misguided attempt to try and grow muscle as quickly as possible, I ended up eating more animal products than probably anyone you've ever met. Through research, I came to learn the deleterious effects that eating even quite trivial amounts of animal products has on one's health and through personal experience, I found that far from being a hindrance to sports performance, a well-planned vegan diet is actually optimal! Then with an open heart, I looked at how we treat animals in order for them to end up on our plates and it shook me to the core. I could not believe that for so long I fell for the lies that others tell us, that we tell ourselves, in order that we perpetuate this destructive behavior. Destructive to ourselves, the beautiful, intelligent sentient beings that are here with us and indeed our very planet. To try and put right my part in all of this I was compelled to overcome my fear of being filmed for UA-cam and television, appearing on the radio and more recently public speaking. On a spiritual level, I've come to realise that my fellow man too is suffering. If I won't see harm come to a chicken I've never met then why would I be unkind to my brother man? If someone is being aggressive or unkind toward me, surely the suffering inflicted on them in the past is simply spilling over? Do I want to add to that, or can I step out of my ego long enough to forgive them and maybe break the cycle of negativity? This former, quick-to-anger "meat-head" bouncer has been on one transformative journey!

Lidl doesn’t have the most impressive frozen or chilled section for vegans compared to Aldi but you can’t go wrong with fruit and veg, nuts, beans and whole foods, a cut about the rest of the supermarkets in terms of cheapness. Also recommend the crusty sourdough rye loaf from the bakery

Me being vegan and living alone, my shopping budget is usually only about 70 to 80 pounds, for the entire month (maybe some extras, give or take). That's the equivalent of about four animal corpse & hormone-filled takeaways!

Here in Ireland I abandoned LIDL in favour of ALDI now after their scumbag carry-on with their lunch wraps. There was always a vegan option with the falafel and hummus wrap in both LIDL and ALDI, with both being the same price at €1.99, whereas many of the nonvegan wraps with animal flesh were priced higher, some as high as €3.29. I used to just throw 5 wraps in the bag for the week during my weekly shop, and never noticed the price, until one day I forgot my wrap going to work, so had to pop to LIDL to buy just one thing, a falafel & hummus wrap; and as it was just one thing I noticed it was €3.29. I thought there was maybe a mistake with the label or barcode or something, so checked with the staff, and they confirmed the vegan wraps had gone up alright. So I emailed LIDL customer care to ask why, and they gave me some guff about the rising cost of ingredients, staff, cost of production etc... Initially I thought, fair enough, if they want to do that I'll just go to ALDI instead as their falafel wraps were still €1.99. But the plot thickened a few weeks later when I happened to need another item in LIDL that wasn't stocked in ALDI, and passed the wrap fridge by the entrance, where I noticed that a lot of (and by now possibly all) the nonvegan wraps containing animal flesh had dropped in price to €1.99 from their original €3.29, but the falafel wrap stayed more expensive at the inflated €3.29.
I also used to buy the juices from the baby section, because they were organic juice from concentrate without any added sugar, just 50% juice concentrate and 50% water. But one day I thought my juice was decidedly watery, and checked the label only to discover they had reconfigured the ingredients to 5% juice concentrate and the rest water. Basically able to make 10 drinks for the same cost it used to be to make just one!
So screw LIDL, the thieving vegan bandwagon jumping bastards. They're no friends to vegans, so I'll be spending my money in ALDI from now on!

From my experience, (I'm Irish, similar to UK I imagine as Tesco, Lidl and Aldi are also some of the biggest chains here), the UK has some of the best value food in the world in supermarkets that are accessible all over the country.
Honestly, many of their prices are competitive with even things like CostCo in the US (of which there are a limited amount, theyre ginormous, not that local etc etc). And imo the quality of the food is better on average.

This food is awesome hench and so are you.
I keep my oats soaking in a jar in the fridge which makes them soft and creamy in smoothies.
Sadly here in Australia the meat and dairy sections of supermarkets are getting bigger. Vegans are really ridiculed and criminalized here in Australia.. It's like on big Texas here.

Amazing - cheap and nutritious, (also tasty) ! 😋 I generally go to Aldi or Sainsbury's. Btw, Sainsbury's have now also started doing soya milk for 50p. Prefer Aldi myself for when I want to get lots of fruit, veg and other essentials on a budget. 💚🌱

Leaving aside you being a vegan....for a bodybuilder you are very conscientious about your diet and health. A lot of the bodybuilders I see eats all sort of junk and wouldn't dream of looking at micro nutrients or what's in their food. All they are interested is in Protein in sny form even if its from a ton of Ben and Jerrys. Kudos 👏

For a lot of stuff lidl is more expensive than Sainsbury's, asda and tesco.
btw. The unsweetened soya milk from lidl is 50p same as Aldi, its the only one I buy, mixes great with tea and coffee whereas i find Aldi's splits very easy and doesn't taste anywhere near as nice.

No but the plastic that lines it can, if it’s BPA, BPF or BPS. Beans are so beneficial that I’m not concerned but I wouldn’t each much else from a can.
