This is a clip from my personal favourite episode “The potter’s field”, which was shown on BBC4 sometime in 2012. Our family watched the series as it was broadcast and recorded it later the next week when it was repeated, and have watched it many times since. And read the book too. I can only congratulate RAI and all those associated with the Inspector Montalbano series for the creation of some true works of art: from the brilliance of the original books, the beautiful photography, the production, the humour, the acting... it just goes on and on. If I had a hand in something as great, truly great as this series then my life would be complete. Thank you so much for something so good.
We just discovered the series on netflix and we are loving it. Fun look at Sicily. There is always time for food and coffee, Catarella is an adorable dumdum and Mimi is a beautiful walking stereotype.
They are full episodes, Italian ones. RAI cuts out all the advertisements. Would you want to start watching it and they start advertising for olive oil or something like that.
I don't know about Chile but this program and MHZ WORLDWIDE is going off the air in North America starting on March 1, 2020. I am going to miss this channel.
Maybe soon after the monarchy was abolished, but right now Italians aren't anti-monarchy; monarchy is just something that does not make sense any more, for us. We voted to be a republic long ago, and those who actually remember the days of the King are very, very old. You could hear some old woman or man nostalgically recalling the King and the old times while their grandchildren smile and roll their eyes, but that's about it.
not really, it's just a matter of.. nostalgia. You can be pro-monarchy, but there is nothing you can politically do about it. Just you would be seen as "the strange pro-monarchy guy".
Monarchist and anti-monarchist is not even a debate in Italy. We just never talk about that because no one ever questions the Republic. In Montalbano books and series there are many minor characters that are almost unrealistic, they represent little nuances of the Sicily of old times, or of what you can still find in Sicily today but just in the little villages in the middle of nowhere or among the eldest and not educated people. But it is often kind of forced. They are drama characters, like archetypes. Only the main characters are complex and deeply developed. And this is also what makes these books and series special. The presence of these almost unrealistic characters creates many hilarious situations.

Why aren`t there full episodes!
You have to write to RAI( or BBC) and ask them to make the series with full english subtitles at full length

I really miss this show... plus my cable company di merda doesn't have the channel that broadcast it here in Chile. Darn!

He loses his job if he comes out as a monarchist? Are people that anti-monarchy in Italy?
He is just pretending to be monarchist and vexed by anti-monarchists, so that the old granny is nice with him XD
He just wants to get info from her :) and saying that he is a monarchist will make her talk!
