The New York Giants Were CLEARLY Trying To Hide This From Us.. | NFL News (Daniel Jones, Saquon)

  • After starting the 2022 NFL season in about as good of a fashion as possible, some would say the New York Giants ended up ‘limping’ into the 2023 NFL Playoffs. But after their opening Wild Card performance & now advancing to the Divisional Round, Brian Daboll & The Giants might have just shown the entire league something they had been seemingly hiding for almost the entire back portion of the year.
With the NY Giants, it’s clear as day to most that this team seems to live & die by their run game on offense led by Saquon Barkley. And while this is true, the Giants were able to shock the Vikings while barely using him, & instead relying on the rest of the Giants offense, led by QB Daniel Jones and his ability to exploit their opponent with air attack weapons of Darius Slayton, Isaiah Hodgins, Richie James, Daniel Bellinger, etc. And the ways in which Brian Daboll was able to do might just cause trouble against the Eagles in the coming days.
But then, even when considering the Giants defense, their abilities sometimes seem to get overlooked. While this will be the area of the New York Giants their team will need to step up the most, with guys like Kayvon Thibodeaux, Leonard Williams, Adoree Jackson, Julian Love, Xavier McKinney, etc. leading the way, you can never count them and Wink Martindale out of making a play.
This video includes 2023 New York Giants highlights, also including topics like New york giants 2023, new york giants highlights, giants vikings highlights, giants eagles playoffs, giants vs eagles playoffs, giants wild card, daniel jones highlights, saquon barkley highlights, giants offense highlights, brian daboll giants, giants interview, giants live, ny giants highlights, new york giants news today, giants injury news, giants mic’d up, giants hype, giants espn, isaiah hodgins giants highlights, giants practice, giants vs vikings, new york giants playoffs, etc, which I do not own ANY of the rights to whatsoever, as these are intended to be used under the guidelines of fair use through UA-cam.

What’s been most surprising to you about what the New York Giants have done this season? 👇

    • @charsbob
      @charsbob Рік тому +7

Coaching matters. Neither Saquon not Daniel were the players they are now before the new coaching regime stepped in. Kafka in particular has demonstrated a genius for getting practice squad receivers open on a regular basis, and Jones' decision-making is exponentially better. Biggest areas of improvement right now would be linebacker and right OT. The latter will come as Neal matures. Linebackers should be a draft priority.

For me, the performance they’ve gotten out of their depleted secondary, particularly at the end of close games, is the most striking aspect of the team’s performance this year.

Clutch performances overall. When you look at the 2017-2021 Giants there were a TON of close games. Seriously we had to be up there in terms of one possession losses. Now, the difference is when we get into those "gotta have it" moments we're cashing in. We appear to have learned how to win when it comes to assuring that in clutch time we'll make the necessary plays. Killer instict + execution. Perfectly summed up by Wink Martindale's description of the defense's approach to outworking the other team: "we're gonna drag them out to the deep end and they're gonna realize they don't know how to swim."

Anyone who thinks Saquon is the reason we made it this far - didn't watch many Giants games but only studied stats which I think is exactly what you did. Because he rarely tallied a hundred yards per game this season. DANIEL JONES is the reason the offense was running on all cylinders. He threw for 300 and nearly ran for 100. In fact he wasn't that far from running for a thousand yards himself this season. And BRIAN DABOLL is the reason for DJ finally meeting the high expectations that were placed on his shoulders since he was drafted. He's had a GREAT year, especially when you consider that he's done it with no weapons around him other than Saquon. He's got Hodgins looking like a first round pick even though the Bills basically threw him away. Bellringer is looking like a steal but he was hurt about half the season.

Literally given no respect although his professional surrounds were terrible on almost every level then. This young man is a quiet assassin who never had a chance to shine those years. His humble, low keyed personality may never make him a modern day media darling, but his physical attributes, strong work ethic, intelligence, and team first approach will make him a leader and a "darling" for where it counts... to his teammates on the field!! The Giants are successful because they play to their strengths and hide their weaknesses. You won't see huge numbers from Jones every week because the receivers can't get separation. To make up for this, they design the run game around a dual threat QB and one of the best RBs in the league. This opens up the short /mid pass game a little bit too. Defensively they blitz a lot. The best way to disguise their not-so-great LBs is to pressure the opposition QB into passing after the first read. The one area the Giants NEED to improve is their run defense.

Daboll, Wink and staff are so prepared for every conceivable situation. And they adjust on the fly. That has to do with preparation. Everyone has stepped up their game. From DJ to Saquon to the wideouts to the defense. I like our chances against Philly but I never ever predict. Very superstitious about that. An area of concern naturally is linebacker depth. That has to be a top concern in the offseason.

Unlike most, I felt Danny Dimes was a first round pick who unfortunately was chastised for his past years performance. If you think about it, how many different coaches, o c's did he play for, how terrible was his offensive line, who did he have to throw to, and how unavailable Saquan Barkley was. Put it all together and you have a recipe for not looking too good. His talent with the new coaching schemes and surrounding cast has allowed his cream to rise. He along with his fellow under regarded teammates WILL bring us a Super Bowl.
If the defense holds the Eagles to 20, Giants win.
Thank you for your excellent insight.

Yes the defense doesn’t have big names but the guys play hard and they do their job and come up in huge moments a lot of the time, where as the receivers r by far the biggest weakness. Hodgkin s and slayton have definitely balled this year and deserve to be starters next year but imagine what this offense would look like if we got a true game changing receiver in the draft

Giants burnt saquan out. When we let Daniel do his thing,He doesn’t have 8 people stacking the box then that’s when he really eats..only 9 touches for over 100 yards. He looked unstoppable.. and on top of that the coaching staff finally shows that they believe in jones which should give him confidence which is why I believe he playing lights out. The biggest difference between this years jones and old jones is his confidence imo..

Daniel has progressed a lot this season and it’s due to coaching. He’s not thrown into situations that he could turn the ball over he looks more comfortable this year and the crazy thing is the o line isn’t as good as it should be and the wr group is if not the worst one of the worst in the league. Jones is an mvp candidate in my eyes based of the true meaning of it.

In order to continue rolling in this playoff I think the Giants need to improve their offensive line play, specifically pass protection. They are getting there but they are extremely outmatched by the Eagles this go round. I was at the first game at MetLife and it was one of the worst blowouts I have ever seen. With Barkley and the young defense along with their coach they are alot better, but they need more pieces especially in the WR department. Giant fans should be happy they finally have a head coach!

They need huge improvement from their middle linebacking play and the need Azeez Olujari fully healthy. That would give the Giants a much greater pass rush form the edge. I think that is going to play a major role against the Eagles. The WR core this year was their biggest weakness in the early part of the year but that is no longer the case as a lot of guys that struggled early on are starting to shine.

Still, even if they lose to the Eagles tomorrow, going from 4-13 and QB sneaks on 3rd and 8 under Judge to winning their first playoff game since 2011 with basically the same roster is an incredible development for this team. Coach Daboll deserves COTY simply based on that no other coach has shown what big of a difference coaching can make. Although, then again, we have to almost thank Joe Judge for that, too, for providing us the other end of the spectrum to compare Daboll's feats to.

A 16th YPC defense who were 31st against QB rushing...and SB ran 9 times then as well (with just 2 rec for 20 yds), DJ just 4 times...it was baffling if only to keep their O off the field. But last few weeks Kafka has been killing the play call...if it's like the Vikes game, this is going to be a very different game vs Philly.
