I love how the one girl responded to George's "thank you" with a "you welcome..." 🤗
"I'd like to do a song written by two old friends," in the beginning and "Thank you, John, Paul & Ringo," in the end, just eased my heart like no other can. Thank you, four, for everything!❤️🥰
“God bless …” not “thank you”

GOD, how I so miss 1974. The early 70's were the best and greatest time of my life...
You’re so lucky for living that era!
Indeed. The mid 70s were out of control. Sometimes great, sometimes...
@@jaygeecee13 I was 16 years old and I remember buying acid for the first time it was on a sugar cube.
I think I paid $15 for five of them

Love this version so much. Wish it was recorded or something. Billy’s part is so fuckin cool. The main in my life riff in this version is so badass. George’s raspy voice. All badass, George and billy are the best Beatles idc what anybody says
20 years after his dead still unforgotten: GEORGE HARRISON !!
He is UNFORGETTABLE!
He was that indeed!!!! I woke up people by posting it in all my music groups and I got a HUGE reaction, a lot not good!!!! Well, I taught them a lesson in Beatles that George wrote the one of the top 3 best songs written by all 4!!! I schooled them!!, hahahahahahaha!!!!!!!✌🏻2022
@@marilynbelcher8171 and which one that he wrote did you school them on?
@@marilynbelcher8171 I hope you're referring to Long, Long, Long. This song is entirely a Lennon creation.
I saw this tour at The Forum in Los Angeles. Still have my ticket stub and program. I think Robben Ford was 17 years old or something. I’d never heard of him before but I’ve followed his career since and was fortunate to see him play live and meet him. Met George too by accident in an elevator of a hotel. Super nice guy - he kept the door open for me as I was struggling with my suitcase, travel bag and briefcase. LOL. We talked briefly - i mentioned a way to add iron to Roses and he thanked me with a personalized autograph. I think Olivia and Dhani were with him but to be honest, I was so nervous all I remember looks at was George.
I saw George at MSG… on the Dark Horse tour in 1974… thank you for your music 🎶… it means a lot to me… rest well friend. Peace 🕊️
A documentary film was prepared about this tour, but it was never completed. Isn't that a shame?
isn’t it a pity?

It would be somewhere in a cellar and could probably be sold for millions today.

@@luanjoubert7454 Hi, right back at ya!☕
Nice how he thanks John, Paul and Ringo at the end.
Nice and legal. I imagine that he needed permission from the other Beatles to perform a Beatles song.
Paul and Linda were there...
@@Kermit_T_Frog, what were they going to do, sue him? NEVER in a million years!!
@@Kermit_T_Frog
Probably not, but does anyone really understand all the legal ramifcations of copyright?
Edit: sorry Kermie, that was meant for JSB
Not permission, he just needed to pay royalties to the rights holders. You don’t need permission to sing a song in public, even in a paid venue.
To put it on an album would require permission though.
Killer. I would have done anything to see George play live.

El más humilde de los 4,mi amigo George aunque no me conosca😢
I was at this show...awesome
😮❤😮 what a show it must have been!
I haven't heard this version before, but grateful that it was available so I could. I always love hearing different interpretations of classics!
Jeff Ceo, pick any song and just search who covered it. I had times I thought there was a different person who originally made it when it, was someone completely different!!!! LOL!!!! ✌
Great composition but i don't like this interpretation, its very lifeless
Love George ❤️
SEE??? George's voice WAS in solid form for some of that tour. I saw the last MSG show plus 3 in Philly.
Don't know why people hate this version so much, its amazing to me, a sweet ballad with rock touches that give it a very different atmosphere, but very beautiful at the same time! If you want to always hear the same, go watch the ed sheeran version, that, i suppose, people that hate this will enjoy much more...
Couldn't agree more. The last thing i want to hear when anybody covers a Beatles tune is trying to sound exactly the way they recorded it. What's the point? I'd rather listen to the Beatles.
@@fender.munoz7 had a stroke reading that
Have to admit that I hate it. I think hes tried to do too much to a great song and ruined it. Some like it. I dont. Music is all about individual tastes. If it wasnt there woud be fewer bands and it would be totally boring. Enjoy to those who love it
@@3kkoolguy Exactly! You are absolutely right!
I don't like it. I don't hate it.
I love, love this song.
I love, Love, LOVE George Harrison.
Some things are not better being New And Improved!
So, no disrespect.
I loved George then.
I love George still. 😎✌️
Giving me goosebumps!
To me, George was always so much 'deeper' in his understanding of things & that aspect was revealed in the lyrics of the tunes he wrote, which 'others' seemed to think to be 'out of step' with Beatles tunes. To me, they shone a light of their own. He certainly did a beautiful rendition of this tune, while was primarily John's work.
If only John could've been on stage singing this one, like he had originally planned. Imagine that . . .
It would have been amazing if John and Paul played at Concert for Bangladesh.
You'll never know how sad you sound :D
John hated this version. He told George not to play this anymore, and if he was going to play a Beatle song, it should be one of his own. He was upset because George changed the lyrics to talk about God.
@@martin2371971 when and where did John said that?
John’s umbrage of George changing the lyrics is interesting given the he was quite the practitioner of changing the lyrics of other people’s songs.
This is Holy
John And George were my favorite Beatles, but George was the more progressive rocker of all the Beatles period!
I love it that George played with other musicians after the boys called it a day. He definitely played well with others 🍏🕉
John evolved much more. Exclamation point
George was the best. Plain and simple.
He was the most interested in virtuoso musicianship. For sure.
If Joe Strummer, Johnny Rotten, Syd Vicious and Shane MacGowan could've shared lead vocal duties on Harrison's Dark Horse album, it would've been British punk's starting point. Course it would've required George to trade his beautiful lilting guitar stylings for a heavier, louder sound but it could've worked to punk perfection.
There's a bit of controversy about the "In My Life" composer credit. John said he wrote it solo, but Paul says he contributed. And George here says it was written by "two old friends". I assume he would know.
I'm guessing that "In My Life" is about 85%Lennon - 15%McCartney.
@@JeikiOKB That sounds about right.
@@JeikiOKBI Agree
Whether Lennon wrote it 100%, it’s a copyright Lennon/McCartney song by partnership. Positively George would not credit one more than the other. Even if he knew.
@@bhbm47 So if George had ever covered "Yesterday" or "Blackbird" or (more likely) "Across the Universe", then he would have introduced it as being written by "two old friends"? I don't think so.
McCartney says Lennon wrote the lyrics and he wrote the "tune" for it. But who knows? They were pretty into the Mary Jane at the time.
Whoa this is so goooood!!!!! I love George of all the Beatles.
ilove it too
Amazon is now running an advert featuring 3 elderly women reminiscing about sledding as children. A piano version of In My Life is playing. Its a sweet rendition of the song. I love George's edgier rock and roll version of this song too. Its just an example of how interpretative and adaptive The Beatles music still is today.
What an amazing and very touching rendition that only George can do ❤
I was at the show the next night at MSG. It was my first ever concert. Got comped tix from Tom Scott of the LA Express, row 16, center in the floor orchestra section. What a night!
Such a tender feeler. What an arrangement!
Not a good version, bad singing
What a beautiful 'recreation' ❤ And George's loving nod to 3 former band mates.
George played the assertive, bluesy lead guitar solos on this track, as well as, of course, taking lead vocals, which seem to be in finer form here at Madison Square then when we saw him at the Oakland Coliseum in 1974 (among the first concerts my brother and I watched upon returning from Britain to the States). Robben Ford played rhythm and second lead guitar, the Evergreen Billy Preston on keys, and funkmeister Willy Weeks on killah base, and Tom Scott's fusion band, LA Express on the horns and drums (I think Andy Newmark was on drums, but don't hold me to it).
Thanks for you insight Interesting about Robben Ford although George new talent and 'real' souls. Robben is a true player - arguably a unique jazz / blues / rock approach he supported Mike MacDonald when he left the Doobie Brothers, The Yellowjackets and many others. The musicians all know him as a great talent. This doesn't surprise me really that he would get on with George and glad they connected. Incidentally - Willy Weeks also played with Mike (and the Doobie Brothers) and of course Billy toured with Mike before his death RIP - they loved to sing Whats Goin' On together. ua-cam.com/video/Y48MpaYs_AU/v-deo.html
I was lucky enough to see Mike in Liverpool when in between songs he and the band broke into a Beatle tribute, Mike then announcing to the audience "Apologies everyone, please indulge us, we had to do that being here in Liverpool - we have hero's as well" It took several minutes for the standing ovation to settle down.
George encouraged Gary Moore to leave his Marshall stack at home when they recorded at George's house. The overdriven bluesman was awesome as we know as a rock / blues / metal guitar player with a Les Paul but George understood he had a sweet soul side that was being drowned in the volume and power of his Thin Lizzy and solo blues. Gary thanked him for this later.
George was a brave genius, always willing to try and explore something knew and support others, even if it might not be popular or globally well received - he didn't care. "How many pop songs do you want me to do? I did that with the old band" RIP #legend
Never heard this before, thanks!!!! Love you George!
Likewise never heard this arrangement. Would be nice in the middle of summer on a nice balmy evening. Could see Eric Clapton having some input on this.
Pretty sure I was at this show with my brother. It was the 70s :). Some gave us there ticket stubs the won from a radio show so we moved way up. Crazy seeing George so close. Pure magic
I really like this version. Like it A LOT!
Me too. Goosebumps!
Saw this Concert at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island, NYC in 1974…contrary to some periodical reviews it was a really good show.
Noice!
After almost 50 years what I remember most vividly was Ravi Shankar and the great Raga sounds echoing inside the old Spectrum in Philly. Ravi Shankar opened the show with 45 minutes of Sitar music. There were dozens of musicians playing all sorts of instruments. The audience tired of it all after a half hour and started to grumble. George finally came on stage but his voice was shot from the previous shows. I remember him singing In My Life and thought it was the highlight of his night.
I saw him at the Boston Garden during that same tour.
Ravi Shankar was sick and was unable to play, but still came out to say hello to the audience.
George's voice was pretty rough by that point and thinking back I think he was
pretty well coked up. Billy Preston was actually the best part of the show.
I saw him in Memphis, and I remember well the Billy Preston set, where Billy took control of the stage for a couple tracks. He did not do In My Life in Memphis; I'd remember that. I was disappointed by the quantity of the show that was allocated to Ravi as I was not at all into that music. But it was a good show and I'm glad I was there.
How sweet was that?
He used the song to thank everyone from God, Billy Preston, Olivia, and the Lads!
I'm using another song to thank you George..."I see the love there that's sleeping..."
Come back soon. 🌤
When hearing this I got so emotional. Sooo freaking good
Was at this show. Paul wore a black curly wig and sunglasses. Linda was with him.
Imagine working with John and Paul up front....just casting huge shadow. George's light still shone early.
Last a!bum was great!
I was there this was a highlight George was going through a lot of stress plus he had voice problems .
Os quatro jovens Beatles foram nota mil.Más para meu gosto George foi o melhor. O mais profissional, o mais bonito, o mais carismático de todos. George eu amo Vc. Eu sou Edna .Maria.
This was George's tortured-voice tour where he had to forego singing for weeks, letting Billy Preston take over those chore. (In reading other comments, I see all of the West Coast 'viewers' recall the loss-of-voice, which seems to have resolved by this mid-December show.
That tour was known derisively as “Dark Hoarse” because of George’s voice problems.
I was there fortunately.
Cool interpretation of the song, I understand why some people don’t like it as there’s this orthodoxy among Beatles fans about reinterpreting their songs. To be honest I was never crazy about Joe Cocker’s version of With A Little Help From My Friends. But all artists strive to make a song that speaks to them their own, that’s all George is doing.
I was at this show. I remember him saying this. Great show he had a sore throat that night.
He always had a sore throat on stage. He struggled to do a whole concert in the 70s. Nerves didn't help, in the Beatles he didn't sing a lot live but solo he struggled. Concert for Bangladesh his voice was very thin. That's why he couldn't do what McCartney & Wings did. Paul has been non stop concert-ing since 1963 & it's only these past few years it's telling. On the high notes. Keep rockin' Paul!
Nice to see and hear one of his concerts from 1974
Honestly I love this version
This was airways a very good Beatles nummer. But George Hans made it to a very good rock number. Thanks George and crew.
Great version. Robben Ford on Guitar already, afterwards he became a marvellous artist himself but very underestimated 🎸 !

Yeah, but the lead work here is all George .
We had floor seats to see him at the just opened Richfield Coliseum outside of Cleveland on Dec. 3rd, but was canceled due to a major blizzard that hit the Midwest. The band was snowed in in Chicago. I went into the Army the next day.
"I loved God more." Pretty nervy changing that song. On that tour he also changed the lyrics of "Something" to be about Krishna, but at least that was his own song.
I gotta find that version of something
@@keaneong4591 I read about it in Rolling Stone at the time. The audience was outraged so maybe George gave up on the idea.
One of his finals words before leaving this body was “hare krishna”, so we get an idea where is mind and heart were all this time.
Religious delusions plagued the minds of the likes of George and Elvis, unfortunately.

McCartney attended this show wearing a disguise. Lennon was going to join him, until George waved some legal papers in his face whereupon Lennon stormed out. Bummer. I saw him at the Montreal Forum, I think it was December 8, 1974. I was 14, and my first big concert was a Beatle. I saw Paul at the Forum in 1989.

Thats quite an interesting story!! Wonder what those papers were about. Something to do with the dissolution of apple and the beatles partnership (given the year this happened)? Or maybe something to do with john alowing george to play the song live and/or profit from the sales of it, given it was johns song (although I believe northern songs was already sold to someone else by That point and john probably didn't even own the rights himself). Do you have any source to share? Thank you!!
@@emigarcia1993 You're correct. The papers were to do with formalizing the breakup of the Beatles. It pissed John off, but I suspect George or one of the others had been trying to pin John down to sign the things, and he avoided it. That's speculation, but the story is true. I heard an interview with John where he described what happened. Shame, really. Sorry, no sources. I have my facts correct, but, having been a fan since I was not yet 4 when they were on the Ed Sullivan show, so there's so much I've digested on the band...interview here, there, and everywhere, and every era. Happy trails if you're truly interested. :-)

This was a real highlight of the show. He split the show so that in the middle, we had to endure 90 minutes of sitars, bongos, and Krishna followed by kick-ass rock by Harrison. As bad as my headache was, I guess it was worth it. Brian probably rolled over in his grave.
@@johngore1924 I actually like Indian music but that's not what I paid to see. I'm not alone in this; the critics tore him limb from limb on this issue. We all love Indian music but its the context that made it dreadful. As a 16 year old, I wanted to hear my hero belt out a few Beatles songs. He did and I'm grateful for that. But at that age, I couldn't possibly give 2 shits about Krishna. It took me 5 hours toiling away at my minimum wage job to buy the ticket. Was it worth it? Hell yeah.

I saw the show in Ft. Worth I think a few weeks earlier (may have been later) but he introduced it as " a song written by a friend 'of yours and mine' or ' friend we all know'.."
Anyway, obviously referring to John specifically.
These places have their moments. Very true!
First time I listen to this version.
I've never heard this version of this song, by John Lennon, I don't think it is as good as John's original take!
However, George would have been there at the original 'Beatles session, when this song was written.
George would have played on it at the time, and may have put backing harmony vocals on the recording.
This concert may have arisen out of his other musician mate's, whom he met through the industry, to come out and be part of an all star celebrity concert, do he would have been talked into the idea, and decided to do it.
George wasn't all that interested in doing live concerts any more, he'd gotten over it by the time 1965 came along, when all George wanted to do is live the quiet peaceful life of a recluse, in his multi hectare property, and mansion, that required a lot of renovations, rebuilding, and plant and restore the grounds back to some resemblance of It's former glory.
George had well and truly gotton over his time's as a famous 'Beatle'. He accually didn't miss it, he hated the idea of it.
So he did it as respect to those who wanted him to come out.
Doing this song, was possibly put to him, as a suggestion, of what songs might you want to do?
Together, they came up with 'Beatle' songs, because that is what the audience might enjoy listening to.
George may not had any say in it, he may have liked the song, as he and John got on great with each other.
Billy Preston had become good friends with George and the other 'Beatles', as he was there at the end, and he appears on the 'Let It Be' album, and plays on the live, roof top concert.
Doing this Lennon song, had to be put together in such a way, so they all could easily play it, plus they wouldn't have spent a lot of time putting the show together, with no rehersal !?!
George knew the song well enough to (wing it) and the others would have had some sketchy chord charts written out to guide them.
George's time was valuable, so he did it.
George did not want to be remembering his days as a 'Beatle', those days were gone for him, and he never liked the suggestion of rekindling the 'Beatles ever again.
When ever George was interviewed, and asked questions about the Beatles, he always referred to them and those times, as if they were those other people, not with himself, he'd refer to them as (the Fab) but himself as an outsider looking in, not as a member of.
Us as Fans, see him as part of, Ringo and Paul still refer to them selves as being part of 'The Beatles.
John saw them as over, never to be again, as so did George, always in the 3rd sense.
Read George's book ( I Me Mine ) there, Georgebtells the reader how he really felt, he said he was scared for his life, and since John was killed, brings it all home for him. George was afraid of the extremist's and nutter's.
He was a great musician and song writer.
He never seeked fame or fortune.
Version I just love this version of the song I think George did great on it but best for me I think George does great on everything anyway he's my hero who is now on the cosmic Empire
Thanks for sharing! Heard about this live version but never heard it. A good friend of mine saw the Dark Horse Tour '74 at the Boston Garden. His older brother & sister took him when he was 15. Loved it as it was a true happening.
I still have the ticket for his concert during this tour in 1974 in Chicago as it was $9.95 as I need to find it again somewhere! Anyone want to buy it? let me know. hahaha George's voice was shot as he could hardly sing the whole concert I saw.
