    Rudakabana was apprehended by the Police at the scene with the murder weapon in his hand stood over a murdered child with more than 100 stab wounds. He was witnessed by two adults and several surviving children committing his crimes. Can anyone tell me how anything said by any person could possibly prejudice the case against him ?

      Technically less than that. Remember, he was convicted of 10 accounts of attempted murder and one account of possession of a bladed article. All in all, each conviction was worth 3.5 years.

    My dad used to say "if there is no shadow of a doubt that a heinous crime was committed by the accused, then the death penalty should stand" I also believe that. This crime was so heinous there should be no other sentence.

      My husband Tommy is Irish, and is a retired Prison Officer who served at HMP Parkhurst for twenty five years. In that time he worked with a lot of monsters and depraved child killers. Tommy is of the opinion that the death penalty should be brought back the most evil of murderers.

    I agree that the death penalty should be restored as an sentence in extreme cases of mass murder and terrorist offences such as the Southport case, and where there is no doubt that the perpetrator was responsible. It is ridiculous to expect the state (through our taxes) to pay for 52 years of maintaining the life of this person.

      I learnt a long time ago that emailing your MP is mostly a waste of time. Once they have the seat, they don't care about constituents anymore (not sure they ever did!)

    There’s a petition about this topic but we need to leave the ECHR first before we can do anything. I agree we need to debate this & take it from there but it’s futile whilst we’re still in ECHR. We need real leadership like in the USA

    I think after a defendant gets a life sentence for multiple murder or some such atrocity the case should advance to a higher court to see if CP applies at a later date

      A second hearing, in effect. Such a 'death row' might just serve as a deterrent, but you can imagine the collective outcry from 'human rights' lawyers. The sentence would never be carried out !

    Regarding the death penalty, in a post by the Lotus Eaters, ‘The Evil History of Keir Starmer’, it was stated that Starmer interfered in the law making in Jamaica and persuaded them to abolish the death penalty.

    Death penalty should never have been taken away. It was always a sentence that could've been used for the particularly nasty crimes when the suspect is 100% guilty. This man that did this... well... no comment, I'm sure everyone is thinking the same thing.

    Agree with everything Rupert is saying. The problem with an individual 'challenging' things that don't look right is that administrations such as councils / government departments / medical departments etc will just close ranks on you. The whole culture is wrong and one person challenging something won't make a blind bit of difference. Only a complete overhaul is required.

    Just a thought ,was causing unrest /protests on the charge sheet during the trial and if not ,why did the judge state that he wasn't taking it into account during sentencing as it would have no relevance ,only to support a government intervention with regard to people imprisoned for unrest / protest.

      That creates division, which can lead to collapse, as it did with UKIP. It was Nigels dreams and hard work that brought us this far, he should be given his chance, I don't suppose he will wish to hold it for long,but his ability to work with Trump will be a bonus in what lies ahead. Rupert will be a highly valued member of the team,and the team is what really counts, not in fighting .
