Fishing Lure Hooks my Finger! This Sucked!
Tailor Fishing with my nephew and this happened! With one hand holiding the fish still attached to the lure and the other hand with the hooks thru my finger..it was Panic on board!

I shouldn't have but I pissed myself laughing Dom! The stuck plyers, the wiggling fish, the young fella (who did his best)!!!! It was all too much!!!

Good on yer Dom, 3 times I have said to you "I will not have a treble on my boat".
Having said that, about 50 years ago I caught a kingy out at the stragglers. I was using 4x5/0's. The fish jumped and I had all 4 hooks buried in my arm. Ended up in Freo hospital, still have the scars. Glad your OK.

Years ago I was in a very remote part of the Kimberly, two hours in any direction from a hospital and had to remove a treble lodged deep into a mate's arm. It involved much the same technique as you used except that it also required I make a small incision into his flash to allow the point through. I had saline fluid to flush wound and everything to do it properly but ended up with a second casualty... my nephew had watched the whole procedure and fainted when I put a nick in my mate's arm skin to ease the point of the hook through 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Sorry Dom but i did laugh during this vid. Had the same predicament back years ago on the Busso Jetty. Bonito thrashing around and one of the gangs in my finger. Cut the fish free and walked the 1.8km with the hooks hanging out of my finger. Went to the hospital {Old one on the foreshore and had them removed.. Been very very careful with thrashing fish and hooks since. Good on Anthony for keeping his shit together. Cheers for the laugh mate, From Busso

You were lucky the hook went through I had to use a filleting knife to cut out the last one that went into my hand. I crush the bards down on some of the lures now.

Sorry to see the run in with the treble hook. Ive had a few nicks but nothing thats went that deep thankfully.
Ive got the same jarvis walker red and grey handle pliers, ive found them useless as they are too thin to grip anything.
I might need to invest in some side cutters after watching your predicament.

I got tiny hook down into the tip of my finger,, 2 days later I had to go get it cut out at Westmead Hospital, stinging needles and scalpel ,, barb hooks suck

Handled very well mate :) Those double clutch trebles are very sticky and the way you handled the lure, this was inevitable. Better off just grabbing onto the fish immediately or a net. Im not being critical, ive made the same mistake hehe

Ouch Dom! I'm always super careful when dealing with trebles. Especially the small sticky ones.
I never get complacent. I always double and triple check my approach when handling them. I never grab the lure with a fish on, always use pliers etc etc....
Probably seem like a sissy but I always fish alone and I really don't want to have to deal with situations like this.

Rotten luck Dom, but lots of us know how that feels. There’s a great technique that involves using a piece of string or line to quickly pull the treble or fish hook out. Do a search and you’ll find lots of demonstration videos. The main thing is to push down on the eye of the treble/hook while the line is tugged. Good luck. Jim
I know that technique..it's manly used when barbs are stuck in. Lucky for me this time the barbs went thru and the best way is to cut the other side of barb and comes out backwards. Cheers👍
