What I really appreciate about this tutorial is that you didn't edit it but left in your whole thinking routine as you talked through it out loud to figure out how to proceed. It was as if you were here with me helping me on my project without you ever having seen it before. Thx! :)
I sometimes work on vacation photos that always seem to have some trash or electric wires messing up a lovely shot which distracts from the mood. I was lucky enough to go to Greece years ago and though breathtakingly beautiful there was always something messing up the image. The analytical part of me says I shouldn't remove them because that was the reality of my trip while the creative romantic part of me wants the magical allusion. So I have a rather large storage drive keeping both. Your tutorials a big help.
Another excellent tutorial. Your style is such that even those new to Affinity Photo can follow along. Been looking at the current videos, and now working through the older ones. I am always learning something new.
You didn't mention inpainting. I use the inpaint tool together with the healing brush and clone tool to remove objects. Sometimes the Inpainting alone works very well and I don't have to use other tools in Affinity Photo.
I am toying with buying Affinity, I use DxO Photlab for my RAW processing. But want another tool to do any photo edits like this. Your videos are helping me to decide whether not Affinity is for me. Thank you.
Excellent tutorial. As always there is more than one way to do this. In the first photo I would select an area around the sheep using the Free Hand Selection tool to select the sheep and then select Edit - Fill - Inpainting. In the second I think it's easier, possibly quicker to simply use the Inpainting tool.
@@OlivioSarikas Most of my work is in restoring old photos. Because of that I approach image editing in a different way to many using different tools. The Inpainting brush is a very powerful tool.
Nice,I love 'removing' objects lol. Dont forget the inpainting brush too, which I love, espec a combination of inpaint and heal or clone. LOL professional sheep cleaner.
Thanks for the video. Most interesting. I would suggest that you may want to tell us the version of AP that you are using as there is new functionality in newer versions that do not appear in your screen (or appear in different order) ie. Inpainting Brush Tool. Other than that you are doing a great job. Danke
I really enjoy your tutorials. And I could listen to your voice all day. I love your accent. What country is your accent from? Please keep making tutorials. Don’t worry about people’s negative comments. People leave negative comments on a lot of many people’s tutorials. Please don’t let them discourage you.
The most important thing for pet owners: 👆 The cat is hungry!! We don't have time anymore, hundred thousand viewers! Sorry. Anymals can't wait further ten minutes. No way. The world must stand still right now! 🙈 Animals before humans. Never forget that.👆 🧐 But very good video. Thanks for this!
Hi Marin, no, you need to remove that also. But reminds me of a old joke where the father says to the photographer "please remove the hat from my sons head in post" and the photographer says "does your kid have the parting on the left or the right?" and the father says "not sure, but you will see it, when you remove the hat" :D :D :D
Right at 1:54, I don't understand what to be pressed together. I repeated few times, still can't hear you clearly. Please let me know if you get a chance. Thank you, I like your tutorial.
Great job apparently on the fly. it won't totally get Photoshop out of my workflow for accurate jobs But Affinity is the best alternative to PS in terms of masking. For now and as far as i'm concerned and relevant.
@@OlivioSarikas I went further on the software. Only focus on photography. And I think about learning more about that new software so fun to use and so cheap.
Hi Torzell, thank you. Yes that should work too. The Healing Brush sometimes gives a bit hard to control results, so often i feel like the clon brush is a bit faster and more precise
Great video! I would go a much more non-destructive ways with masks because you could fix problems you find later much more quickly. But I think you didn't use them to make it not too complicated. :)
Enjoy your videos, very informative. One criticism , the cursor moving around to quick and wiggling about from one end of the screen to the other. Just needs to slow it down and more directional. Keep up the good work.
Thank you, Colin. Not sure how i could do that. Moving my mouse slower would considerably slow down my progress on working on it and make the tutorial a lot longer
How about planning ahead a bit? You left a mess on the top sheep that could have easily been blended with a couple of strokes from another source. You left messes on all 3 pictures. Also how about the inpainting brush? And paining a solid color on a textured surface? Adding a blend mode would have made it work (overlay?) I am not trying to be a jerk. Like you I am constantly on the wrong layer when trying to do something. But after the second one you would have been well advised to edit out the meandering errors and make a video that is quick, to the point and enjoyable Take a look at Affinity Revolution tutorials. HE probably screws up as much as the rest of us but only leaves it in if it teaches something. There is a lot of room for more great tutorials and I look forward to yours
Thank you for your suggestions and good work on spotting the errors. You should keep in mind that my videos aim to display examples of a the technique, not provide a finished picture. As such i do not edit out errors i make during the work process, because they act as examples of what to look for. Design is not about being perfect 100% of the time, it is about experimenting, exploring and learning from errors. I have found some of my best techniques by making errors (for example using glow as a blend mode for textures like rust). That said, yes i have a lot of room for improvement. So feel free to help me with your feedback in the future. Maybe try a nicer tone, because i do this for free, i don't have to do any videos at all.
I didn't do tutorials in a long time. So i got to get back into my game. Also the sound didn't work as well this time. But i will figure it out and get better with every episode. Thank you for watching and commenting :)
Thanks Olivio! I just used this on one of my portraits for www.nilsdecker.com. I had a reflection of my flash in the mirror inside an apartment which I removed with the techniques you described. Worked like a charm!
Hi Darian, i think you got the wool pulled over your eyes in this case. Because, i sheep you not, this is a photo from the UK :) - Link is in the video description :)
the photo with the Volkswagen is indeed taken on de stadhouderskade 115 in Amsterdam (Netherlands) - (you see also the "nee / nee" stickers at the mailboxes and a bag from Albert Heijn (a supermarket close by (120meter))
It was and no it can't because it's important to know more than just an automated method. Especially with textures and patterns in the background you need to do it by hand
UPDATE: In the video is say S-T-R-G, but actually mean the "Control" key. On a german keyboard it says strg ;)
THANK YOU , i was looking like what kinda keyboard does this guy have!
Ahh, thanks for explaining, I was wondering what you kept saying.
I came here for this info 😂

This is so helpful. Thank you

Agreed, a lot of this could have been done with the inpainting brush tool.
How can you do this if your photo has perspective?
FYI: when you discover something, always say "uh UH", it makes your work come out better. source: trust me bro. ty for the tutorial btw :D
Keep up the good work, just started using Affinity so any tips are useful. All info is great.

Hai.
You Not mension what the keyboard for Mac I have to press
Hi Rudy, you can look that up here: shortcuts.design/tools/toolspage-affinityphoto/
Can this be done on a JPEG photo ? I realize that I did not shoot in raw
Hi Impact, yes. Absolutely. All my tutorials are done with JPEG. :)
I could not download the third photo, it only saves as HTML. Also the steemit dtube page does not exist.

If I remove the object, the shadow will disappear automatically, I wonder?

Hi Torzell, thank you. Yes that should work too. The Healing Brush sometimes gives a bit hard to control results, so often i feel like the clon brush is a bit faster and more precise
excuse me sir when you say s.t.r.chi are you trying to say ctrl eg: control
yes, stupid mistake on my side. it's STRG on the german keyboard, but i really should say "control"
I figured you meant CTRL but I was so confused lol "WTF is STRG???"

Hi Phis, yep, that's it. But you are right, using extra layers is better to be able to go back on your edits.
Love Affinity, but my computer it is . too old to run :(
Sorry to hear that Waldir. Give Gimp a try, maybe that works better for you
