This game seems really cool and the world is so lush, the crafting and building system is pretty unique. Unfortunately, crashes are expected for such an early release, but man, it's got promise.

This game... This game will be huge a couple years from now. This and Vintage Story will dominate the survival sandbox genre, and if not, well, they will make me have grat fun...
I don't think VS is much of a sandbox. It has a clear progress and play loop, and you can't stray much from that. It is a voxel survival game with a procedural open world, and thats it.
@@MedievalFantasyTV It does have progress, and so does Minecraft, but I meant a sandbox in the sense that you can do whatever you want with it y'know. Like, if you want you can forever keep using only flint stuff and create a huge dirt hut, or you can go for steel in the first week, or you can just build a giant farm or live inside a cave until you die.
We can hope. It’s a single guy behind the game far as I can tell, hopefully they get the funding they need to put a team on it and polish it up and improve it in ways they can’t do alone.
this game is messing with my brain when you look at something it feels so far away yet when you approach it becomes as tall as you, same for the river, feels gigantic and when you get to the water is just a puddle. trees feel tall yet again when u get to them ur almost as tall as their trunk
That's because of LOD (level of detail) algorithm. If blocks were rendered at their actual size, at that distance, they would be 1 pixel or less in volume, which would not only look jittery and unpleasant to the eye, it would reduce performance and make an engine like this impossible to run fast. Voxel engines use a lot of tricks. Only voxels that are visible are rendered. Player is basically walking on a "hollow" volume. The underground voxels are not rendered. Creating an illusion as if there are millions of voxels.
I personally feel like Vintage Story is in a perfect state right now but I never played the game before (would like to and probably will but don't have the money and time for it)
i do, especially when he looks down onto the river it looks like he is standing atop a cliff looking down from a far away but in reality he is really close. i think it's caused by our brains being just so used to the scale of blocks from minecraft
I appreciate how... honest this video is. No annoying over the top editing or anything like that. Its just the video. I'm definitely keeping a look out for this game.
The game feels great just watching it. Would love to see some more 'size' choices for mining. Maybe mining could be connected on the tool's material and calculate the 'breaking-block' speed through individual voxles. For example, wooden tools can mine 1 voxel in 0.1 secs, thus when mining bigger chunks, it takes longer but more blocks get broken down. Accompany that with mining animations and my god, it has so much potential!
This game is cool af, it gives vibes of a lot of known survival games like minecraft and vintage story while being so unique at the same time, that crafting system is nice
i don't know if my mind is just ruined, but the whole time it seems like you're flying 40 blocks above a minecraft world and everything is a huge build
This is pretty cool and unique, although I feel like crafting needs some work Don't understand why you need the extra step of first putting something on the ground and then going into another crafting menu I mean, I do, but I feel like there could be a more elegant solution

Great stuff here - so far the tedious part is crafting - having to place it on the ground …if you have the pieces the ingredient crafting UI menu shows what to craft which the icon itself can be a button to craft when you have the ingredients…..maybe at first you have to put the items on the ground until you build a crafting table to simplify the steps. Just thoughts.
wow! its turning out very very well so far! it looks very very good for such an early version, but i do have some things to comment on if you wish to add them in later on for a bit more detail: maybe add a push button for any large objects like falling trees or anything with physics, or some way to carry then so you wont get stuck in them or so they wont hurt you if they fall on you or something. and second: i think being able to dig gravel, sand, dirt and anything simple of the sort with your bare hands at the start (not as good as with a tool obviously) would be kind of nice just to give a bit more sense of freedom(?). or maybe im just used to other survival games letting you do that, in which case its just ignore this if you dont wish to do that, thats fine too. anyway, its great. keep up the good work man, excited to see the future of this project :) edit: i think this is another much further future thing you can add in if you wish, but i think a chisel item would be really cool to add in where you can use it to carve individual voxels to create details in stone and wood, if possible.
Looks cool, but what i dont like is, the walking through deeper water makes a splashing sound. However thats not true, it would only make the splitsh splatsh sound if you are walking over wed sand/puddels.
