I use my PTO days faithfully!!!!
Get out of the routine thinking you need to go somewhere when you're off..you don't. Relax, work on your empire, and some days do nothing. NOW there are times when you do need to get away unplug and have downtime/fun. Don't allow corporate to pressure you for you have earned your time off so take it- they will just replace you and keep it moving. I will take the PTO days any day of the week. We can actually sell our time back for money but not me; time away is priceless.

@anenaadenya579 Yup. Taking off just to take off is severely underrated. I knew a woman who would take a bunch of Half days on Friday for Spring and Summer.

Just work for an Airline or for a Tech Company. Unlimited PTO is fire.
Unfortunately that’s not true for all airlines.
Unlimited PTO means there’s no pay for accrued leave when and if you leave the company, and there are typically also utilization rates so if you’re on PTO over 5% of the you may be put on a PIP or not be eligible for a bonus. Not all that it’s cracked up to be. 🤷🏾♀️
@@calikeisha365 It is when you're out of state almost every month. I travel a lot and for people who do it's amazing. My last job I cashed out 80 hours of PTO and didn't travel anywhere for the fear of "Using all my PTO" Wasn't worth it. I basically live on a plane now.
I had an ex coworker tell me that the company was sold and everyone lost ALL of their PTO. They talked to attorneys and it's not illegal, so they were basically out of luck. What baffles me is that they continue to work there!!! I quit when 'that company' bought the place back in 2021. I take my PTO as soon as I have access to at least 2 to 3 days. April I took a cruise for 5 days. I am currently on 5 days off to get things done around the house, appointments, relax by the pool without constant thoughts about work, and travel around this area and discover things that I never have time for. I fit these off days around the weekend so that two of the days are not 'against' my PTO. When I cannot get good sleep, or start dreaming about work, I know it's time to take OFF!! We have to put it on the calendar ahead of time, but I find it easy if I don't pick 'high' times like holidays.
The interest rate has increased eight times since March of last year, to 5% now. My retirement fund has suffered greatly over the past few years due to inflation at 7% and mortgage rates at over 7.5%, so I'm wondering how older people retire and survive in such an unsteady economy. Obviously, now is not the time for me to play the long term game.
I completely agree. As someone who recently retired, I had very little in retirement funds compared to my portfolio balance over the previous three years, no debt, and approximately 1.2 million in outside retirement accounts. Actually, one can only neglect rather than deny the importance of the invt-advisor. just need to conduct research to identify a reliable one.
The important thing is to manage your money, not how much you save. It still comes down to income vs. expenses whether you work for a living or invest, so sure, you might check into financial consultants for a plan that works for you.

I would love to be able to travel. I haven't done so in over 15 years. I'm a single mom and praying that this will change. God knows that I would love to travel.

I know in the education space a lot of the to time in many places they try to prevent you from taking days. Educators don’t even get any PTO or vacation days.
I enjoy a balance. I love to get paid my high salary and I am one of those people who definitely takes all his PTO for the year.
I'm not a fan of people coming into my house so I wouldn't do Kindred.
I worked at an unlimited PTO Company. It's all based on approval from your boss. That is the caveat. But I was able to take off 40 days and all my work was done.

More PTO is way better than more pay! Time means more to me than mom the older I get. Especially when I have a family

More paid time off! I can create other streams of income if I have more time. I can use the opportunity to help my retirement find.But I won't turn down a higher salary either.
I had a manager not want to tell me when how many hours we get just because he said "I'm not sure, I'm don't really use mine"... I definitely & will always use mines. I got another manager & got the info needed. I think it's health to take those "JUST BECAUSE..." breaks. No matter if you sleep all day or work on other things that you see fit or travel.. it's your time!!

I prefer the higher salary. I always use my PTO. I'm currently contracting and miss PTO. I have friends that don't take their PTO. I don't understand. It's like a badge of honor to them.
