Thanks brad you are very well spoken, I was skeptical, However as a last resort before sending the car to a dealer I tried disconnecting the battery and touching the terminals together as you instructed and it solved the problem for now, hopefully for good, The only down side is I lost my code and will have to wait until it appears again lol. Thanks again and again.
Thanks so much for this video. This worked on my 2003 jetta tdi. My scangauge -e came on right on after doing this. I've been trying to figure out for a few weeks!
Not offhand. As mentioned below, it might be temporary and might be permanent. Candidly, it's been 2.5 years since I posted the video, and I've since bought a new car, so it's not as clear in my mind as it was, since I no longer have the vehicle/problem. Here's what I wrote back then... Let's put it like this. For most people, it will restore OBDII connectivity. For some it may be temporary and for others it could be permanent, as it resets the ECU, but but there could be other issues that need to be addressed. Let's assume it's temporary. If you have a smog check due and your OBDII is unresponsive, you can't likely get your smog check completed, which means your car won't get registered. But if you do this trick and get there before the CEL comes on again, you might well be able to get your car smog certified. So it's not necessarily a permanent fix, but it can be helpful on several fronts.
The more I think about it the more sense it makes. What do you do when your lap top locks up? You reboot it lol. Your car has a computer also so likewise you reboot it using Brad's method. Your a genus Brad !
Richard Spaulding Well, it’s not a permanent fix for some people, but hopefully for others at a minimum, it will give them access to their port for further diagnosis and testing.
Fantastic thanks for this video,I was almost going to buy a new scan tool thinking it was broke until I saw this, did the disconnect battery and works fine now, thank you sososo much👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

does a ecu reset could cause damage to your trany (auto's)? since it has lost all his data/memory and dosent know anymore what is the true condition of the trany. like he cant adjust oil pressur correcly because of the ecu reset?
hey can you help me out please. I bought a HUD display. It's not working properly but it turns on, so I assume the fuse is OK. Then I thought maybe the device was defective, but when I tested it in another vehicle, it worked fine. So that means there's something wrong with the obd port of the original vehicle. Would connecting the battery cables together work?
You could try it at your own risk of course. Just follow the instructions precisely. You might first try to connect a different device to the OBD port to make sure it is also unresponsive.
Not quite as easy if you have a diesel and two batteries. I have a walk-in step van, and one of the batteries is very hard to access. I’m planning on relocating the batteries, or turning them sideways, to make them easier to access/service. But in the mean time, it’s difficult to do anything with them - including checking the water levels.
Yes. Disconnect the battery hoses and connect them together so the juice can run down the pipe and circulate. Then reconnect the hoses to the battery nipples.
Did that and guess what my car would not start again..Had to recover it to a car electrics guy with 30 years of experience 8 months later we managed to get the car started..And the fucking OBD2 port still not working.. UNLESS YOU KNOW IT FOR 100% AVOID THIS PEOPLE WHO HEARD A THING OT TWO FROM THE OTHERS. LUCKY THAT MY MATE ONLY TOOK £200 OFF ME.. THERE ARE DEVICES YOU CAN BUY FROM VARIOUS ONLINE SITES WHICH ALLOWS YOU TO READ DIRECTLY FROM THE ECU.

jj191981 As I mentioned it may return, but it will reset it temporarily at least.
@@BradWillis Any ideas on the permanent fix then?

@Morgan Augustine Yea, have been using Flixzone for since april myself :D
@Morgan Augustine thanks, I signed up and it seems like a nice service :) I really appreciate it!
@Alijah Adonis Happy to help xD
Taking battery off help with my case with odb not responding when engine is off. Thanks!
Try putting the antenna up, may just be a bad signal
As an FYI, the problem later returned. But this may give one OBD2 access temporarily, if not permanently.
dude your 'fix' is bogus

same question,as i buy new scan tool and im not sure,is the problem with the car or tool
Brad Willis does this fully reset ecu as in does this fully restore parameters, I have just had my car mapped and don’t want to have it be erased

touch battery lines ? ???
lol obviously without the battery connected

@@anthonyrybczynski5420 Battery nipples 🤣😂👏
P
@@anthonyrybczynski5420 Are you serious about battery hoses and juices that run down pipes? It are cables. Electrons flow through it, not a liquid.
Wait slow down could you go over those two things again
jó lett a video
