It wouldn't update immediately, even with a download and a cable, etc. Finally, set it to Recovery Mode and let it alone for 6 days. It finally got the firmware upgrade and now works perfectly.

No doubt that Bose make great speakers but ......... I was very disappointed that I could not access my in home NAS (network attached storage) through the Speaker 500 & Soundbar 500. Come on Bose update the firmware on this range to allow for access to our internal LAN's via WiFi or wired connections to enable NAS access. Paid cloud services are great but what about all the personal music libraries that we all have.
I have it since December 2018 and still I'm very happy with it. The only thing which sucks is the room in which it stands because it is very bad for sound quality...

I repaired the product at a BOSE service center in March 22... & few months back in June the same issue again ... have written numerous mails to Bose but they keep informing to visit the service center again for repair .. what is the guarantee that this issue will not happen again. I think with Bose standard I'm being sold a faulty product .... Never a Bose again nor will recommend this product to anyone

I think my Sonos Roam is even worst, the audio pauses with Bluetooth and Airplay, Alexa gets stuck and it’s impossible to play Spotify through Voice command, and, even worst, the battery drains pretty quickly, many times, the device doesn’t even want to turn on, showing a flashing red light in the bottom of the speaker, it gets super hot when it’s charging, and I don’t like its battery life at all, very lousy. I don’t really recommend the Sonos Roam to anyone, it’s the worst wireless speaker you can buy for around 200 dollars, yea, it has a great sound but it’s buggy, the Wifi and Bluetooth connections are pretty bad, and the battery is really lousy. So, don’t buy the Sonos Roam, I’ll choose the UE Wonderboom in stead, is much better than the Sonos Roam no matter if it only has Bluetooth
Assuming it supports AirPlay II - can you not use that to sync with older SoundTouch devices? I have a soundbar 500 and that pairs with my SoundTouch devices no problem.

None of them. I would buy the Anker Soundcore Motion +, Dockin D Fine + or Teufel Rockster Cross depending on how much money you want to spend. (I'd say the Teufel is pretty much the best portable speaker you can buy till now.)
Hello, I have a bose home speaker 500 and I have a problem with pairing with an iphone. The wife with a Samsung phone connects without a problem, but I have a problem with the connection of the iPhone 12. I'm on the same WiFi network, I've deactivated the WiFi assistant, I've tried restarting everything. But I can't connect with the iPhone, in the bose music app. It always tells me in the app "turn on WiFi and connect to the network" I tried another iPhone and the same thing. Has anyone encountered this?
Device keeps getting better. With the recent firmware update you can now group this speaker with standard google home speakers.

Just bought one in March 2022. I LOVE it! Great sound. And the price has come down from the almost $400 quoted in this review.

Correction - it will pair with Revolve but not Sound Touch speakers.

The bose 500 bass and tri has to be increased from the bose app settings after which only ull get the best results.
