Prussia has the best line infantry in Empire, this is because they dominate melee. As for the square formation problem, charge stats are huge in Empire so even though square formation helps, you're still going to take a lot of casualties before it works devastation on cav.

I would just like to say that despite the fact that the French were the US's greatest ally in the fight for independence what with the big army and all, the Dutch are actually your oldest ally Apollo. We were the first nation to recognize the US as an independent nation. Yankees and Dutchies all the way! #neverforget

Lmao on the American vs Dutch side it was so chaotic but on the French vs Prussians side it was such a calm line battle

Should always keep American troops on the high ground especially the long rifles and concealed in the trees. Use them to support the main battle line as they have a longer range than any other unit. Keep artillery on the hills too and have at least one infantry unit to guard them.
Try and lure that enemy cav. into range of the long rifles and use your marines to go up the center in a wedge or V formation. Also use grouping for quicker reactions to different flanks.
Good battle non the less always enjoy these battles that u post on all the total war games.

i know you said that you kinda felt a bit bad about not being able to post the vids you normaly do but i have to say ive enjoyed the shorter vids this week man they are still entertaining with your great commentary which make the vids and why im on your channel but its also i nice sort of change from some of the longer vids because some times its hard to find an hour to watch a huge siege even though its awesome lol but its also nice to see these shorter pitch battles as well very enjoyable and great work :)
The Spanish Empire was another ally too, they pretended to make a siege in Gibraltar where the Royal Navy wasted a lot of time for example
I am pretty sure that they were actually trying to take Gibraltar back but just failed, they did however recover some of the colonies in the caribbean and north america

This guy doesn't understand this game... A)Invest in artillery B)Have your gunmen in in front of, but close by your artillery. C)Flank with calvary and back with calvary in center as well. C)Your general should be behind ALL of these units. preferably in tree cover or something advantageous like that, high ground etc. D)Patiently rely on artillery to do most of the work. E) Fill in the blanks with your gunmen and wait for enemy calvary movements before deploying your calvary as a deterrent/counter strike. Soon they will dwindle down and you will have the proper numbers to strike. If you're really lucky you will have field advantage in the form of high ground. Then you send in infantry/rifelmen with artillery targets either change or artillery in ceasefire.
Of course the Americans and the french won they both never give up

I guess you've never taken the time to read historical texts about France during the 'Ancien Regime' and Napoleonic era. It took 7 different coalitions to defeat France. Second, the country 'surrendered' during WW2 following the Nazi German invasion. However, the French resistance is directly responsible for much of the Allies' success. I hate this stereotype and it just highlights this stubborn, willful ignorance Americans love to play along with.

@PixelatedApollo Hey Apollo big fan been here for years now. I just wanted to suggest and say that you should either make a video about the games you play how stuff works on your channel ect or make a video on third age and how to install it ect so my reason for the first is you are getting so many new subscribers i find myself looking through the comments and seeing dozens of people every video says 'Whats the mod' 'how do i download it' 'whats third age' 'who are you playing?' 'is this a game' ect ect now the reason for the second is the quotes i have already stated and most people are confused. Now other then making a video you may not and instead add a mod download link in the Description as that would tell people were to download the mod. And you could put somewhere in your video a message saying 'in the description is a download link to third age' or any mod your watching a replay on. Also it would be better for people i think is if you put mod in the title so people dont think its a game by putting 'Third age total war' you might misdirect people. now to all the fans who think am attacking apollo i am not just giving him some advice and critique and you may say 'you dont know what am talking about' i have watched his videos for years now and these are just a few things i have noticed and yes i may not be a youtuber but am just giving my advice. You shouldnt use Dragoons as melee cavalry cause they are just special soldiers that are meant to dismount and shoot just a mobile line infantry and they are not meant to fight with cav or do charges

Hi bro you inspired me to get a whole collection of total war games. I got all mods like the musket sounds and Dartmod on empire and napoleon caus my pc is a gaming one so it runs on extra high graphics easy and yeah for napoleon I have ntw3 and musket sounds and yeah thanks u bro

I wish the square worked how it did in real life. The cav didn't charge squares because the horses just refused to charge into a wall of bayonets and they just ran in a circle around the square letting the men in the square just shoot them.
That's kind of only half true.
Cavalry did indeed charge squares in real life in attempts to shatter them, there are plenty of historical examples of this. When cavalry did not want to charge squares they usually just avoided them rather than circling around them, wouldn't make much sense to do that.
The people on the horses made them do that. I feel like that's kind of obvious.

The Dutch were gone from America by this time
Do you play the campaign game? I've been trying to establish the British empire for years now. Personally, I'm certain I could kick most peoples' asses, since I have to build up the technology from scratch. Just conquered Canada and the 13 Colonies are officially part of the Empire. Now to take Gibraltar. Guess you don't know how to form square or coordinate attacks either.
