Thank you for the bird info. That place looks primordial I love it. You can find a lot of flood gold behind trees above the normal river line as they create whirlpools that gold will drop out in behind them. It is a spot that most people won't look because it is above normal waterline. Also any boulders above waterline.
You're welcome! The black cockatoos are gorgeous. Thanks so much for the tip, I will remember that. Next panning location will probably be in more popular gold territory, once the water warms up a little again. Cheers mate.
Please don't fall Mish! We need many more videos like this!! I have missed you and the giggles for the last couple of days but this place you're at, is absolutely beautiful!! I do wish I could see it for myself!!! Thanks Mish!!
Great example of why I would rather be holding a detector rather than a pan. But you still made it a beautiful relaxing day in the rain. Thanks for sharing!!! Those ferns are amazing.
Yeah, I definitely couldn't pan as my primary activity, but the change of pace was nice for a day. I did get some yellow in the pan when I went over to the goldfields recently, but of course it was a moment where I hadn't thought to bring the camera lol. Cheers!!
That was great Mish! and definitely a beautiful area, Not the warmest time of the year to be dipping your hands in mountain water! its a wonder your fingers didn't snap off, 10 out of 10 for tenacity!.. Not much chance of staying dry, leaches draining your blood supply , a slippery slope back to the top, is there anything that will make you stop! Yep! A nice cup of hot coffee!.. enjoyed that very much Mish, Thank you! Cheers!

Isn't it a pretty little spot. As soon as I noticed the lack of bedrock I figured it was going to be an uphill battle, still a pretty good excuse to get out and about for the day. I guess the Bex bottle'll have to go on another journey sometime. Cheers mate!
What great scenery! Looked so much like Tasssie (including the Leaches). My wife and I used to carry salt to get the leaches to release and drop off when we lived there. If we done it only to get gold then it wouldn't be enjoyable. Looking for the gold is the fun part.
Great area had a farm there for over 20 years. Done alot of prospecting with some amounts found. They never found the source. It's there somewhere waiting. Miners pulled 60 tho ounces out of turtons creek in the 1870s. Hope you enjoyed your day.
Out of the gully, safe and sound, with only one extra leech after the camera stopped rolling - lol! We are so lucky to have so many different environments here. Cheers :)

Yep, I panned leaches there too…😂😂😂😂. I spray with aero guard higher the deet the better. I also carry salt to pour on leaches if they latch on to me. It almost instantly pull away.
Ahaha, glad to know I'm not the only one who suffered that fate (not that I'd wish it on anyone!). Good to know the repellent works, I carry Bushman's in the car. And thanks for the salt tip too - maybe next time I'll bring a cooked lunch with the condiments. 😁 Cheers Jeff!

Great try Mish I find that most creeks and gullies u need to get on bedrock or scrape the clay to get any colour as there might not have flood gold in the gravel cheers Glenno.
I must admit Glenno, soon as I got to the bottom of the hill and saw all the leaf litter and light gravels I knew I was in for a battle! The bush was too dense to go looking for bedrock, especially given the poor phone reception (emergency contact just had GPS for this particular entry point). Thanks for showing the spectacular scenery, Mish. Sorry you didn't find any of the yellow stuff. Many years ago, on a camping trip to Lake Tali Karng I just used a lit match to get rid of those annoying leeches. They soon quickly fall off.
Hi Mish yes finally looking for that nugget I really hope you find that gold nugget goodluck to you. Wow nature is beautiful thier thankyou for the video while watch I noticed you could have took your pinpointer to check the dirt you pulled out to check for metal just a thought
Thanks Papole, I doubt the pinpointer would pick up the very small bits of gold that I would expect in this location. It is not an area known for large nuggets anymore. Cheers!
Hi Mish :) Wow what an amazing environment you was in :) Sometimes you only get one chance to get part of your journey stored on the device you are using, which can be a bit like roulette if your walking uneven and sketchy ground. Glad you made it out of the gully, as was wondering if the damp foliage, may have acted like walking on ice when going up in that amount of rain, also i hope you had enough coffee left for a cuppa before heading off to find some more coffee tokens as you deffo looked exhausted :) Safe travels Mish :)
There was enough solid terrain and tree roots under the leaf litter to provide texture for climbing back up, and I made sure I had boots with very good tread for the conditions. I slept very, VERY well that night, lol. Cheers!
Nice one M, I have a photo of myself and family on those falls, as for gold it's very deep but when you hit a good spot you can pull up some nice chunks and wire gold. All the best cheers A 🙂
Mmmm that confirms my suspicion that the spot was far too loaded with surface stuff to get down to any decent heavies, not a piece of bedrock in sight but there were very few access points to the creek as everything is massively overgrown right now. Was still a fun spot to hide for the day. Cheers A!!
Really enjoyed this video such a diverse climate than Northern California. We don’t have leeches but will probably be checking for them next time I’m out after this video 😂
I was so very paranoid for the rest of the day, there was even one on my pants when I sat back down in the car! I've gotten some great tips from viewers about dealing with them on the next trip. Cheers!
Hi Mish, what an awesome adventure for you and us. I loved it, would love to see more, just not the leeches. They creep me out.😂 How's the hsnd? Sorry you struck out. Maybe another time. I wonder what you might of found, if you detected down there? Take care and stay safe till next time. ❤
Hand was fine as it didn't latch on properly, thank goodness! I'm not fussed that I didn't find anything because it was SUCH a peaceful day out and I felt so relaxed afterwards too. Maybe the detector might've had a chance - I'd probably take one in there if I had a gear assistant with me, hehe. Cheers!
Agree with (jeffholmes 1362) below Aerogard Tropical spray for the clothes and roll-on for exposed skin. $12 to $9 respectively. Used it across 3 continents during sport competitions. PS never try and pull a leech off, the old aero /salt , some ladies even use perfume (alcohol base) but I wouldn't. LOL
Can’t see my comment from last night! Hopefully they aren’t all visible as I’ll write another.. 😜 Great Video Mish! Nature is awesome! The surrounding views were amazing! Gold next time 😃😃
I think YT ate it because it's not even in my 'held for review' section! Did you cause controversy?? lol. It's such a pretty spot here, I'm keen to check out more places like this for sure. Cheers Lee :)
@@DirtFishMish ha, no controversy at all 😳 Just the same as I wrote here virtually! YT ate the other 2 aswell 😂 I went and cleared my cookies and this comment stayed! 😃😃
I just have to tell you my tshirt story 😫 So because our tshirts must be a smaller size compared to the USA! I didn’t need the chunky size I ordered 😂 But.. it is a nice warm nightie 😂😂
What an amazing site. So lush and green. Watching was giving me a little anxiety though, that was a steep gully. 😳 Do you ever feel affraid or uncomfortable going to places on your own? Especially from a safety point or do you feel safe knowing your emergencies have your co-ordinates?
I'm glad you enjoyed the trek! 😄 I used to wander off like this as a little kid while camping and Dad would go off and fish, so it's very much in the DNA. The adult me, however, is smart enough to use GPS technology and pack appropriate emergency kits. 😂 I'll generally designate a time that I need to report in by, and if my contact for the day hasn't heard from me by that time then further action will be taken. Cheers!!
Well spotted! I picked up their kit when travelling home from interstate some months ago, I've got those and also both sizes of the Turbopan which I'm sure I'll use in a future adventure. Cheers!
I'm a relative newbie myself, Chief - used to pan some 30+ years ago when on holiday with my Dad, but I'm learning it all over again. I only get to the goldfields every 3mths or so, but I'll try to give it a decent go on my next trip! 😊 I definitely recommend Vo-Gus Prospecting if you want to watch someone who really knows his craft. Cheers mate.
😳🤔👍👍😊☀️🌞 Du bist die erste die ich mit einem frischen heißen Kaffee sehe vor Ort. Ist das mit Akku betrieben? Weil ein verlängerungskabel🔌🔌🔌 sehe ich nicht. 😅😅☺️☺️😀😀☀️🌞👍 Mfg Toni
It has a tropical feel, just a whole lot colder!! lol. The gold rush here was very short, less than a year in the 1870's, a couple of rich pockets but they dried up fast. Some locals still find specks here and there but they'd be a lot more attuned with the right spots to look. Cheers Bryan :)
Well, this is very true, so showcasing the other benefits of a day out (the peace and beauty of the environment - maybe not the leeches) is super important. I had a little luck with panning recently, but it wasn't a filming session unfortunately. I'll try to show a photo in a related video sometime. :)
I actually cut some footage from the very end of the hunt, when I sat back down in my car there was another one on my pants leg. 😳 Straight to a rinse as soon as I got home, lol!!

Thanks for the vid I really enjoyed it👍👍👍
Thanks for the feedback! It was a lovely little spot.
You go girl yay well done 👌👌
Thanks buddy! Might be better luck over your way though, lol!
@@DirtFishMish absolutely
Cheers!
I live near there, try Waratah Bay Area.
Thanks for the tip!
LOL
Awesome, I'll make sure I apply it liberally next time! Thanks mate.
always have a ciggie lighter on you 👍 great adventure by the way cheerz from Bendigo 👍
Good tip!! Thanks mate.
Can’t see my comment from last night! Hopefully they aren’t all visible as I’ll write another.. 😜
Great Video Mish!
I will buy a smaller size sometime in the future so I can actually wear it while detecting 😃
@@leeclyma oh my 😂 well if it makes you feel any better, I use a minelab top as PJ’s! 🤣
Some rubber gloves and some "bushman's" bug spray.... Certainly something different for you, thanks for the video Mish
The Bushman's was in the car - I'll remember to apply next time! Cheers!
I was hoping for at least one sinker!
lol... if I found a sinker here I would be seriously impressed, and a little bit confused!!
Cheers!!
Is that the minelab pan set?! I bought that same one not too long ago
Well spotted! I picked up their kit when travelling home from interstate some months ago, I've got those and also both sizes of the Turbopan which I'm sure I'll use in a future adventure. Cheers!
Can you teach me gold panning some time , love to give it a go
I'm a relative newbie myself, Chief - used to pan some 30+ years ago when on holiday with my Dad, but I'm learning it all over again. I only get to the goldfields every 3mths or so, but I'll try to give it a decent go on my next trip! 😊
I definitely recommend Vo-Gus Prospecting if you want to watch someone who really knows his craft. Cheers mate.
😳🤔👍👍😊☀️🌞 Du bist die erste die ich mit einem frischen heißen Kaffee sehe vor Ort. Ist das mit Akku betrieben? Weil ein verlängerungskabel🔌🔌🔌 sehe ich nicht. 😅😅☺️☺️😀😀☀️🌞👍 Mfg Toni
Also, did you find any other leeches on you?
Just one more that I found on my pants leg when I sat in the car! None on me personally, thank goodness.
How did you manage to get the leach off your wrist!?😅
It hadn't fully latched on, so I was able to flick it off with a stick after a few attempts. :)
Hey Mish good morning
Looks like rain forest . Gold panning never did that .
@@DirtFishMish what is the temperature there ? High 90s here .
@@bryanolier6775 in Fahrenheit, this day would’ve been in the mid-50’s - quite cold. I’m on the southern edge of mainland Australia. 😊
❤️❤️
How are you Mishi

If everyone tells the truth they spend more days like this than they do finding gold.
Well, this is very true, so showcasing the other benefits of a day out (the peace and beauty of the environment - maybe not the leeches) is super important. I had a little luck with panning recently, but it wasn't a filming session unfortunately. I'll try to show a photo in a related video sometime. :)
Mish who is the man of beard

You are awesome. So positive. !
I try to be :) Thank you.
Well the leaches always make memories you don't forget! 🏞️🌧️ (I'm sure the real hunt was for more leaches when you got home 😂)
I actually cut some footage from the very end of the hunt, when I sat back down in my car there was another one on my pants leg. 😳 Straight to a rinse as soon as I got home, lol!!
